Youbetter be big on finite details. Asks the most abstract questions on exam in poorly worded form. Admits poor question writing but gives no credit. Avoid if for G.E. or your giving yourself a headache you don't need.

Straightforwardlecture on which quizzes and exams are based. BUT MUST PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Piece of cake as long as you can memorize well. Exam and quizzes are fair although sometimes wording can be somewhat vague.

The week before you take a midterm in there, go pay her a visit at her office hours. She'll give you a copy of the old tests to study off of and takes notes, you just can't photo-copy them. The questions, well, they don't change much. As long as you get the jist you'll be just fine. Plus, you won't have to worry about falling asleep in her class. You'll be writing down notes so fast that the smoke from your pencil and paper will keep you awake. Coffee helps, too.

Agood professor. Very straight forward lecture stlye using transparencies. Exams are mostly mult choice and the grading scheme is fair. The lab portion of the class is generally taught by grad students, so usually they aren't too rigorous.

Mrs Waterbury was a realie nice teacher, she was realie patient and gentle..but getting to the point of her lectures, they were realie slow and boring, my roomate and i usualie took naps in that class, she would also talk about things that weren't relevant to the course, i mean the course was pretty hard and demanding itself, and after she finished commenting on something irrelevant, she would go 'you dont need to know that'..kinda made me impatient because her tests were realie difficult and she tried to cover a whole chapters infomration in 1 lecture when she was in a rush, she didnt even have prejector notes before or powerpoint projector notes! it was onlie until the end taht she started using them..but again..posting too much irrelevant information..she gives you test review handouts..but since she covers such a wide range of information, you dont know what to study for.. her scantron tests are sooo long..sometimes 100 questions plus a little SAQ shet at the back..probably the onlie good thing is if you get a differnet lab teacher..and dr waterbury lets youdo extra credit work! good luck guys i hated lecture!

Dr. Waterbury is an ok teacher. She did all of the notes for the class on the overhead and went throught them very fast. So all you really had time for in the class was to write them down. There were three tests that werent that hard and very fair in what she asked. Over all I think she is an ok teacher.

The nicest professor I've ever had at cal poly. She wanted to know people's names and would chat with you in office hours. Her office hours were helpful. BUT, just another stupid class where all you do is memmorize a bunch of crap and now that spring break is done, i've forgotten most of it. Her teaching style does not incorporate very much conceptual learing because the tests are 60 to 80 multiple scantron questions, then about 20 to 40 points are fill in the blank, short essay, and drawing. If you can memmorize and spit out random iformation in the form of a scantron, then you'll do well. I dont memorize very well and was not impressed with her teaching style. She uses over head projector that shows notes. all you do is copy them down. She went so fast, I said skrew this and just copied the notes from her (copy machine) before lecture in her office hours. That way I could listen and think about what she was saying instead of furiously writing notes. On exams, she will ask TRICK questions and will test you on info from the book. If she says "read this section..." and its only a few pages, expect a test question from it. She did give an extra credit assignment, which was nice. The work load other than reading the book and studying is not very much. But, you need to read a lot and study a lot, so I though it was a difficult class.

Professor Waterbury is a really great teacher. I had her for both lecture and lab and I loved the class so much I changed my major to Micro (from regular Bio). I was never bored, and the lab was the most interesting I have had here at Cal Poly. You will stay awake, as you find you must write faster than you ever thought possible to keep up with her lecture. Towards the end she did provide more handouts, which was nice. The tests are fair and you can get at least an A- on them by carefully reviewing the notes and only specific diagrams in the textbook. Make sure to study ALL the handouts though. There are opportunities for extra credit and Professor Waterbury is very friendly and helpful during office hours.
