If you go to all the lectures and labs, it's an easy A. I have no idea where some of these people came up with the idea that he's sexist, but maybe it's because most girls aren't able to get their hands dirty with heavy machinery. I'm a girl, and had a lot of fun. I also got a good grade and I missed a few classes. Pay attention and try to enjoy it

ATTENTION FEMALES: most of the people in this major are men. However, for the few females in this course and in any course gary teaches, make sure you keep track of your grade. Gary is sexist.. he makes sexist comments in class, he gives women lower scores on labs and other assignments. It is very difficult to get a solid A as a girl in his class, and its a reality that many of us women have to deal with. Its not a funny thing. its very serious. I have been a straight A student all my life, and worked very hard in this class, harder than most of my male counterparts. Unfortunately, sometimes your best isnt enough when you choose a major such as brae or asm.

For all the girls who think Gary is sexist, He isn't. If anything he favors girls because there aren't that many in our major. Gary knows a lot about what he teaches because he has been around it all his life. Gary is a hilarious person and can teach you a lot.

This class is a fun for you ASM's out there. Gary presents the material clearly and leaves nothing for you to learn on your own. Labs are very hands on and he makes students do most of it so you get your hands dirty. Quizzes come directly from your notes as do exams. Follow your lab format and get all your info in there and you'll do good. Put a picture of Gary on the cover page. The few HW assignments you have aren't hard at all. Helpful in his office hours if you have serious questions. Got a B+ and learned a lot from Mr. Dr. Gary

Weisenberger's lab for Welding is the choice to make. Only three lab reports are required for the whole quarter, and they are graded more-or-less on how much and how well you fill them out. Projects are graded on how much you try, too. He weights the lecture grades very lightly, since, in the IME department, the lab instructor assigns the final grade. This is very helpful, because Prof Strahl writes ridiculous tests and gives weekly quizzes. The guy knows what he's talking about, and skimming the lab assignment before class helps to fill in the grey areas in his demos. He says, "Here again" frequently, even for material he's never addressed before....at least in that lab section, anyway.

Mr. Weisenberger has the practical knowledge that more and more instructors at cal poly seem to be lacking. Mr. Weisenberger is an everyday machinest and his expert knowledge of the material show in his ability to convey the information. I highely recomend anyone to attend his class he also teaches IME 142, you will get some practical experience from his real life examples.

Weisenberger is a good teacher. He has a ton of real world knoledge, being a machinist by trade. He is generally very helpful, but sometimes he can get irritated if you do something stupid. His lectures are interesting, and the labs are really fun. Take some notes, and don't miss any assignments (like I did), and you will do well.

gary is an interesting guy, he babbles out some nonsense about putting tools back in your field box or they "disapear" in the "knee-high grass" which is actually shorter than my lawn. He has a FAT combover that accentuates his retardedness when he's talking to himself in the bovine pastures(he does that frequently while teaching surveying). Any potential BRAE students should avoid this man like the plague, oh yeah and don't use your Range Poles for polevaulting the fence, it just doesn't work, trust me.

Mr. Weisenberger is a regular cut and dry teacher. he uses the regular scare tactics in the beginning of the quarter to snap u into shape. he wants PERFECTION. I was more scared about using the right pencil lead than I was completing his huge labs. Get used to going into overtime for this class, 4+ hours easily. My recommendation is to buddy up with the smartest people u can find in the beginning group selection. If not you will be subject to the wrath of his red pen.Try to understand his pre lab description, cause i found that both of my partners would miss the same information. Play his game and jump through the hoops and u will come out average. I don't want to imagine what u would have to do to get an A.

Gary is a pretty laid back guy. He was always helpful when i needed it and always gave the right advice. He is also a very fair teacher. The only reason i got a B+ in this class was a demise of my own stupidity. He is such a great guy that he fixed the class dinner one night.

Teacher definetly knows his material. Show up to class and you will get an A. He has favorites in the class though, and if you're not a favorite, he doesn't really care to help you.

Gary knows just about everything there is to know about engines. He is kind by nature and always willing to help, as long as you put in the work. Show up, do the assignments, study, and you'll be fine. Don't expect an easy grade, this is an upper division advisor approved elective for engineering majors, it's supposed to be a bit hard!

Gary is the best instructor ever. He will go out of his way to make sure that you understand the subject and know what you are doing. Sometimes he will just stand back and watch you fumble around but he will never lead you astray. Take Gary's classes even if they are not required, you will learn more from him than 90% of the teachers on campus.
