She is so cool! She grades fairly and generously, which is more than I can say than I can say about the many picky, unsympathetic teachers here. She presents the material clearly, the textbook is good and as long as you study the material you will do well. She is a very good teacher and very approachable. Best one I've had so far.

one of the worst teachers i have ever had. she is boring in her lectures and she doesnt really explain her material. she curved the final grade a lot that was probably the only plus. half the time someone had to correct her during her lecture. find someone else.

Very helpful with the material. Just as long as you take the initiative to go to office hours. Quite personable, and tells randomly amusing stories about herself during class.

Kick ass teacher. Lectures are kinda boring but her tests and quizes are fair and she is always helpful.

Prof. Rellick is great. She teaches everything extremely clearly, and had I attended all of the classes my grade would have been far better, because her tests were extremely fairly written and TOO fairly graded. I got partial credit on a question on which I wrote some work not really having to do with the problem and then wrote "I don't know" on. She doesn't want anyone to fail, and my only gripe was that she didn't always seem to want students to come to office hours. I can't really complain, however, because I didn't try too hard myself to go, but when I really needed her she helped me out a lot. She's an extremely nice person in general, and that coupled with her genius in explaining math makes her a very worthwhile teacher.

Dr. Rellick does a fairly good job of explaining math concepts and is very helpful if you are not understanding a lesson, however, you will have to very actively seek help because she doesn't really recognize when the class as a whole is having difficulty. Other than that, she is friendly, loves to give extra credit points, and helps out a lot. The only real detractor is that she makes some of her test questions ungodly hard, but fortunately, she is an extremely lenient grader.

dr. rellick is a very nice, carring individual and is a major push over. she openly admits to being disorganized and at times seems unprepared. we did a fraction of the homework that the other math 242 calsses covered. i question whether we did all of the required material for the course. we covered 2-5 sections per chapter and only covered parts of 4 chapters. basically we skipped a lot of material. her tests and quizes aren't too bad and the workload she assigns is easy. she often would let us out of class early b/c we would cover all of the lesson plan in half an hour. we didn't even cover 1 section a day and she often didn't assign homework b/c she hadn't picked problems for us to do or simply b/c it was a weekend. she did all of the homework herself and put her own sollutions in the library before it was even due. she is very approachable and helpful during her office hours. the final in her class was an option as well. she said even if you didn't show up or got an "F" on the final you would get the grade you had before going into the final. i would recommend dr.rellick if you wan't it easy. however, it is easy to fall behind b/c she is so layed back. if you really want to learn the material, you may want to take another instructor unless you are highly motivated.

I really enjoyed this class with Lori. It was a pretty kick-back class for the most part....one homework assignment per week, no too tough (she usually posted the solutions on the reserves before it was due), easy quizzes taken right from the homework, and midterms that were also not too difficult. If this is your last qtr of calc (like it was for me) I would absolutley recommend taking Lori. If you have to go on to 317/318 or furthur, I would prbably take someone else to get a better knowledge of diffEQ's. It isnt too hard to get a good grade in her class. I have gotten B's in every previous calc class and I ended up with a 93% in hers. Yay. She is also very nice and helpful in office hours. She is also pro-life, which is great (not that that has anything to do with differntial equations).

Lori is a really great teacher. She is a little crazy (almost clinically) but she really loves what she does. She is always available for questions and help. The tests and quizzes are very easy if you do the homework. Many of the questions come staight from your assignments. She is also very no-nonsense. If you are a math major you might not like the fact that she doesn't do proofs, but as an engineer, I loved it. She basically tells you how to do it, and then says, do some problems, and then prove it on a test. there is no reason not to get at least a B in this class. I did with VERY minimal effort.

I really liked her. She taught us exactly what we needed to know, in a very straight forward way - no proofs! It was very nice, the first math class I've had like that. We had either a quiz or a test every week and about one homework assignment a week. They were usually pretty easy. She didn't want to trick us at all. I would definitely recommend her.

Rellick was a pretty easy teacher, she was very easy to understand. We had maybe 6 homework assignments, and we could drop one. We had maybe 5 quizzes and could drop one of those. We had 2 midterms and a final. The tests were generally easy, but she graded much harder, and didn't care if she didn't grade very fairly. She gave extra credit for writing a paper on a mathematician, correcting her mistakes, or doing a problem on the board.

Rellick was definitely a decent professor. She was always a bit flustered/frustrated with the course itself because it was so new and because there is so much material to cover. With that in mind, she did the best she could at 8am every morning...er, 4 mornings a week. I don't know how many other prof's are teaching this course, but I'm sure it will get better as it becomes more fully developed, and Rellick is one of the better choices you have. The review right below mine is accurate in describing the homework/tests/grading stuff, so read it.

I could not stand Rellick. She was always flustered, and didn't seem like she really had a handle on the material. Every morning she had some random whining complaint, and she drank a diet-coke every morning at 8am while wondering out loud while her throat was so dry and scratchy. If you showed up every single day her lectures weren't so hard to follow, but overall she was flaky, made lots of mistakes herself and was unforgiving of student mistakes, taking off lots of points for small things. Her tests were way too hard, and homework was reasonable except for all the points she took off for small things. I wouldn't take her again even if she was the only teacher available. I couldn't stand to stick with her class for more than 4 or 5 weeks.

Professor Rellick really isn't all too great a teacher. In fact, you don't really learn all that much in her class for 244. But, her class is very EASY. She assigns 5 homeworks throughout the quarter, and has 2 midterms and 5 quizzes. The quizzes are simple, and, with a few hours of studying, so are her midterms. I wouldn't recommend taking her if you want to learn a gread deal about linear algebra/differential equations, but if you want a good grade without too much work, she is for you.

I really liked Dr. Rellick. I had completely hated every math class since calc I, and was expecting to hate diffy Q's, but I actually enjoyed 244. Workload was very manageable and although we didn't end up covering all the material, I understood the stuff we did cover. My only complaint would be to weight the class more evenly between diffy Q's and linear algebra. It ended up being the first 8 weeks on diffy Q's and only 2 on linear algebra, which is hurting me now because many engineering classes expect you to know a lot of linear algebra.

Dr. Rellick goes over the basics of Linear Analysis, making sure no one is confused. The first 5 weeks covers differential equations and the last 5 weeks covers actual linear analysis. She gives 6 homeworks and drops 1, 6 quizzes and drops 1, 2 midterms, and a final. There are several opportunities for extra credit as well, like writing a 2 pg. essay on the life of a mathematician. Rellick was always helpful during office hours as well! Go Rellick!!!!

Rellick is a great teacher. I won't go over what she does during the class, thats what the review below me says. I don't know what the people below are talking about when they say she is unorganized...Every day she came in prepared and taught it well. The only time she was caught off guard was when people asked such stupid questions that they didn't even merit an answer. Her midterms were basically just homework problems, but since the material was so easy she put a theoretical question about the derivision for different methods of solving DE's to make sure you completely understood why you do it like that, not just how to do it. I never visited her in office hours so I can't comment on that. Also, she doesn't make you buy the book, which I did anyways and shouldn't have. The book is a piece of shit, it is the only math text I have sold back right after taking the class.

Rellick seems to be a "rebel" math teacher. She dosen't require a book, and grades quite easily on quizzes. Instead of a book, she photocopies chapters out of "engineering math" books, which are much easier to understand than the regular diffeq textbook. However, not having a book is a great liability because when you are doing the homework (5 total) and you have a question, there is no place to turn to. Every Thursday was "recitation" day, and if you did problems on the board you got extra credit points. I highly suggesst that you stay on her good side because she will reward you with extra credit points in the end. Her grading scheme is a bit weird; quizzes are 30 points each and are quite easy to get the full points. Midterms are 50 points (less than two quizzes) and are extremely difficult. She always asks conceptual problems that require a paragraph to answer, such as why we used this factor in solving this equation. They are the hardest part of the quizzes and tests. She spends lots of time on the diffeq portion and not much time on the linear analysis portion of the class, which is opposite of all the other math teachers at Poly. Overall, a difficult teacher if you haven't had Diffeq before.

A good teacher for this class. She doesnt require you to buy the standard book and hands out packets of information on the new topics. However she is very slow when explaining the concepts and walks through the process step by step which can turn out to be very frustrating. But you will definitely come out of the class having a firm understanding of the material. She is also very friendly and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. The only complaint I have though is that her tests and quizzes turn out to be very easy and I always end up feeling overprepared. It's easy to get an excellent grade with minimal effort.

Ok, Lori is a G in my book. I got C's and some D's in like every calc class. I am special like that. Now, I stepped it up a notch this quarter and pulled in A in 244 first time taking it. Moral of the story? Rellick lectures like a textbook and lays out the lectures where taking notes is easy. Just copy what is on the board and you have notes that will get you an A. Go to office hours a few times so she recognizes your face and name, teachers like that shit kids!! I'm not smart at all and I pulled an A, but don't take this class if you have to go far with diffy Q. I am a CE major so what i learned was adequate. Peace!!!

Rellick is a good teacher and a wonderful person. She's truly kind and you get the notion that she actually cares, especially in office hours - and that makes all the difference. She doesn't make you buy the book, but i suggest reading it when you're having trouble as it explains things wonderfully, although rellick does as well. She's a clear lecturer, focusing on examples and application rather than theory, which is JUST what we need, nothing more. However, I wish this was reflected on exams, where she makes you memorize proofs. Don't get me wrong, they were easy points for me, and I did better on those than I did on the actual problems, but I don't see this as necessary to learning. Other than that, she is a perfect math teacher. She's laid back and has an odd but cool sense of hummor, has reasonable homework that is repetitive but very helpful, and quizzes and exams that, with the exceptions of derivations, are very straightforward and relevant. She spends a bit too much time on DE's - more than necessary beacsue DE's are an easy topic. On linear algebra, she spends the right amount of time on the subject, but I think she should cut some time of DE review to go further into linear algebra - its very important to us in the future. Nonetheless, Rellick is a great professor and a nice woman. I highly recommend her, as she's been my favorite math prof. Along with Greedwald :) Thanks for a great quarter Lori!

The last rating pretty much summed up what I thought of Rellick. She really got across the subject matter by giving us a lot of sources. I don't know how many photocopies of books she gave us to study, but they were always helpful. The book wasn't at all necessary or useful. My only complaint about the class was the extra credit policy. Correcting the teacher is ok, especially if you get points for it, but some of the stuff that she was corrected for the rest of us noticed and didn't get points for. There are many other ways, though, of getting extra credit. The tests were challenging because half of them were made up of theoretical questions, but I ended up learning the material better as a result. Just take advantage of the material that's given and the class shouldn't be too difficult.

Rellick Rocks. Her lectures are straightforward, and you don't even need the textbook. She gives out photocopies in class, and suggests to read the sections, but if you pay attention in class you won't even need to. Be prepared to explain derivations on exams though (roe is one of her favorites). She gives tons of opportunities for extra credit too. Basically, go to class and you'll be fine.

Despite the often pessimistic remarks about relatives and such, Rellick is a pretty damn good teacher. Her tests and quizzes are very fair as well. She doesn't collect homework(she does assign it) but does the assignments herself and produces answer keys for the class- a big help. The lecture notes are also a good idea to study before the tests. She also gets to know the class pretty well and even brought in candy at Halloween. Rellick is the best math teacher I've had at poly. She's not a freakin robot and doesn't bitch about the magic of calculus(Al Jimenez). I learned more than the other math classes plus it was easy to understand- really the best kind of instruction. I can't take her again cause math is over. However, heed my advice: TAKE HER OVER ANY OTHER MATH TEACHER AT POLY.

lori's lectures were much easier to follow than the book was at explaining the material. she would do several example problems during lecture to get us started. she seemed more concerned with the results and less concerned with the derivations. however, she notoriously would give test/quiz questions asking us to derive some of these equations used. she would assign homework and do the problems herselg and post the sollutions in the library. if you found an error on her sollutions she would give you extra credit. her office hours were at 7:30 am and she very rarely arrived earlier than 7:50 and class started at 8. she has an odd sense of humor that gives her character unlike any professor i have ever had. ex: one morning she found a rooster in the hallway of the building and brought it into the classroom. the rooster walked around and hopped on peoples desks during lecture and it was no big deal to her. she just kept lecturing. she ended up taking it home and putting it with her other chickens she owned. she would then give us weekly updates on the rooster and how her chickens had plucked all of the feathers off of it. to say the least she is very goofy, but entertaining. she is a nice chick and easy to talk to. she is very laid back and run the class in the same manner. i would recommend taking her if you want to have it pretty easy. she teaches you just what you need to know, nothing more, nothing less.
