Betty is a miserable person. She seems to absolutely hate her job, and everybody around her. She is a horrible teacher and an even worse counseler. Every time I leave her office I feel more confused than when I entered. My advice would be to go and see Dr. Chickowski if you have any questions and don't do the BLENDED PROGRAM (we are just ginnie pigs for a program that does not work).

She is horrible!! Do not depend on her to help you with what classes to take, she will just make things harder or deter to the wrong classes. 101 is a waste of time, but you have to go. She doesn

I still am puzzled on how Betty Sawyer was given the position to be the advisor for a program that is supposed to teach you how to be a teacher. For a class that only met 5 times and had ridiculous assignments such as activating your cal poly e-mail you would think that it would be pretty straight forward. I learned absolutely nothing about my major in this "introductory" course and actually feel stupider for having to take it. I am now more confused about the requirements because she never gives you a straight answer and when she does she usually changes her mind the next week. Ahh this class was frustrating and she lost my assignments so as of now I have no credit. Cool.

She is terrible! Ms. Sawyer is a very cranky woman who does not know how to advise. This class was pointless and I didn't learn anyhting from it. The only positive aspect was I only had to go to class a total of 5 times. As an advisor she is terrible as well. I saw her twice and she was very rude to me and didn't help me at all, only made me more confused. I suggest if you have any problems with dealing with classes or anything talk to Mrs. Duffy or get another advisor(that's what I did). Good Luck!

Ms. sawyer knows nothing about liberal studies, even though she is the advisor. The LS 101 class was a waste of my time, i didnt learn anything i didnt already know. She is very rude and not helpful when you go in to ask a question.

In agreement with the negative evaluations, I do agree Betty can be cranky at times. But what I have found is that if you are nice to her she will be nice back. She has helped me out in deciding what classes to take, sometimes I would just go into her office to vent about a hard class. We, Liberal Studies majors are actually lucky to have a full time advisor, I have talked to some students who don't even know their advisors name. We have the luxury of going to her office almost anytime and speaking with her. As for her LS101 class, Betty was actually being cool about it and letting us meet only once every other week but some stupid chick ruined it for us all by telling the LS department. Just don't miss more that one class, do the few easy assignments and you will get credit.

Betty is not as bad as everyone says. If you just respect her and go in with an open mind, she is really helpful and without her, I would probably be here for another year.

LS 101 is almost a waste of time. The only helpful thing was getting the booklet that you have to buy. But, most of my opinion of Betty is based on her as an Advisor. When you meet with Betty, you never know which side of her you are going to get. She either acts like she has no idea who you are and treats you like a lepar, or she acts like she is happy to see you and she knows exactly who you are. But in response to the person who says the Blended Program doesn't work, I think it works just fine and I am suprised that many other colleges don't do it this way. Unfortunately, there is no way around Betty. If you go to Dr. Duffy, she just says to go see Betty. Every Liberal Studies major I know, dreads when they have to make an appointment. Betty has never taught Elementary School, nor has she ever received a teaching credential. I think the students that are in the Blended Program need a completely separate advisor.
