I think this was his last quarter here. He was a nice guy, but he is losing his memory. If he does come back, take his class, it isn't very difficult.

Wheatley almost gives you the answers to his quizzes before you take them, he literally gives you the answers to the homeworks, and is more than willing to give them to you if he forgot to earlier. If your class wants more time on an assignment, just say so, and he'll be more than happy to grant an extension. There are 5 quizzes, no midterm, you get to drop the lowest quiz, and you get a full sheet of notes for each quiz. This is what support classes are supposed to be. Take him if you get the chance.

Dr. Wheatley is a riot. He is too funny, although not always intentionally. He is a super nice guy who seems like the defintion of "absent-minded professor". The class was fun and he definately knows his stuff. He can get side-tracked easily but somehow we managed to cover all the material. I wish he had not retired :(

Professor Devaney must have been a star employee back in the 60s and 70s. He clearly knows the stuff that he's talking about, and he's able to do complex math in his head. Problem is that he loses track of what he's doing way too easily and by-passes crucial steps for us to understand the material. His examples often have errors (including easy adding and multiplication errors), he forgets stuff for the class in his office or at home, and arrives late for class often. I respect Devaney as a nice teacher with great material (his quizzes and h.w. are in most part do-able and it's easy to get an A in his class), but the text he uses (which he's a co-author) lacks good examples to explain things well and the professor has reached an old age that he should accept and work with it outside teaching. He should have stayed retired like he did a few months ago. Since he's the only professor for this class, good luck!
