Great teacher that can keep you awake at 7am. She gives one midterm and a final. You have weekly homework that she goes over before you turn it in. She is really understanding and willing to help. She loves to see her students succeed. The first midterm was pretty easy and the quizzes are very simple. I am so glad I got to take her class. I would recommend her to anyone

Debbie Wacker is an excellent teacher. She is so fired up about accounting that she makes the class exciting!!! She gives outlines of each chapter and is very helpful during office hours. There is one test and a final as well as homework. If you do the reading and put forth the effort, you should do all right in the class!

What I like most about Professor Wacker is that she teaches a subject that she still currently has as an occupation. She knows exactly which topics of accounting are imperative to the career, and spends more than enough time on the relevant material. Besides her proffesionalism and well structured class, Wacker has a great personality and loves working with her students. I know she teaches at 7 AM....but its worth it if you want an easy time learning the accounting basics

Debbie will definitely remain one of the top professors I have ever encountered (I just wish she taught 215 also). She cares so much about your understanding and is there to help. In a class I had no desire to take, she made everything as understandable and simple as possible. The comp problem seems intimidating at first until you realize she prepares you perfectly and, like I said, is there to help you understand anything you are struggling with. Take Debbie if you have the chance, or try crashing it - excellent person, excellent teacher.

Debbie is awesome! I was worried about this Financial Accounting class, especailly because it was at 7am. But she made it fun and worthwhile to come to class.(She even brought donuts one day!) She explains everything thoroughly and is very helpful in her office hours. It is this class that made me really want to do the Accounting concentration.

Ms. Wacker is just plain awesome. I took the class at 7am (2 hour lecture) and she was so energetic and awake. 2 hour lectures usually take forever to end, but this wasn't the case for this class (especially as we got closer to the end of the quarter). Ms. Wacker understands accounting (she even has her accounting office in downtown SLO, so she knows the stuff because she does it for a job). She can explain things very well, she is very nice, very considerate of her students, cares for her students a lot, is very patient, extremely helpful in and out of office hours, friendly, and she is hilarious at times. That pepper spray thing was...well...it was funny, haha. Overall, she was an awesome professor. She even brought donuts for the class one day! Sweet! A couple of quizzes, a midterm, and a final. But I'm not liable if the curriculum changes. Peace. GO WACKER!!!

Debbie is an excellent teacher. She not only clearly explains all pertinent course material, but she is so pleasant. I have never met a teacher who encourages their students more than she has. Debbie positively influenced my outlook on the accounting field!!!! Take her. Her class is not overbearing, but you definately need to know your material. There was one midterm and a final. Just about every other week we had a quiz and one comprehensive problem. She randomly collects homework so be ready. Overall she was more than fair. I loved her and you will too! I only hope I get the chance to have her again. Get excited to take her class.

Debbie is one of the best teachers i've ever had at poly. She explains the material clearly and really wants to make sure that her students understand the information. i thought this class was going to be terrible, especially since it started at 7am(!), but debbie makes class really fun and interesting (she even brought us donuts!). there are weekly quizzes that are really helpful, one mid-term, and a comprehensive final that she takes you through every step of the way. her office hours are great (she'll even meet with you on weekends, if need be), and she is so nice and funny. the thought of a 7am class may scare you at first, but debbie's was definitely worth taking and i hope i get the chance to take her again.

Prof. Wacker is awesome. She presnts materials very clearly and is always willing to help you out if you have trouble with anything. One midterm, a final, HW and an excel project make up the grade. I always hear people whine about how bad their 214 profs are where as i had a great time during this class even tho it was at 7 am.... I would recommend Prof. Wacker for any course she teaches!

The class was set up as two midterms and a longer final. Homework was usually assigned once a week and was collected randomly. I'd say she collects it about 1/3 to 1/2 of the time. The homework problems were a little difficult, not too bad, but very time consuming. Plan on spending 1-2 hours on the homework. Reading was about a chapter a week and class went at a pretty good pace, it wasn't too fast or too slow. I recommend reading the chapter when she assigns it, because I was pretty lost when I didn't read the chapter along with the material we were going over in class. She doesn't use the board to teach much, except to go over problems. The class was mostly lecture, with not much power point. I love the fact that we would go over the homework in class everyday. That really helps out with those problems and helps with understanding the concepts. We also had the Comprehensive Accounting Problem that all classes had, and it took a long time to do. Give yourself enough time to revise and revise and revise. She is a strict teacher, but not too bad. She expects a lot from you, but if you are trying and doing the reading and assignments, she will really take time to help you understand it. Her tests were fairly difficult, but we went over them in detail. I think she is a very good teacher and would recommend her for this class. Accounting is a very time intensive and sometimes tedious class, so be prepared to put in the hours for this class.

Great teacher. Really funny/quirky. She tries really hard to help you if you have questions, even on the tests. Once I had a really hard time on a certain test question, and i kept asking her about it, and she gave me a high five when i finally got it right. The tests are part multiple choice, part fill in or short commputation, and some are journal entries or completion of financial statements. She is my faveorite Business teacher ive had so far, and i will genuinely miss her class.Take Wacker!!

Great professor! Class was fair, tests were fair, and and homework was fair (even though it does take quite a bit of time). Wacker is prepared to make sure each and every student understands the concepts she teaches, and will meet with you at anytime if you are struggling. 2 midterms and a final...all fairly straightforward but sometimes challenging (especially when you get to the last page). The partner comprehensive problem assigned during the middle of the quarter is very time consuming but she tries to give you as much time as possible. She's also quick with emails, so on the last night before it's due when things aren't balancing, she'll help you get through it. Loved this teacher...she makes accounting interesting, and that takes a lot of work. Take her!

I like to describe Wacker as Sidney Fife described \"chocolat\" at the end of \"i love you, man\": just delightful. She brings so much real world experience to the class as she is an accountant herself and keeps the class interested in this way. The subject material is very doable, just stay on top of things and dont fall behind and you will be able to get an A. For homework, use myaccountinglab, there is a problem exactly like every hw problem just with different numbers, and it helps you learn the material also. There was a midterm, one quiz, two take-home quizzes, a short and easy writing assignment, and a cumulative final, but i assume she switches up how many quizzes she has cuz she changed some of ours to take home quizzes at the last second. She\'s really lenient like that. You cant really ask for a better teacher than Wacker; she knows her stuff, makes the class interesting, and helps every student succeed. She even learns everybody\'s names in classes that are fairly large. Make Wacker your first choice for finalcial accounting teachers. I cant imagine there are any better ones at the school.

Professor Wacker has been one of the best teachers I have had at Cal Poly. Her class is very straight forward. She tells you exactly what you need to do and study for on tests and quizzes. We always had class time to go over homework which really helped with understanding the material. There were numerous homework assignments, but only three were collected for a grade. There were three quizzes where she would sometimes put trick questions on to really test you on the material. Two of those three quizzes were take-home too. She also had the class do a short writing assignment which was pretty much free points. The class had one midterm and a final. For both of those tests, she would literally outline all the material we needed to know for the exams. She was truly great at explaining all the material in a very understandable and practical way. THE BOTTOM LINE.....TAKE WACKER! SHE WILL HELP YOU LEARN ACCOUNTING!

Great professor. She doesn't burden you with all sorts of work, the most time consuming thing for this class is the manual accounting project you have to do on excel. Besides that, it's not too hard. She is a practicing CPA so she tells real life stories about clients that are interesting. Lastly, she is just a really nice person! I'd absolutely recommend her for any sort of accounting class.

Debbie is now my favorite teacher in OCOB. She really understands her students and takes the time to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Her class consist of 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 tax problem split into 2 phases, and 1 final. Tax accounting is a very hard class and a lot of tedious memorizing but Debbie made it enjoyable everyday. The final is cumulative. She is very generous with her grading because she grades mostly on process rather than nit-picky errors. If you try in her class there shouldn't be a reason why you can't get a B. (ps. I'm almost certain that she is easier than Dr. Carr, but i've heard that Dr. Carr is also a great professor for this course)

Debbie is a great lady. I was concentrating in enterprise accounting but this class made me wish I was concentrating in public accounting. I really enjoyed this class and Debbie explained the material clearly which is a tough thing to do considering all the rules for taxes. Debbie is one of those teachers that really cares about the students and will do whatever she can to help them succeed in her class as well as in there pursuit of a career. This is a tough class but as long as you listen to Debbie you will do find. She doesn't try to trick you on any of the tests or quizzes and will make sure you are well informed of their content. At the end of the year you and a group must do a pretend tax return that is tough and confusing but just try your best and ask her questions and you will do well. She grades them pretty easy because she knows they are tough.

Debbie Wacker is one of the awesomest preofessors I have ever had. I was hesitant to go in at 7am, but she made it fun. And it was during tax season, so she was crazed, spazzed out, and totally funny. She is really forgiving, and very sensitive to students problems, and a really good at teaching tax so you don't feel totally overloaded or confused. She is great, and has an interesting similarity to Molly Shannon from SNL.

Debbie is one of the best teachers I have had here at Cal Poly. She's also a good teacher to have at 7am because she's very awake and that makes you stay awake too. She totally knows what she's talking about because she has her own tax accounting practice. She gives out outlines for every chapter with the basic information you should know, and then she goes over them in more detail. You do have to study for the tests, but as long as you show your work and train of thought, you'll get partial credit even if the answer is wrong. The tax problem is difficult, but it's in groups and you can ask her if your final answers are right and she'll tell you if they are or not. I would definitely recommend Debbie for any class - she's a great teacher, loves to teach, and really cares about her students.

Debbie is awsome! I took this class last spring at 7am and I loved it. From what I've heard, Wacker and Carr teach the course the same way and give out the same tax problem. I really don't think that Carr is more difficult than Wacker, but it is just more difficult to pay attention in class. I've had Carr before and found it extremely hard to stay awake in her class, but this was not the case in Debbie's class. TAKE HER, IF YOU CAN...THATS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. Debi is the best teacher I have had thus far at poly, and I'm a fourth year. You learn so much in this class and it's not that hard. Tax in general requires a lot of memorization of the tax code and whatnot, but the difference between Debi and the others, like Carr (from what I hear), is that she is extremely fair on all the exams and projects. She tells you what you will and won't be tested on and if you go to her office hours she'll help you out immensly. I was a little confused/overwhelmed right off the bat because of all the new tax memorization that I had to do but after a 1.5 hour session in her office, everything was clear. She's super chill and funny and she's just a nut which makes the class fun. Take and I guarantee that you will be amped. Incredible teacher, nuff said.

Debbie is somewhat of a nutcase. No offense at all but that's also why I love her. Her enthusiasm and humor makes it very easy to love tax (at least for me, that is) and she really does care about her students.
