Rami is a very nice person, but should not be teaching. The expectations he sets forth are not what he actually expects. Grading is very picky and unclear as to why point shave been taken off. Although he does know the subject (he wrote the book) he does not teach it well at all. Lectures are unclear at best. I would not recommend this class. I have heard that Bus 387 is supposed to be rather easy, but it Rami's class is NOT. Take any other teacher for this but him.

If you want to do an incredibly large amount of work for a class that really teaches you nothing, than take this class. Expect to write many of the infamous group papers, have group meetings all the time, memorize countless behavioral and psychological theories, and vastly increase your knowledge of common sense. This is a classic case of a teacher taking their class way too seriously. Professor Shani must think that he needs to challenge all the students who were lining up to take his class, but he probably doesn't realize that it is required oorf all business students and there are not enough sections of it. Prof. Shani should realize that there are not enough sections of it and reduce the hours of mindless homework he gives so that he can offer these extra sessions in the time that he would have been grading. Come on Shani, help a few more business students graduate in four years. I know that lots of students go to school for six years, but they are called doctors, not business majors.

I highly recommend Dr. Shani! Be prepared to work, but if you do the assignments and follow directions, you should do well in his class. Keep uo on your journals, read the syllabus directions of everything he assigns, and come to class. You can really learn a ton from this course from Dr. Shani if you put in a little effort keep a positive attitude! Good luck!

DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. I have so many good things about other OB professors and there are a lot to choose from, so don't take Shani. I personally name his "role" (you assing roles in class) the slave driver. I think he just likes to study us, like we are his experiment. Also, you have to write in a journal everytime you meet (which is A LOT because you always have to meet w/ your group outside of class) and he grades them hard! You have to apply course concepts which is impossible because it all a bunch of crap anyway. Also, he wrote the text and knows it from front to back. He expects the same out of you. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!! Trust me, I learned the hard way. Also, he is not an easy A. Almost everyone gets a B.

Do not take this teacher. I felt like I was a lab rat and he was experimenting on us the whole quarter. He is condescending and rude to the students, and he thinks that org behavior is the most important thing in the world. I studied a lot for his tests, but in order to get a good grade you need to remember little details and quotes from the book. Plus he refers to himself in the third person all the time which is really annoying. Avoid taking this teacher!

The lab rat comment sums it up. Shani is a researcher (and a nice guy) who knows his subject inside and out, but the whole quarter I felt like a rat winding through a maze, in the dark, wondering what the hell I was doing there and where it would end. The class is divided into groups and the groups spend ALOT of time outside class on random activities. At the end of the quarter the team can look back and see the group dynamics and various roles that took place (and write a paper about it). So what? We already know that group management and teams have conflict! Where are the tools we'll need in order to manage that conflict? To be fair, some can be found in the text, but you won't have an opportunity to apply them in this class. Don't plan on ever understanding the grading - just forget about it, hold your breath, and crank out the requirement.

This class was an absolute joke. First of all the textbook, which he wrote, is probably the worst book I have ever studied from because of the way it is set up. The class consists of one big outside of class project, a midterm, a journal that has to written in every time your group meets (about 20 or so times), a final, attendance, and a bunch of mini group projects that are in and outside of class. We did so much "busy work" that served no purpose. An example of one of his group projects was to assign everyone in your group a kind of food they would be, an animal, and a hero. Trust me, there are many more of those projects just like that. I took this class during the summer session, which was great because he eliminated the team term paper at the end. The paper would have been around 20 pages long, so it was awesome that he eliminated it. Be aware that Shani is somewhat cocky and rude, especially during your group presentations when you are most vulnerable. My advice is to not say more than you have to and just get this stupid pointless course.

Great if you want to learn how to write long memos but terrible if your trying to learn or succeed in life. his book is copy and pasted from others, much like his brain wave patterns. Keep you and your loved ones in the dark and away from this railroad tycoon. Dr. Shani is a real nice man and his lectures were fun/interesting. Nevertheless, his tests were ridiculously hard as you basically had to MEMORIZE the textbook. The class is extremely time consuming and all group-based. He chooses your group and you better hope not to end up with a bunch of procrastinators who do not care about their grades, otherwise ... you are going to have to do everything. If you are a procrastinator and do not care about your grade, start working hard and have some respect for your teammates!

Take him over the summer!! You don't have a final and the overall class will go a lot smoother since you have to meet with your group a bunch of times out of class. The topic is sort of boring, but he tries his best to make it as interesting as possible. Sometimes he might seem like a know-it-all, but overall I think he's an okay guy. He likes to grade in clusters so no one group or person has a higher grade than anyone else, but it's still easy to get an A. He also seems to favor people and/or a group in the class and grades them easier. Just do good on you journals: write them after you meet with your group and just relate what you did to some of the topics in the book and you'll do fine. Exams are mostly hypothetically situations, not much material from the book...I don't know how I got an A on the first one and then a C on the second one. 2 exams (group essay and individual sections) for the summer session and 1 big group project.

Ok, here is the scoop on Rami: he is a little hard to understand when he is lecturing but if you are having trouble or just want to know what will be on the test, just ask him. He is very honest man and wants to help in any way but makes you initiate the conversation. Good class, not sure what I got out of it but nonetheless it was good. One thing that should be noted is that there is a lot of out of class meetings with your group and then on top of that, you have to write "journal entries" for each significant meeting... these are a pain in the arse!

I think this class subject in general is dumb. It should be part of a psychology class at best. Now for Shani. Shani day 1 will come across as a cool dude. He\'ll tell you about his background (which is pretty interesting to give him credit). But unfortunately, it ALL goes downhill from there. I had a great group, and still found plenty of reasons to hate this class. Shani\'s lectures would be great for curing an insomniac, as he complicates common knowledge with a goofy grin the whole time. He\'ll elevate his voice once in a while; but that just makes you realize again how awful he is. His grading system seems straightforward on paper, but naturally he manages to complicate it by taking off points with little to no explanation on why he did. I will say that I\'m somewhat impressed on how he\'s made a career out of common sense. BUT LONG STORY SHORT, DO NOT TAKE.

Don\'t take this professor. He clearly doesn\'t care much about his students. Professor Shani was only present for 6 lecture days when I had him as a professor. The other days were either furloughed, canceled or he had a substitute sit in for him. This guy knows his stuff, but he\'s a bad teacher.

The entire course you work with groups and have to do some sort of team term project that you present to the class, and write a paper for. It\'s not a difficult project. But through out the course you\'ll get to know your teammates because you\'re always working with them on homework, assignments, cases or the project. The tests Shani gives are ridiculous and difficult to understand. Don\'t expect to do well on it. There are two midterms and an optional take home final exam that replaces your lowest midterm. Each midterm is worth 20% and you also take it with your team. Attendance is required and you get one free-be until your grade drops a 1/3 with each absence. So make sure you can attend. His lectures are boring, but most of the time you\'ll be working with your team during class and give a presentation on your work nearly every time. Overall the class is largely curved and you\'ll end up with a better grade than you thought you would. But don\'t expect to be walking away with a bunch of knowledge. Getting and A- in the class and I didn\'t learn much from Shani.

Professor Shani is bleh. His lectures are a snoozefest and don\'t give any relevant information that can be applied towards the tests, which are RIDICULOUSLY hard by the way. Study as long as you\'d like, the class average is usually a low 30 out of 40 points. Some of the case studies we do in class are interesting, yet others seem completely pointless. Get a good group and do a fun project because that will be about the only entertaining thing you do in this class. The one good thing about this class is that he curves the ish out of the class, so what would have most likely been a C+ turned into a B+ for me. The two journals you have to turn in aren\'t that bad, and he does give an opportunity to make one up.

The lectures can be boring and the team activities may seem pointless, but its really not THAT bad. Just hope you end up in a good group (most of the class is group work) and it will be fine. I dont see why people give this guy poor ratings. He wasnt as bad as I was expecting. Yeah his lectures suck ass and most people are playing angry birds on their phones, but majority of the time you are doing group work. Groups are assigned the first day of class, and if you get into a group you dont get along with itll be a long year, but most groups functioned well in my class. Group work is like half your grade in this class, so if you make friends with your group itll be an easy class. He gave two tests, which were difficult as hell (class average like 60%, and you had to take the tests twice once by yourself and a second time with your group. Tests counted for like 30% of your grade. If you plan on or like to miss class, then I would avoid this guy as attendance is pretty mandatory as it effects your grade if you miss. For the Rami himself, outside of class he is more willing to help than if you ask him something in class.

So I got a B. Not a problem right? Wrong. I got the highest in the class on the first midterm which was an 83% and the man didn't curve it...then I got the second highest grade on the second midterm which he curved because the highest grade was a 34 out of 45. I can't imagine what the other kids in the class got. His tests are based off his book that he does a poor job lecturing on. The majority of his test questions are on material we do not cover in class and the wording of his questions are confusing. 40% of his grade is 2 midterms, 20% are 3 journals you turn in throughout the quarter, and the rest is group assignments, participation, and attendance (he takes role). He's a nice guy, but I would pass on Shani.

Since this guy wrote the textbook, he knows it front and back, and has a tendency to ask absurdly detailed and specific questions about the most random stuff. The tests are brutal multiple choice based solely on the book. Class is two hours of random group projects and discussions that do not related to the readings (which were never discussed in class the quarter that I took him. ever. ). Take Shani if you are good at memorizing tons of information and enjoy having a professor who frequently cancels class, or has someone else teach for him. He has five days posted on the syllabus where class doesn't meet, and seems to cancel it a few more times throughout the quarter or has a guest lecturer teach. Don't take Shani if you actually want to learn the material/plan on a management concentration, or don't do well with massive amounts of memorization.

His class has very little work. Definitely do the Noble Team project. There are many random activities and he does not lecture on the material in the tests. His tests are very detailed and there is really no way to study for them unless you memorize the book HE wrote. Overall, easy class, but unorganized and I was unclear of my grade most of the quarter. He was a really passionate, intelligent, experienced guy. He was very knowledgeable of the textbook and went for more of a psychology-route. I'm a psych minor and it felt like a psych class. No problems there though-- it was very cool to hear about his experiences and how they related to the topic. I guess the thing I didn't like about his class was that his exams were very difficult, in that the textbook was very content-intensive and he provided no study guide (not saying study guides are obligatory, just that it was hard to remember ALL the content you read.) DO NOT FALL BEHIND ON READING. Also, do the Noble Team Project. It helps the community and you get good memories with your group. All in all, a pretty average class that didn't have too heavy a workload.

So the class sucked, but Shani was pretty good. The class was a random collection of team activities, and the class seemed like more of a psychology class than business class. The midterms were brutal as well, and most people failed. But, Shani was a pretty nice guy. He is very helpful in office hours, and I recommend going just so he knows who you are. He knew who I was, and I ended up with an A in the class, even though I got Cs on both midterms. Unfortunately, he writes the book so you have to do the reading as well. Overall, the class wasn't great, but that's because of the material and not so much Shani. Had he taught classes in my concentration, I'd probably have taken him. I could see HR concentrations liking the class

Unclear grading, but there is a heavy curve at the end. You don't really know what you have in the class until the very last week. The textbook is written by the Professor and it is quite dense in material which is really bad because the exams are only around 35 multiple choice questions with true/false. Best way to prepare for the exam is read the textbook and know everything because it is all fair game. Also, understand the purpose of each activity you do in class because you can expect questions like that on the exam. He grades the individual journals very specifically to the rubric provided in the syllabus so be sure to have that out when you're writing the journals. As a group, you have to do about 3 presentations. One of them was 20 minutes long, but it really wasn't that bad. In summary, curriculum is very unorthodox, exams are difficult and people tend to do poorly, curve at the end, have to do a good amount of work outside of the class but nothing too crazy, Rami will laugh at your stupid questions with his heavy accent, show up to class (he takes attendance) and put a good amount of effort into the assignments and you will get an A in this class, and some of the activities are pretty fun. Lectures incredibly boring, but pay attention to the bullet points because I saw a couple of questions on the exam that were related to the powerpoints, but the powerpoints is off of his textbook too.

So this class' material was very subjective to the professor's opinion. First of all the book was his own work, which isn't the bad part. But our tests and quizzes could easily be argued for various answers. Even if an answer wasn't correct or didn't make sense, it was the correct answer because it was finalized in the book (which didn't make sense half of the time because of grammar and word errors). So like I said it was very subjective. We had a 20 page project due at the end of the quarter which was fine and I learned a lot from, but he gave it back to all 8 groups in a four day span. You can't tell me he actually read all of our projects. We got a B because we had low effort; if we would have gotten docked for another category I wouldn't have questioned it, but our group wrote 25 pages out of the 20 page minimum. It is a subjective class to the professor. Unfortunately, it is complicated to understand him but he would ramble on during lectures and would give us cases to read that we would have to return to act out over and over again in the next class session. He also graded us on participation, which wasn't fair because he surely didn't know more than maybe five peoples' names in the class. I just think class was a waste of time, and it was a fixed grade. I feel like I was a psychology experiment in this class. I can honestly say I have walked out of the class with zero retention of any information. There is a fat curve at the end because of how awful everyone does. Don't take him if you can.

Shani knows the subject very well and one on one he is a nice guy. As a teacher though, couldnt be worse. He has done OD stuff for probably like 30+ years and expects us to know just as much as him in 10 weeks. Not happening. On top of how much it is, the material is very boring. The midterms are ridiculously hard and you would have to microscopically analyze the book 100 times over to know some of the stuff he asks, but the optional take home final bumped me from a B- to a B. He cancels class a lot which is nice because you can use the time to work with your group, and make sure to get a good group because a lot of your grade is based on the project and paper. I did not like the textbook at all, chapters were long as hell, it was hard to understand and, most of the time just confused me more. I did not like how the first midterm was structured. However, the 2nd midterm and optional final were much more manageable (power points) they really had you research and learn the concepts rather than reading a textbook and trying to figure out what you might be tested on.
