As the person below mentioned, Walt is a great guy. You aren't going to find a nicer guy at Cal Poly. However, you are also not going to get much out of any class he leads. He is the classic example of "those to can, do. Those who can't, teach." He really likes the theory and such behind design, but anything that is practicle is beyond him. If this guy had to stop teaching today and go into an office setting tomorrow, he would end up fired within a day. Just understand this going in and you will be fine. Have some fun with design projects and throw up a bunch of random stuff and BS the rest and he will love it. Once again, Walt is a great guy so this isn't anything personal against him.

Walt is a great guy. One of the nicest profs you will meet at Cal Poly. If you have any problem whatsoever, he is there to help. Still, it is all theory with him. No real practical experience is here to be learned. If he had to be in an office environment, he wouldn't have a clue were to begin. Maybe I will get something out of this class, but I'm not sure what. Can't say enough about how great Walt is though.
