Dr. Schleicher is a new teacher at Cal Poly, and she is outstanding. She had no trouble explaining statistical concepts in a completely understandable way, and she was perfectly fine with repeating herself if need be. She has extensive experience as a research statistician, so she was able to provide a lot of real-world examples of how to apply concepts. The homework load was not very demanding (3-4 fairly lengthy, but very easy, problems a night, collected at the beginning of the following week), and the tests were well-written and very easy if one knew what one was supposed to know. Part of the lecture time was spent working with MINITAB, and we had a final project in which we actually analyzed data and wrote a lengthy report detailing the results of that analysis. That wasn't a difficult assignment, but it WAS time consuming. I learned the concepts very well and found the class to be very easy. She's going to be off for the next couple of quarters (she just had a baby), but if at some point you have to take STAT 217 (or 221) and you see her name in the schedule, definitely take the class from her! It's completely worth it!

This professor gets my vote for best teacher. She did a fantastic job of presenting all the material clearly and efficiently. She made everyone feel comfortable with the subject. She assigns homework regularly, but it's all easy. She also gives an occasional quiz, which is also easy. Then she also gives about 3 or 4 exams which are also cake if you do the homework. The actual course material is very easy to understand, especially if you take the class with this professor. She also does a great job of keeping students' attention and making statistics interesting. At the end of the quarter, you have to do a big project with a partner. That, plus the test, quiz, and homework grades make up your entire grade. I highly recommend this professor

By far my favorite Professor so far. I am not really a math person but she really presented the material great. She is really nice and she wants you to succeed. There are some quizes and two midterms and a final along with some labs. She would answer eamils right away and even encouraged us to call her at her house if needed. I definitely reccomend taking her. She is amazing!

She is really nice and can even be fun, but her grading is COMPLETELY unfair. Misplace a word or two and you are losing points, and if a question is unfair she really only sees one side of it...she isn't a bad professor by any means, she is actually pretty good. There are a tew midterms, a cumulative final, and two projects, you will have only a week to do each one. You will come out understanding why you are doing things, and though the tests seem easy, points get taken off everywhere for small mistakes that only a true statistician would know. Worth taking the class with her.

She is the worst teacher I have had at Cal Poly. The problem was she didn't recognize that 99% of the students in the class had never been exposed to Statistics, and this was the only class they would need to take. She would lecture about things andrefer to some concept over an dover again, but tell us she wouldn't lecture on it because it wasn't a big deal, but then she would refer to it and I wuld be like "Um, so that means?" She is a hard grader, not exactly fair, nor available for her students. I think and hear Cal Poly has the worst Stats instructors so.... she knows her stuff, but teaching is not her excelling point.

Schleicher was honestly one of the best math teachers I have ever had. I've been in a math class every quarter here at Poly so far but she was by far the best. She presents the material VERY clear and makes sure you understand it completely. SHe is very quick about getting tests and quizzes back to you. Tests werent horrible.. she is a BIG help if you go into her office hours and talk to her. All in all she was great. I HIGHLY recommend her!!

She is really nice and wants you to learn the material. She knows that you have other classes and is more than willing to help you in office hours. Even though she doesn\'t collect the hw she assigns if you do it and ask her questions in class you are very likely to get a good grade. SHe doesn\'t try to trick anyone her tests are straight forward and fair. If you have to take 217 or 218 i would highly recommend her.

Nina is a teacher who knows what she's doing. Homework was collected once a week. There were two midterms and a final. She usually teaches the early class but it is well worth it becuase she can keep your attention for the hour and explains to you exactly what you need to know for the tests. You get a help sheet for the tests. She knows that most of us only need the one stats class and the project at the end really helps you to study for the final.

Dr. Schleicher is an amazing professor. She presents the material for the class very clearly. If you ever have a question, ask because she is more than willing to help. Email her your lab assignments before you turn them in and she will get back to you right away and tell you what you need to change. Her midterms, homework, and quizes are extremely fair. If you go to class, pay attention, and put in the effort she requires, you will get an A. Also, make sure you go to class the day after a quiz or a midterm because no one else goes and she will give you extra credit! Take her and you will have no regrets!!

Dr. Schleicher was by far one of the best professors that I have had at poly. She made stats interesting and not horrible at 755am 4 days a week. She was very helpful and presented the material very clear, and would go over what would be on the test. The quizzes were easy, and there was HW that we never had to turn in, but was helpful to look over before the tests. There were 3 midterms and a final(kinda long but not too bad). This class was fun, or as fun as Stats can be, and I def. recommend taking this teacher!

Great teacher, I was so nervous to take stats after all the horror stories out there. She was a great teacher who explained things in a very clear manner. All i recommend is to go to class everyday, things move really quickly. Go to her office hours she can really help you out especially when she assigns the take home assignments.

Best teacher I have had at CP. She gave lots of examples when explaining things and was always available for help. Her quizzes were pretty easy too. As long as you looked over the hw you would be fine. (she never collected hw either) I would definetly suggest taking her for stats.

Wow where do I start. She started off the quarter telling her students she checks her email every hour and even gives a home phone number to call if you have questions. This is all a load of crap. When students really needed her towards the end of the quarter she would never get back in time for homework or mid-term help. Her midterms were not that difficult but that isn't the bulk of your grade. If you're like every other college student and can't make it to every 7:55 am class then you will definitely miss out on quizzes and pop-quizzes she gives when no one shows up the day after mid-terms. The absolutely WORST part about this class was the fact that there was no homework due until she assigned labs in week 9 and 10 and then a huge lab worth 10% of your entire grade due the day of the final. The lab due the day of the final was the whip cream on the shit cake. The majority of the class was in the computer lab in the library working on the assignment and I can safely say we all spent more time on the lab then studying for the final. She got a little self-righteous and took pleasure in telling people they missed a quiz if they didn't come to class.

Professor Schleicher is active in current STAT work and she has been published. She will make time to help a student who requests assistance, however she is NOT a mind reader. DON'T FALL BEHIND! The final project will rule your life if you are not a STAT major!

I realllly liked her! She explained material great, and if someone didnt get something, shed go back over it. You got a cheat sheet for the test, you were quizzed about once a week and the problems looked juuuust like the exam questions. exams werent too hard at all. you knew exactly what you were getting tested on. she was really approachable and funny. overall, id definitely recommend her!

great teacher i would highly suggest taking stat with schleicher. she is super good at explaining material and actually tries to help you in any way possible. her mid terms are straight forward and there are no surprises. you get to use a note card on the tests and all the questions are exactly like the examples from homework or quizzes.

Nina was my very first teacher in college and she was absolutely amazing! Its awesome to know that she actually memorized my name within a couple of days. She is a very fair teacher. Presents material clearly but its a lot of information to take in within an hour. She is always available for help. the only downside she only graded quizzes and tests. Quizzes are a big part of your grade and tests, so there is very little you can do to fatten your grade with other material. She doesn't collect homework and there was a lack of class interaction between peers, probably because it was the 8am class. Other than that Nina was a very nice teacher and loves her stats and students!
