Lumsden, Gay  

Excellent teacher... definitely knows what she's doing, and overall nice personality. Very fair when grading speeches, and class only had one easy multiple choice midterm, and 3 speeches. Not very hard, but definitely not very easy.

Dr. Lumsden is such a sweet professor! You know how they tell you college professors are nothing like the teachers you had in highschool? well theyre right. Dr. Lumsden is like that kindergarten teacher you had and loved. She always has a story to tell you and is so enthusiastic. There's a lot of reading but nothing too painful and 3 speeches you end up giving: storytelling, informative, and persuasive. I had the class at 7a and we did a lot of group projects and skits to keeps us awake. She's a doll and on the day of the final she baked us cookies.

Gay Lumsden is perhaps the finest speech communication teacher at Cal Poly, not to mention one of the most delightful, wonderful people I have ever met. If looking to take any speech related class, look first for this teacher, whatever the topic is, as she is superb, even at 7:10 in the morning. She grades and tests fairly, helps you understand the material perfectly, and her speech assignments are nothing to worry about, even if you hate speaking to an audience. I took her for my freshman year SCOM 102 GE and it has been my best class at Poly yet.
