Very kind lady and has a lot of knowledge to give about horses. Has genuine compassion for people and horses/animals. Followed schedule pretty closely and you know ahead of time what the quizzes will be on from the schedule/syllabus. Highly enjoyable class.

Katy Murphy was a great, laid back instructor. She really presented information in a way that made it easy to understand. On the tests she is really specific but if you like horses you should have no problem with this class!

I felt that Katy Murphy's class was really great. I had no problem getting up in the morning to go because I really looked forward to learning about horses. As a previously expeinced horse person I went into the class expecting to be really bored. Instead I learned a huge amount of general horse information and found it interesting to discuss different aspects of the horseworld without a specific breed or discipline bias. For beginners with an interest in horses, I highly recommend this class. For advanced horse people, I recommend taking this class with an open mind, because you'll learn something new every day. It was definitely worth it too me, and I look forward to taking more of her classes.

Katy is a really great teacher. If you don't know anything about horses, don't worry about it. You'll learn a lot from her. She presents the material in an easy to follow manner. She's very enthusiastic about horses, too.

Katy Murphy is very fun to listen to, and she makes lectures interesting, but they really have no organizational format, and you rarely know what you should be taking notes on, so good luck on the tests. She has 4 or 5 25-point "quizzes", 2 midterms, and a final. As long as you write down everything she says, including her stories, you will do fine, but it is impossible to get all of that information down. You just have to pick and choose what to take notes on, and hope you got the important stuff. Grading seems a bit subjective on quizzes and tests, but the breed report is easy - just follow the instructions to the tee and you will get an A. Overall, the class is made more difficult than it should be because of the lack of organization, but it is still fun and informative, and Mrs. Murphy is interesting to listen to.

Though Mrs. Murphy's class is a very easy A (especially with the 30 point extra credit), the class is a bunch of BS. She is not knowledgable on the subjects that are taught for this class, though she does know a lot general equine information. She tends to contradict herself throughout a lecture and over the quarter, which makes it difficult to learn the correct information. The quizzes given throughout the quarter are worth 25 points, so if u mess up on them, just do the 30 point extra credit and you can walk out with an A in the class. I dont recommend this teacher if you wanna actually learn about equine.

I have taken Murphy for all of my equine classes. If you want an easy, almost guarenteed A, take her and do the extra credit.
