While he is a nice guy, Dr. Brown is unexperienced at teaching in general. He presents material unclearly and simply reads his lecture notes to the class. He seems very smart and obviously knows what he is talking about, but has no idea how to relate it to his students. The tests are fair, but hopefully you were able to teach yourself the material or else you will fail. While his class is certainly not impossible pass, I would not recommend Brown to anyone hoping to pass Statistics 251 or the 252 follow up course which he fails to prepare you for.

Terran Brown is a new teacher and he is awful!!! He took off up to ten point each homework problem missed, so this should tell you how he graded his tests. The tests were too long to finish...and he refused to grade on a curve even if the whole class failed. I've never had below a C+ in a class until I took the worst teacher at Cal Poly, Terran Brown.

Mr. Brown is an extremely nice guy. Although he is not the best teacher, he is really understanding and willing to help his students. Use his office hours when you have questions! he really makes a lot more sense on a one on one basis. Practice midterms are similiar to the tests, so do them. I recommend Mr. Brown for Stats 251.

If you haven't taken stats before do not take him. He doesn't know how to teach, and it is obvious that this is his first year teaching. I went to class everyday, took notes, studied, and I failed the class. His homework assignments are graded like tests. He says at the beginning of the year that homework problems are graded on whether or not you attempt them. They are really graded on whether or not you get the right answer. They're worth 50pts and if you miss one answer your score drops drastically. He is one of those young teachers who think that if he knows what he is talking about you should too. He is by far the worst proffesor I have ever had and probably will ever have. I would not reccomend this class to anyone who wishes to pass stats. If you're looking to fail, take the class.

Terran Brown is extremely new to teaching and doesn't know how to clarify questions you may have. All I learned about statistics I learned in high school. I went to lecture maybe twice a week for the weekly quiz and to turn in my homework, that was it. The other two days I didn't go. It is true I got a c and could have worked harder but for what i put into the class, which is nothing, i got a decent grade. You can use notecard during your tests which should make memorizing formulas not to difficult. I always test a teacher the first day by asking a question already know the answer too to see if he could explain it to me well. Terran miseraby failed the questions I asked him. I felt sorry for all the other students who never had taken a stats class before. The only highlight of the class is that the majority of the material is online at his website creating enough information to not have to go to lectures. Give Terran a few more years.... like 10.... to become a good teacher and find a way to convey the material where normal people can understand it. Until then.... stay far far away!

I read the book, sort of understood the stuff, went to class, and felt dumber each time I walked out. The ONLY way you will ever learn a single thing from this man is in his office hours. Do NOT take this teacher he will make your life miserable.

brown is an aweful teacher. i went to his class everyday, and he never seemed to present the material clearly. he gives weekly quizzes which can bite you in the ass if you dont do your homework. his first midterm was hard because he manages to ask the most random questions on his test. i got a solid B on his second midterm and the class average was about a c minus. i studied pretty hard. and the final, well, just sucks. he asks the hardest questions from throughout the year and they are nothing like the previous midterms. did i mention that he never curves his tests despite how bad the class does. he never reinforces material and is eager to move on even when the class has no clue what is going on!AVOID HIM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE and you will be thanking yourself in the future

TERRAN IS A NICE GUY. HE'LL HELP YOU OUT AS MUCH AS HE CAN DURING OFFICE HOURS. HE GIVES POP QUIZES NOW AND THEN. IT IS VERY EASY TO FALL BEHIND SO KEEP UP WITH THE HOMEWORK. GO TO CLASS OR ELSE YOU'LL MISS A LOT.

Mr. Brown is a nice guy and means well, but doesn't know how to relate to his students. He thinks he explains things well when he just turns his back to the class and writes constantly on the chalkboard, when really you do not know what he is explaining. You have to stop him by yelling out is name to ask a question because he has tunnel vision. Expect to have at least 4 labs that take forever, 2 midterms that are designed for 90 minutes, and a final that COMPREHENSIVE!!! Plus, on top of that homework assignments that go on for days. I would not recommend Mr. Brown to anyone! If you want a challenge and no personal life...go for it!

He's not a bad guy and seems to like students but is also very intimidated by them. If you try to ask him a question in front of the class, he will stand there and stutter but if you go into his office hours, he'll act superior as if you know nothing and won't give you a straight answer. He can be confusing and difficult but it is possible to still get an A - just be prepared to do a little work and DON'T PROCRASTINATE!! The labs are hard, the homework is easy, just do it. The tests aren't impossible but they can be difficult under time constraints.

DO the homework and the quizzes. He's a little odd and pretends that he doesn't curve or give good grades, but in the end he really does. Go to his office hours and make sure he knows you are trying! And study his practice exams, those are usually just like his tests.

Terran Brown seemed to be all right guy. He knows stats inside and out, but has a hard time delivering the information in a clear and concise manner. ALthough he is new to the university and to teaching at the university level he is pretty fair with the grading. The class is hard as hell and you will learn a lot. There were quizzes every thursday and if there wasn't a quiz there was a midterm. Also, he takes full advantage of the lab days on friday. You will have to complete 4 minitab labs that turn out to be about 15-25 pages each if done properly. Very difficult class, but if you have problems with any of the material is he very helpful during his office hours...
