This is a fun class for anyone that isn't familiar with microsoft works =)I liked this class because professor Fox will is a very very helpful teacher. He talks a little too fast during lectures but if you need help with projects you should just ask. There is around 4 projects, a midterm, and a final. Very very easy class, great if you need a grade booster. Just remember to ask for help and your grade will sky rocket. I highly recommend Kris Fox =)

Kris Fox really knows his material, but he does not have the teaching ability to teach the material. It is impossible to keep up with him in class, he zooms around the computer screen and does not verbalize what he is doing. As the student it is impossible to watch what he is doing on the screen, take notes and try on your own computer screen. The notes I was able to take were so incomplete that when I would get home, I could not repeat what was covered in class. If you have to take this class from Kris Fox, I would suggest the buddy system, where one person takes notes and an other person tries to follow him zooming around the computer screen. My suggestion to Kris Fox, SLOW DOWN and verbalize what you are doing! There are two exams, the first is not difficult, but the final is a real bitch! The projects were fun, but only after seeking outside help because I could not follow my nots.

This is by far the worst professor I have had at Cal Poly. He is actually not a professor he is a grad student teacher. He has no idea what he is doing and comes to class and tries to figure it out while teaching us. By the time he knows what he is doing we are all so confused by his mistakes that everyone gives up. He goes extremly fast and does not stop to help r answer questions. His tests are crazy and even other computer grad students do not know hw to answer them. Stay away from him, I wish I had.

Bar none the worst teacher i have had at Poly. He talks realy fast and u cant not understand him, and because he is a grad student he thinks he is really cool. He makes excel and word really difficult and i was forced to go to another csc teacher for help. His final is a joke and he is paranoid about cheaters. Also he is dating his assitant so if she ever fills in for him she just as big of a... DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY SERIOUSLY WORST TEACHER EVER

Kris is a grad student whose inexperience at teaching shows. While not a great teacher, it sure beats the alternative for those who have to take CSC 234. He is much better than Hutch or Rowland, who have seemingly been the only two teaching that class for so long. He does not cause trouble to the students like Hutch does or go around in circles in teaching like Rowland does. Kris connects with the students well and teaches only the relevant aspects of C so that we can always leave class early. Classes were only like 45 minutes long. The assignments are pretty easy since he walks you through the assignment and tells you exactly what to do. If you have any trouble on the assignments, he is pretty helpful through e-mail, that is, if you know what you are doing. Exams are open book and easy. The biggest problem with the lecture was that his handwriting. It was very hard to see what he was writing on the board. Some of the concepts were vaguely explained, but at least we got a feel. Some of the overheads and assignments had errors that he had to fix. But overall, not a bad teacher to take this class with if you are required to take this class. This grad student is a huge improvement over Hutch or Rowland. Easy A if you had programming experience and not much trouble for those without. Now if he could just improve his handwriting...

There is no reason I should have failed this class, it was spring quarter and I just stopped caring. Fox's handwriting sucks and it was hard to learn computer programing when there were no computers in the classroom. Because every letter he wrote on the board was important to get right you have to ask him to clarify almost every word he writes. He was very willing to help you in class and went over things slow enough for most of us non-CSC majors to understand. There is a lot of homework and a lot of projects, but he gives you ample time on all of them. Just make sure to do it all and you will have problem getting a passing grade.

This fox isn't the worst instructor I ever have. He has absolute horrible writing, I was completely misunderstood his hand writing. If he has a tiny bit better writing, I wouldn't get a suck dick grade. Besides, he could not able to explain materials. Sucks, don't TAKE FOX, F in FOX stands for FAIL. Got it, my fellow.

Don't listen to the 15 year old reviews from people that had Fox as a graduate student professor. Fox was the man this quarter and is super chill. The class had topics that could have been covered more in lecture, but I can only see him getting better at teaching as the quarters go on. All in all, the class was great and enjoyable. He was awesome at one on one help and obviously knows what he's doing. We did it entirely web and JS based this quarter which has pros and cons. But web development is probably something all programmers should be familiar with whether you want to go into it or not.
