Please do yourself a favor and avoid this man. He is a mean, old man who absolutely cannot teach. He is very intelligent but he cannot teach. I repeat: cannot teach...

I think I actually got dumber by going to his class. The two hour lectures are horrible. He basically just re-writes the examples from the book on the board. He is very unapproachable with questions. He humiliates any students that do not fully understand a concept or ask him to explain a problem. When I attempted to attend his office hours he was not even there. If you have any choice at all I highly recommend finding another professor that can actually teach you something.

Good lord, this man is a piece of work. The only reason I passed this class is because I've taken it before. He sidetracks all the time and never answers your questions directly. I would say that in a 2 hour lecture you only get about 20 minutes of valuable information. If you really need to learn this stuff take a different teacher otherwise, Dr. Hughes is a waste of time.

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
