MU 101 was easy and boring. Professor Brammeier treats her students like an elementary school teacher. The way she grades is she counts up your mistakes and subtracts them from a hundred, regardless of what the maximum number of mistakes could be made. This class was a ridiculously easy A. If you can stand the dullness of the material and professor, go for it, it\'s a good grade booster.

Dr. Brammeier is an excellent instructor! She is very good at teaching music theory in a way that is easy to follow and understand. For a four-unit class, the homework was certainly not unreasonable. She's a very kind woman, and you won't get frustrated with her. The only note of caution is that she tends to only call on people who's names she knows, or who sit where she can easily see them, at least for the first part of the quarter anyway. All in all, she is outstanding, and one of the best professors I've had at Cal Poly. I would definately recommend her to ANYONE who has ANY interest in music theory.

Dr. Brammier is a very good teacher and a nice lady. her class is pretty alid back, but do your homework and go to class to help your grade.

Dr. Brammeier is a young, energetic teacher who is a great asset to the music department. Her class is organized and intriguing. It's kind of like highschool in terms of the midterm and final only being worth 15% each, while homework and quizes count for a lot. Another 15% was our own composition (written for 4-part voice harmony) which we spent all quarter working on. My favorite part about her class is that we spent the entire last day before the final hearing our own compostions being sung. One at a time we got to go up in front of the class and listen to the class sing our piece looking at an overhead. It was really neat to hear our own piece like that! Great job Dr. Brammeier!!

Dr. Brammeier is easily one of the nicest professors you'll ever get at CalPoly. The class isn't too hard, and it isn't easy either, but Brammeier will definitely get you through it. Office hours are extremely helpful, she goes over material right before quizzes and tests (often finished early) and in general is very cheerful. If you have any musical background and want an interesting class that you can enjoy and learn from, take any class taught by her.

I think Dr. Brammeier might be the best teacher I have ever had at Cal Poly. I knew this from the first day of class when I first took her for 103. She is young, energetic, extremely nice and really knows her stuff. I've actually taken her for Theory I, I, and III, and will definitely take her for Theory IV in the future. Take her for any theory classes you need! Anything past 101 is not easy, but she makes the classes very enjoyable and definitely possible. You will learn a lot from her.

Brammeier was an awesome theory teacher. She is fair and really knows her stuff. Her homework assignments are not that bad and pretty helpful. I have to say, I learned a lot in theory I and will probably take more music classes because of what I learned in this class. I would take Brammeier for theory.

Brammeier was a pretty good teacher for the basically dull subject of music theory. I personally didn't like the class just because a lot of the subject matter has to do with composition, which I don't like. Nonetheless, she presented the material clearly, and her tests and quizzes were on exactly what was covered in class. All in all a nice professor and a decent teacher.

Dr. Brammeier is the only teacher for Music Theory 1-4. These are required for Music Majors. Personally, I don't like lecture classes. I like classes where the teacher involves you. In this class, you sit there for 4 hours a week while Brammeier talks at you. Sure, you can pay attention the first 10 minutes, but it's way too easy to tune her out. She only states things once, so sometimes I go to class with a surprise quiz and 20 minutes to study. Usually, when I get to class, everyone around me is asking if there was homework or if there is a quiz. Sure, she may be a good teacher for some, but I wish there was more of an option for theory. She is one of the reasons I consider transferring.

Professor Brammeier did exactly what she needed to do to be an effective teacher: she was organized, clear, and fair. I feel like the class viewed music theory a bit too traditionally for my tastes, but whether that was by Dr. Brammeier's design or the curriculum's itself was tough to tell. As an M.E., I took this class credit/no credit. I'm kicking myself now because it was ridiculously easy. I studied exactly zero minutes for the tests throughout the quarter, turned in homework sporadically, and fell asleep in a few classes. Still, I would have earned an A- had it not been for my decision to take the class for credit. The bottom line is that Dr. Brammeier is a great teacher for an easy class, but I wasn't a fan of the material itself.

The best music professor you will ever have. She is very kind and understanding to her students and she does a fantastic job presenting the course material clearly. Take her and you will not regret it.

Dr. Brammeier is love. Dr. Brammeier is life. I could never have asked for such an awe-inspiring teacher. If I had a nickel for every person who disliked her, I wouldn't have enough to buy a gumball from an outdated gumball machine. This professor excels in every area, whether it be in teaching style, teaching method, effective helping methods, caring about her students, or being all-around amazing. If you want to learn anything about music, Dr. Brammeier is the teacher to learn from.

Really enjoyed her class. It was a summer five-week course, so there was a lot of time spent preparing, but her quizzes were straight-forward and fair. She was genuinely interested in her subject and teaching. She seems to enjoy her job. Would take another class with her. The only hassle in the class was attending the three concerts, especially since there wasn't much time to get that requirement fulfilled. I would think two would be enough. There were four quizzes, one final, and a short (3 pg) concert write-up in addition to the concert attendence. She did take attendence at the beginning of class, too. Overall, great class!! Highly recommended!

never take a g.e. with her, she is way too into music to see that no one in the class likes it, they just want a way to fulfill the g.e. im sure she is an ok teacher otherwise, but the class was WAY to time consuming and hardcore for a stupid g.e.

Dr. B is a very good instructor. One of the things that makes her so great, is the fact that she takes time to help you on an individual basis. If you don't understand something, or have any questions, she'll be more then ready to help you out. She cares a lot about her students and wants them to do well.

When I came to Poly as a freshman music major I had Dr. Brammeier for Musicianship I. I have to admit that I got quite frustrated with MacGamut, the bane of my existance at the time, and because a lot of students seemed to grasp everything that was being taught in class from the start. I felt like a tiny fish in a huge pool. Throughout the quarter I practiced so much with a piano, especially for the midterm and final. I don\'t know why I could get the melodies perfect in the piano room, but once I went into her office for the individual portion of the exam, my voice would choke up and I would sing wrong pitches...I would get soo nerous! It\'s embarrassing but I cried a lot that quarter because it seemed as though my hard work wasn\'t showing through in the exams. However, Dr. Brammeier was aware of my struggles and acted like my little cheerleader: she helped me with things I was struggling with so much! She is extrememly patient and so willing to offer help. She truly wanted me to succeed in her class, and through her tremendous support, encouragement, and my hard work, I gained more confidence and started excelling in her class, so much so that I got an A by the end of Musicianship I. Music majors are only required to do the first three levels of Musicianship; however, throughout the quarter, I grew to love Musicianship. Albeit, it was at times a love-hate relationship. Nonetheless, if it wasn\'t for Dr. Brammeier\'s kind, motivating, and supportive nature, I may not have continued on to complete all six levels. Dr. Brammeier is an incredible inspiration and I will never forget her. She is amazing, inside and out. By all means, take her if you can!

I absolutely love her! She is truly caring about her students and really wants everyone to do well. Her office hours are extrememly helpful. The only thing I'd like to see is if could open up a little more. Sometimes I feel I don't have that great of connection with her...meanubg I wish I could talk to her about other things besides theory and musicianship. All in all a wonderful prof. Sometimes I just want to go up to her and give her a hug; however, I think she would feel a little uncomfortable.

I just barfed in my mouth a little when I read the reviews of Dr. Brammeier. How can you knock such a professional teacher? She's all business. She teaches what you need to know without dicking around. No meaningless personal anecdotes, no unnecessary curriculum, just the information and skills you should know. Kids take music classes thinking they're an easy A. They aren't They find out the hard way and then dump on Dr. Brammeier for it. She's an amazing teacher. I've taken six classes with her now and she's one of my favorite. Super clear on what she expects and super fair at grading. She's also a musical badass who can sight read the shit out of virtually anything. So to conclude, take her if you want a teacher that actually teaches. Don't take her, or any music class really, if you're gonna sit in class with your dick in your hands.

I took MU 324 (20th Century Music) with her. Like many others said, she is very enthusiastic professor and she is very passionate about music. Her lectures are very informative, interesting, and entertaining if you care about music. I don't think you have to know a lot about music theory, even though having a little background in music would help. She understands students' difficulties, and she never tried to force so much music concepts on us. Her tests are really easy - mostly straight forward questions. Questions are mostly from her lectures, and you could easily score close to a perfect score just with the lecture notes. The paper is not difficult, but requires some work. I blew up the second test (thought it was on a Thu instead of the Tue before). I got 97% on the first test, and 99% on the final. I'm not a music or art major, and I thought this was an easy class. If I had looked at the schedule for the second test, or studies earlier than 2 days before the test, I could have got an A in this class instead of an A-. Overall, if you like music, she is the *only* one I would recommend. Also, an easy GE class.
