Crazy like every other Aero prof.. Gives pretty easy tests. If you do the homework, you'll get at least a B on them. One of the only trully all-around likeable prof's in the department.

Dr. Tso Probably one of the funniest instructors you will ever have to take, though not intentionally. As far as the professor side of his personality is concerned he is definately 100% into the course. His dark side however is he will rediculously ream your grade on exams (one wrong number will spell an instant C if not worse). If only he had the mind set that we are students he would be an excellent teacher.

Dr. Tso is really good at explaining the concepts. He does grade tough, but to getting a B in the class is not very tough. Go to all the extra review sessions he provides and it will help.

Very good at explaining things, even if he does go over things more than once. In the same quarter I had Dr. Marshall and Dr. Tso explain Buckingham Pi Theorum, and I didn't understand a word Marshall said, while I got it pretty quickly with Tso. Does more than enough examples in class that it's very easy to grasp what he means. And yes, has an inhuman obsession with reservoirs of beer.

Dr. Tso is the MAN!!!!! At first it is hard to understand his lecture, but I got used to it within a few days. Definitely willing to help any student with any problem, even if its from a lecture 3 weeks ago. One thing to remember is that if you give a general question expect a general answer, it's best to list your questions before his office hour that way you can get the most out of his knowledge. And believe me this guy knows ALOT. Oh, and make sure to do the homework, especially the challenge problems he emails (they are very similar to the test in difficulty and style [his tests can be hard, but you learn ALOT]). DO THE HOMEWORK and ask questions and you will do fine. Definitely take him for 301, i'm signed up to take him for 302 next quarter and cannot wait!!!

Kinda pointless to grade aero profs since we don\'t have choices anyways, but oh well, I\'m doing it anyways. Doesn\'t really teach a whole lot, 301 was pretty easy. Do the extra problems repeatedly and you\'ll do fine.

It might take you an entire quarter or two to figure out that Jin Tso is the funniest guy on Earth. Sandpaper on face? Holy Grail. Study your notes a bunch and do the extra problems. The textbook homework problems won\'t help you as much. His final is tough. Every problem expects you to combine everything you learned during the quarter. Don\'t count on the curve to save you, either; most students do pretty well on his tests. Jin Tso\'s lectures are amazingly organized and clear. His writing on the board is very clear, but often repetitive. The most annoying things are he lectures too slowly and he camps in front of the board while he writes. You\'ll learn patience in this class. The sooner you figure out how awesome Jin Tso is, the better, since you\'ll be taking him for 302 and if you\'re aircraft, 307 Wind Tunnel Lab.

I don't normally post on this site, but I wanted to leave a warning here regarding Aero 301 & 302 for future Aero students. I would say that Aero 301 is probably the one Aero class that people fail the most, or at least get the lowest grade in. This is probably for a number of reasons, notably that you just got out of 300 and the material seems comparatively simple so you slack off, but also because the tests are graded inconsistently and there is no homework to pad your grade. Just be careful: I've got a number of friends who had to re-take this class because they get A's and B's in Aero classes and walked out of this one with a D-. As for Dr. Tso, you'll get incredibly confused if you try to listen to him, just copy down exactly what's on the board and it'll make sense (what comes out of his mouth is gibberish, but the board is clear).

Tso isn't that great. He goes too fast. Does the same problems repeatedly. If he starts #2 and gets halfway through on day 1, he will start the whole thing over on day 2, wasting time in the process. For the fluids portion, he RACES through the material, talking to himself on the board and writing derivations and equations on the board WAY too fast, and without explaining them or giving them any meaning or substance. I learned least from this class, becuase it was a memorize the equations type deal compared to learn and understand. Tso is mediocre at best, at least for undergrad stuff.

I can't understand a word this guy says, between the mumbling, studdering, and horribly thick accent. On top of that, he writes small and very hard to read from the back of the room.

I liked Tso a lot. At first he was a little difficult to understand but I think he realizes this issue and compensates by writing everything he says on the board. His explanations and lectures were clear and understandable. His tests are pretty easy if you pay attention in class to the examples and do the homework. All in all, Tso's class is one of the ones I enjoyed the most since I've been here.

First off, he does have a very thick accent and he does write very small. He also tends to use the entire board down to the bottom, so it's best to sit in the front row. But once you get past that, he is a good professor. He explains things pretty well, though he does have trouble sometimes recognizing where students are having problems. He didn't do as many examples as I'd like, though he got better at that later in the quarter. If you take the time to do the homework problems he assigns, then you should be okay.

this prof is awesome. hes hard to understand at times cuz he has a thick accent, but you'll figure it out. hes always laughing, makes class fun and interesting. he asks specific people questions, so know your stuff so you dont sound like an idiot. but if you get it wrong, he just laughs and moves on. he explains stuff well and has plenty of examples. actual quote from class: ...and you say wow, what is isentropic? and i say its easy, its a word.

What a horrible professor. It is impossible to gain anything useful from lecture. First, he has an accent. Fortunately, it's not a very thick accent. But he also stutters. A lot. And he mumbles. AND he had a stroke. And he stands in front of what he's writing so you can't see. I think you get where I'm going with this. Lecture is absolutely worthless with this guy, but there's no way to avoid him. And then there's his grading. Does this guy just hate me or does he treat all his students this badly? If I thought I knew the material well, I'd fail the test. If I thought I had no clue what I was going to do, I'd fail the test, but oddly enough, by less than when I knew better what to do. This guy just seems to enjoy taking points away. In fact, on a few of the tests, he went through and reduced points after an initial grading. A -5 for one missed part became a -10. What's the deal with that? My best advice would be to avoid this teacher, but that's not possible in Aerospace Engineering, so good luck with this idiot.

Man, this guy did freaking squats in front of the board for two or three hours everyday. It was amazing. I couldn\'t pay attention because of his Iron Thighs. Yes, IronThighs... So I didn\'t learn anything. Hopefully you will take a teacher where you dont have to teach yourself. He should be in the weight lifting olympics for Taiwan. He\'d win gold for sure.

Jin Tso is the man. His tso-isms are why i get out of bed to go to his class. \"Ohh no, i gonna find someone to fill my turkey with entropy!\" \"You are wrong\" \"ohhh yeahhh ohhh wowww\" Jin Tso is a happy happy man who is also a genius. You wont understand him until the third week of class. He can out do anyone in squats with his tso squats. Do most of the hw he assigns, always do his extra problems and the class will be easy. if your an aero your stuck with the man, so love jin tso

Consider this a review of 301 and 302. The trick to his class is to do and understand all the homework (it\'s not hard in either class, but some problems are long) and the extra problems he sends out. That\'s really all there is to it. The class and the material are both easy. Nothing to sweat about at all. The entire grade is tests, which is why you really need to be well practiced. Unfortunately Dr. Tso cares just as much about you getting the right answer as using the right method. Each test was two problems with multiple parts. Sometimes he added in a really short conceptual question. You get a cheat sheet and some tests are open book. Dr. Tso is awesome... enjoy!

Dr. Tso's a great guy. You'll get used to his way of teaching. This lab is pretty much the follow up to 306. He has to be one of the funniest teacher's I've ever had. If you have a problem, go talk to him. He will try to help students FOREVER during office hours (leads to long lines at times), but he'll make sure you leave knowing the material. If he did a derivation in class, expect to know it on the test. He likes to have students meet him outside of class (review sessions, lab preparation), go to as much as possible. He'll give you an idea of what to study for.

what can we say about dr. tso? he is a great teacher and a hilarious person. if you have any trouble at all, go to his office hours and you WILL understand the material by the time you leave...he'll make sure of that. sometimes with his teaching schedule he gets VERY busy but all that really means is that you won't get your graded labs back till towards the end of the quarter, if at all. be prepared to hear a lot of "tso-isms." and the working fluid on most days will be a reservoir full of beer for aero 301.

Tso knows his stuff. Overall one of the best, most intelligible profs in the aero department. Very helpful in his office. Has an odd sense of humor, and he'll know your name after about 14 tries. Take as many Tso classes as you can.
