Wild is a pretty good teacher, but I don't think I learned one thing from her during class. To get a good grade, all you have to do is read the book and listen when she talks about access and excel...whenever she tried to lecture in the class everyone pretty much fell asleep. The subject she teaches isn't the most exciting, but with little homework and working in groups the class isn't too hard.

Professor Wild was a great teacher, one of the best at Cal Poly. There are three quizzes at 22% each and three group projects @ 8% each. The course web site keeps you updated and on top of all the assignments. Wild is always available to help you in her office hours and is one of the nicest teachers ive ever had.

Dr. Wild is a great prof. She is fair and truly wants her students to learn. I am taking her again for BUS393, and she helps the class understand some major topics without being too boring. The work is tedious at times, but you'll be amazed how useful the practice can be. Highly reccommended!

Shes a good teacher. She cares about her students and teaches pretty well. Makes it half way interesting. I never went to the lab's because they were so damn easy. The only thing i bad i would have to say is that she has an attendence policy. bla

Dr. Wild comes across as a personable teacher. She is nice, and genuinely cares about the subject that she is teaching. She does a good job of preparing students for assignments and group projects. A decent portion of your grade comes from group projects and homework, so you have an excellent chance to raise your grade that way. I think my group averaged somewhere around 96% of the total points possible on the group work, and we didn't do anything special. We just put the time in. Speaking of putting the time in, this class contains a lot of busy work, so be prepared for it. None of it is overally difficult, just time consuming. My one complaint, if you would call it one, would be the speed at which she teaches in the labs. I am very capable with a computer, but sometimes I would miss a small detail, and find myself frantically trying to catch up for the next 10 minutes. You just have to be a little selfish and make sure that you speak up if you miss something, and have her go over it again. Its not worth the frustration. I could understand, for that reason, why some people were frustrated with the labs, but if you have a decent background with computers you will be fine. And if you know excel, frontpage, and access at all, you will be that much better off. Oh, and make sure you read the text for the midterms. I was at every lecture, and got C's on the two midterms because I just couldn't bring myself to read the text. If you care about your grade, you have to do it. I would certainly recommend taking BUS 391 with Wild.

Dr. Wild is a very nice woman and I believe that she wants her students to do well. That being said, I wasn't very impressed with this class and, for the most part, I felt it was a waste of time. I don't think that's Dr. Wild's fault; the subject matter is just really useless. She assigns some homework and they aren't difficult, but you have to really be careful with her because her directions aren't very clear and you can lose points on all sorts of things. She had three group projects, which were no big deal, and 3 quizzes which were also not too bad. She even posts some practice problems on her website and alot of the same problems are also on her test. Some people love MIS, others hate it. She's probably the best professor to take for this course.

Professor WIld is not a good teacher. She goes way too fast and often messes up herself on the labs she does in class. Her motto is "i Dont care if its right, as long as you understand" how can we possibly understand what we are doing if we don't get the right answer? if you have the opportunity to take it with any one else. DO IT! she does not seem to care how students are ACTUALLY doing. The homework is misleading and the midterm questions are very confusing in that all answers could possibly be correct. overall...HORRIBLE experience

Dr. Wild's class was not too bad. She goes wayyy too fast during the labs. But she is extremely helpful during office hours. If you are able to keep up with the access part of the course, the excel and frontpage parts are cake.

this was definitelly my best class this quarter! i think dr wild really cares about her students. she replied to my emails at 10pm the day before we had a test. her coursewebsite is a excellent tool! i wish all teachers would do that! her assignments are pretty easy. maybe you can summarize it with the words: if you want to learn something and put a little effort in this class you could easily get a B if you are lazy and you can at least pass ... i would take her class again!

Professor Wild really cares about her students, and she tries to make it easy to earn at least get a B in the class. The lectures are somewhat boring, but the subject isn't very interesting to most people. The excel and access portions of the class were learing experiences. All in all, Wild does her best to make sure that you do well.

She's great at teaching you how to use the programs that you're supposed to learn in this course (Excel, Acces, and Frontpage). Not so great at the lecture part but I've been to Lertwachara's lecture a couple times and it was the same. Also, she didn't lecture that often. Not a very interesting class in terms of lecture but it's still a good class to have because IT is very important in the world today. 2 Midterms and 2 software midterms (knowing how to use the programs) and an easy presentation. There were 2 homework assignments on the programs (one on excel and on on access) and weekly homework assignments on the chapter (essentially vocab).

Wild goes wayyyyy to fast on the activities that if you miss one step you're lost for the rest of the class. It's pretty annoying and her way of solving it is telling you to just watch her or someone else's screen. Her lectures don't really help, just read the book and scan over her slides and you'll do fine on the tests. She grades pretty easy, seems like everyone got A's on their presentations. I would recommend taking her for this class. Four midterms (no final, the last test in during dead week), 2 group projects, 1 presentation, and like 7 homeworks (which are pretty easy, she grades more on effort than if it's right or not).

really awful. probably the worst professor i have ever had at calpoly aside from a grad student a while ago. nothing you do in class or lectures ever shows up on the tests or quizzes, and the tests and quizzes go over material she never even mentions.

Nice lady but goes way too fast. I zoned out every single lecture and ended up teaching myself the material before the exams. It's hard to care about a class that is this boring.

Wild goes pretty fast, but the material isnt very hard. Understanding Access isnt too tough, and the excel part is a joke. The only annoying part is reading the book to understand the terms for the exam. Otherwise, the class is easy. Just get ahead on the project, because if you leave it, you are asking for a shitty grade.

Dr. Wild is my favorite MIS Prof. She truly cares about the students' understanding of the topic, and she will go the extra mile for grading such an in-depth final project (do not underestimate it, it is a huge monster disgused as an easy Access form/query which you cannot afford to put off until the 10th week). You probably have no choice but to take her for this class, and that is OK.

Nicest B**** you'll ever meet. Won't learn shi* in her class. She lectures from a workbook (which is self-explanatory) and starts the most important information 3/4 into the course. This is a damb database class and the SQL stuff is covered toward the end of class. Won't learn a damb thing....I will give you one thing - you are better than your MORON of a husband -Griggs. Please improve your course. Companies are not stupid. They will stop recruiting Cal Poly MIS students if this continues. Ask your students and you'll see that no one ever feels like they get much out of any of the MIS courses. Most all MIS teachers are nice individuals but that does not make them GOOD professors. WORK ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!! MAYBE FLOYD should be brought back to fix these injustices being committed against MIS students?

There is not much homework in this class ... a few in class activities. You will love having nothing really to do during the class but sit and listen, but sometimes I had wished there was more in class and out of class things to do, cause thats the only time I really learned the stuff. It was just too easy to sit behind a computer and screw around when Dr. Wild was up at the front playing around with different access or sql things. Database design was pretty interesting, some of it can be confusing though. Data normilization in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd normal forms, and advanced queries on the databases take a little bit of time to get used to. No final, your final is replaced by a final project, and you get to work with a group on that to divide up the work. I liked this class and enjoyed learning it for the most part. And like the other guy said, chances are you have no choice but to take this class with Wild, and thats not a bad thing. BTW: If you didn't already know, you can sign up for 393 and 394 at the same time, so you can take 395 the following quarter.

Dr. Wild is one of those professors who really care about her students' learning. She presents the material in an easy to understand manner and at a good pace. Her 393 class has been the most useful out of the 393/394/395 series for me. The person below who said "Nicest B**** you'll ever meet. Won't learn shi* in her class" IS FULL OF CRAP. SQL is not the most imporant thing, database modeling, Entity Relationship Diagrams, and normalization are very important prerequisites. There's a REASON that SQL is covered later in the quarter, you dope!

Got an A, didn't learn jack. Most of the time, she just confused us with her poor explanation on normalization, and not to mention she contradicted the book (the one she picked) in her lectures and tests. Don

If you have no previous background in information systems, good luck. I will say, the most humorous part of this class is seeing how frustrated the whole class gets trying to decipher her messy powerpoints, vague directions on anything and everything including the final project, and her inability to answer questions she wrote herself. If you have to take this class. Good luck. Have a good group for the final project who semi-understands what\'s going on.

Wild goes pretty fast in her PowerPoints so I had to teach myself a lot of the time. You can ask questions during class though and she'll go over whatever you don't understand. For the final project, make sure you get people who will work because honestly, the way it's structured, it's tons of work in the last 2 weeks of the course. So if you have a good group then you'll be fine. She's pretty space-y and disoriented sometimes but she's a very nice lady at least. Anyway, she's the only one who taught 393 when I was taking it so it's not like you have much of a choice.

Prof Wild is a great lady and a pretty good teacher. her class is fair and she really likes participation. also, the cases that she gives you are time consuming, but relatively easy and very beneficial to your coursework. i am not an IT guy so i was very scared about this class. as it turned out, i crashed and burned on the actual software part of it, but i came out knowing a lot more about the capabilities of IT and the importance of it to business. also, i learned how to implement IT and what certain programs could do. Advice for this class: complete all of the HW hardcore and participate in class. This will virtually assure you of a C. if you make good oral presentations, you'll do even better. be creative... she likes that
