Sperow was a really good educator for this class- her lectures are on powerpoint and emphasize some of the reading you have to do, but she changes it up a bit and uses modern examples and her own experience to make it more interesting. I know for a fact that she really cared about the student's progress in the class, her midterms aren't too tough, and she also gives four pop quizzes on some of the reading. I definitely recommend this instructor.

A great teacher for a very interesting course. She knows what she is talking about, shares her personal experience and explains everything really clearly. You have to go observe a trial and write a paper about it...kind of a hassle but a really cool project. I would definitely recommend her!

Professor Sperow is awesome! She has real life experience but isn't a stuck up lawyer. She is great at explaining the material so that normal people can understand it. Her tests aren't too bad but you need to study. She has a trial observation paper and that is about it. No real homework or quizzes. She has all of her notes on blackboard which is helpful too! I really liked her and I would recommend her to anyone!

The Good: A solid professor who clearly knows what she's talking about, assigns an extremely light amount of reading for a law class, and gives out no points whatsoever for attendance, making it pretty much optional to go to class. Also it’s pretty hard to get lower than a B and pretty much impossible to get lower than a C. The Bad: Tests that always have a few vague questions that are basically a flip of the coin. As a whole her tests are easy but due to the occasional bad question it’s hard to exceed an A- on any of them. Also they are generally quite long, with 75-80 multiple choice questions per midterm and while the class average is always quite high, the high score is usually quite low, generally around a 93. This makes it tough to get anything in the class above an A-. Overall this is one of the easier BUS 207 professors, and she’s certainly both kind and knowledgeable. Not a whole lot of time and effort goes into getting a B, but you’ll need some luck for that A!

I thought Sperow was a great teacher. She was very straightforward during her lectures and would go through each chapter on power point every day. She gave examples for most of the things we learned about and brought in a few guest speakers to make class more exciting. I also thought it was really cool to have a professor with so much experience with the subject- she has been to law school and is a lawyer, so she really knows what she's talking about. Overall, the class is very fair. If you go to class and do the reading, you'll do great! There are 3 midterms, a final, and one project where you have to watch an actual trial at the SLO courthouse and write a paper. Take her if you're interested in law!

EXCELLENT TEACHER. Sperow teaches class with an enthusiasm that is unmatched. She has so much experience in the field as a lawyer and is extremely nice and helpful. I look forward to seeing her again in future courses. VERY STRONGLY recommended. No reason not to take this class. BTW all multiple choice tests, with a few trick questions thrown in. Just BTWWWW in case you people were wondering if the class is hard.

sperow is perhaps the nicest lady i have ever met. true, the material should already be common sense, and if not, its really easy to learn. just read the booklet she put together for you and you'll be fine, you dont have to read every detail, skimming the pages should do. the end of the quarter presentation is really easy, and she's a very lenient grader because she knows you know the stuff.

Sperow was a really sweet woman. She is an easy grader and is totally understanding if you are sick or can't make class. The workload is minimal for a 400-level class. It's like taking a 100-level class. Take Sperow, especially if you want to go into Law!

Professor Sperow is a good teacher. The subject matter of Bus 404 is a little, well, juvenile in my opinion, but it made for an easy class. She will have a small handful (3-4) pop quizzes, but she drops the lowest. There is a midterm and final, and neither are that difficult. Multiple choice with two essays at the end. I would recommend her for this class.

I thought the class would really suck, but it turned out not to be too bad. 50% of my class got A's on the first exam, and her pop quizes were given immediately after a lecture, so they were easy if you were paying attention. She's sweet, and I recommend her.

Sperow was a really sweet lady. The material isn't too difficult & tests consist of multiple choice & essay. I heard she uses the same essays sometimes so try to get those. If you read & study the notes you'll do fine. There's a few homework assignments that are really easy. I didn't study enough for the final so I got a B in the class but I got an A on the first test and only filled out the study guide. I would definitely reccommend her.

Professor Sperow is one of the best teachers here at CP. She is really sweet and understanding. She presents the material very clearly and tests on exactly what she teaches. I think it might be kindof hard to get an A since she doesn't grade on a curve at all! But, if you study more than I did, you probably have a good chance (and I thought I studied quite a bit). But, regardless, she is one of the nicest teachers I have had and very smart. She knows her stuff!!!!!

Sperow is an excellent professor. Her lectures are interesting as she was an attorney for the DOJ. She presents the material very clear and prepares her students for exams and quizzes. I recommend reading the assigned material before every lecture (chapters are easy to read), participate often, and follow her study guide for midterm and final. The project is fairly easy if you put some time into it. No reason why every student can't get an A. Excellent class.

Prof. Sperow is a really nice lady and a good professor. Like everyone said below, she was a DOJ lawyer so she has really good examples and knows what she's talking about. However, this class really should be a freshman level class, because by the time you are taking your upper division classes, this class is a pointless repeat of things you have learned in all your other classes in the last 2-3 years. If you've already taken business law, ethics, and employment law classes, like I have, it was incredibly boring and I didn't even really see the need to go to class all the time. But anyway, if you have a full class load or need an easy class, take this one with Sperow, she's great.

Professor Sperow is a delight. She structures the class very nicely, as there isn't much extra effort beyond the reading neccessary. The class grade is based on a midterm & final (60-80 MC/TF, 2 essays), a presentation/research paper (easy), and a couple quizzes. This may sound like a lot, but it isn't that hard, just keep up with the reading, study a little bit before the exams, and put a decent amount of time into the presentation and you will smell the roses. Participate often if you want a grade bump. Good luck!

I really like Sperow. She is very lawyer, but in a good way. She presents the material in a good way, you don't have to pay attention all that much in class but I would recommend reading the book and going over the PPT which she puts on line. The class end with a big group project that turns out to to matter all that much because she only uses the grade from a research essay. The class consists of a midterm that you'll do fine on if you read the material and essay/project and a mid-term-esque final.

Class roughly out of 315 points. 2 midterms=150 points, 1 group presentation=50 points, 1 final=100 points, and a few easy movie reviews 5 points each. Professor Sperow is one of the better OCOB professors. She is both nice and understanding of her students, and genuinly cares about us. SHE IS AN EASY GRADER. This is not only an easy A, but also a fun one. I looked forward to class, where we talked about contemporary issues of society, business, ethics, and politics. Lectures are done from pre-posted powerpoint slides. The textbook is $60-$80 new, and its possible to get A's without reading it as long as you pay attention. The course was 3/10 on the challenging scale, which is a nice break from the harder classes you might take this quarter.

I took Prof Sperow for BUS 207 and 404. She is a nice lady, her tests are fairly straight-forward, and while her lectures are a little boring, they are easy to study off of. In 404, there is a span of almost a month where students lecture and teach on agencies, and about 1/3 of the class shows up.

She is pretty rad. Class was composed of a 2 midterms, one on subject matter, one of presentations that students created, then the final. She tells you what you need to know and doesn't assign homework. I found the material pretty interesting. Solid class, easy coursework, would take again.

Did a great job of presenting the material well and stressing what would be important for the two midterms and final. However, there was just a lot of material to cover and the tests are pretty comprehensive. Totally doable but you just have to take time to take good notes in class, show up to EVERY class, and review those notes. If you do that you most likely won't need the textbook.

Professor Sperow is one of a kind. Think of a lawyer, then make that lawyer your mom, that is who sperow is. Literally there to make a very complex class so easy, and is there to help you every step of the way if you want. I easily got a B, but if I had gone to office hours and tried harder could have definitely gotten an A without too much work. Take Sperow, at least for 404. Although, other friends in her other classes I've talked to says she is the best in those classes too!

Professor Sperow is an excellent professor!! I had her for both BUS 207 and 404 and loved both classes. She makes the courses easy compared to the other professors who teach 404 and she's really helpful and relatable! She's a practicing lawyer and judge and knows her stuff. Her class is straight forward and she lays out information that can be boring or difficult in an excellent manner. To the sexist comments below, you suck and clearly don't recognize an excellent professor when you have one. Truly an excellent member of the Business College faculty.

Sperow rocks! She presents the material in an interesting way and being a lawyer has a ton of interesting stories from personal experience to help drive the material home. The course is very straight forward and the "big presentation" is super doable, each person in my group ended up only having to speak for a few minutes each and we got an A. She is in her office all the time and always more than willing to help students out with whatever they might need. She's awesome, take her if you can!

Sperow is a great teacher and interesting lecturer, however her tests are ridiculously hard. She had two midterms and one final. 1st midterm and final are MC and short answer, second is all MC. Her study guide is misleading. She gives you key terms but she doesn't tell you that she wants you to know 3 different things about them, not just the definition. She wants you to know the history, benefits, what they can do, the criminal penalties and so on. Her test are filled with "all of the above, none of the above, A & B" etc types of questions. She's helpful during office hours but I wouldn't recommend taking this course unless you have a lot of time on your hands to study. I finished with a B- (80). Just barely got by. Studied my ass off for the tests. Got a D+ on the first midterm, B- on the second, and C+ on the final.

Sperow is awesome! She is an incredibly smart woman who knows what she is talking about. There are just 2 midterms and a final, which are not hard if you pay attention in class and study a reasonable amount. There is basically no homework, just 1 group presentation in the middle of the quarter and a 2 page "essay" due on the last day of class. I didn't even buy the required textbook and I got an A in the class so she clearly goes over everything you need to know in the lectures so go to class and pay attention and you're chilling.

Nice lady. Every class she was very pleasant and in a good mood. Smiles and laughs regularly. However, it didn't seem like she invested too much time in getting to know any of us; she never called anyone by name. Like we were just another batch of students taking the class (which is true in all fairness). She is extremely busy with other things outside such as being on national advisory boards, committees, and overseeing the LITC to bother with getting to know us. In truth, it was just her reading the power point slides for 90 minutes. Kindof a bummer, all of my other professors have spent time and effort getting to know me. The flip side is that she has tons of real world experience and tells interesting stories of relevant topics. Lots of national, state, and local government judicial and legal experience, time spent in Washington DC, and connections to powerful people. Replies to emails in timely fashion, and has plenty of office hours (although she'll be multi tasking the whole time and not focusing on you). Fair grading, exams were 80 m/c questions and a standard 5 paragraph essay. One presentation on a government agency such as DOJ or SEC etc etc. Textboook is very helpful and is up to date on current events as of late last year. Classroom atmosphere was open and relaxed. Easy question asking and discussion. Whereas business law class was about the specific mechanical workings of law, this one was more of a "big picture" kind of a class. Again, nice lady.

Straight forward class. If you dont know what you will be doing after the first week, you should not be in college. Do the reading (especially the case studies) and the quizzes and tests are very easy. A little participation goes a long way with her. The country presentation is super easy, and will be split between 5 people. I was able to get a 'B+' while missing about 30% of the classes (8am classes for the loss). Slides are provided for the lectures, which follow the book very closely. Awesome teacher, very friendly and reasonable. If you have a choice, she is definately the professor to choose.

Professor Sperow was a great teacher and really knows the subject (international law for the BUS 410 class I took). She was very friendly and always responded to my questions with a smile. The homeworks are as straightforward as you can get: you have assignments for every chapter covered of your book (which I did not purchase, I used the course reserve book in the Kennedy Library each week) and the only other assignments that contribute to your grade are the one midterm, the final, and your Country Presentation. She is not a tough grader on the country projects, and our group was lucky enough to be awarded 5 extra credit points for having the best country presentation. For homeworks, plan on reading the chapter and responding to the 1 or 2 questions after the chapter each week, it will take an hour, but give yourself an hour and a half because some chapters are longer than others. My morning class was the worst possible time slot: 8:10-10:00AM on mondays and fridays! The slots have since been moved to a later time in the morning, possibly even afternoon, most likely due to students falling asleep during the powerpoints :-P I would recommend the class to anyone who can keep up with the reading.

She is a really nice lady who knows her stuff 'cause she worked for the Department of Justice. But she goes over a lot of material and her tests are kinda hard. You have to do a group project on an issue which is pretty fun, and you learn a lot about the judicial system and how people are always getting screwed over. She's a real nice lady, but she can grade tough at times, so don't blow the class off. By the way, she's really nice.
