I found Snetsinger to be a pretty boring guy who i had a hard time staying awake to. He assigned a lot of reading for this course, but thankfully his final was not cummulative. You have to do all the readings and go to class if you excpect to do good in this class. The readings arent that significant to american history though. A few on womens movements, jackie robinson, mississippi, organized crime. He didnt really do a good job in tying all these topics together at all, and it is a good idea in your essays to quote from the readings since he wrote the book. I would reccomend taking a different course, like HIST 204 or somethihng, or at least a more interestin and in\forming instructor.

Professor Snetsinger teaches in very conversational manner. His tests (at least the multiple choice part) are extremely straight forward and come right from the assigned reading. I didn't even look at my notes to study. There are two midterms and a final but they are not cumulative and are all worth the same amount. The first part of the tests are multiple choice and the second part in essay. I recommend you use direct quotes from the reading for your essay, he really likes that. Also, pay attention to the videos, they show up on the tests.

Professor Snetsinger was a really good teacher and made the lectures pretty interesting. He does tend to almost repeat the entire previous day's lecture in the intro to his next one, but this is helpful if you miss a day, which I often did. Tests were fair, and you should do fine if you do the reading. Usually around 35 multiple choice questions and a 2 part essay. Multiple choice is about 85% from reading and you will do much better on the essay if you quote or use specific examples from the reading.

Professor Snetsinger knows his material but has an absord way of presenting it. He has a tendency to repeat himself over and over, so that if you attend class about every other day you are probably not missing anything as he gives the same lecture twice in a row, unless there is a video. Also, I suggest you sit in the back and far away from him if possible, as his voice is obtrusively loud, and he has a tendency to stand over a person, (more often than not me), and lecture practically on top of them so that you feel you personal space is being greatly violated, not only that but he will spit on you while he is talking. More than this man's disgusting personal habits is that fact that he knows nothing, and is merely regurgitating ideas he once learned in school. He speaks candidly of religion and politics, so if you are a person who is easily offended, you should consider this and the fact that he presents his opinion as truth. All in all, this man is a pompous, ridiculous turkey disguised as a professor, showering not knowledge but his own spit on his students.

I just about fell off my chair while reading the previous rating because it was hilarious! Because of this, it prompted me to rate my experience as one of his students. Although this is a lecture-style class, I classified it as a lab. I did so because of the spitting, because when you leave class you can run over to be biology department, put the spit on a slide and examine it under a microscope in order to see what he had for lunch though you can sometimes smell that on his breathhhhhhhhhh. In terms of personal hygiene, I think he owns two or three shirts and rotates them, though I don't think he has them cleaned and pressed as often because they look wrinkled after the second or third go round. He is clean shaven and that is to his credit. Personal appearances aside, I found the class interesting and have no doubt that he has mastered the material and presents it effectively. He is accessible and does his best to make the lectures interesting. I belive that he repeats his material, because he wants the material to 'sink in' and tests from the reading so that you can benefit from the lecture and his wealth of knowledge. In sum, Dr. Snetsinger needs to get on the proverbial ball in terms of his person but since he's been here for what seems like eternity maybe it doesn't matter at this point so he puts his efforts elsewhere. In terms of academics, he's demonstrated to me he knows his material and presents it well. So much for my essay for the illustrious Dr. Snetsinger.

Snetsinger is seriously a walking text book! He is pretty hard to follow in class because he speed races through the lecture after rambling the 1st half of the period. He is a very intelligent man and quizzes are a breeze if ya just put random facts from the stories in them. He LOVES statistics and direct quotes, he prob. gets a big O after reading a quiz he likes. Just right alot of facts. Theres no final which is awesome, just three midterms and they are not cummulative. The third midterm counts as your final. You have to keep up on the reading though, and you'll do fine. Don't get distracted by the sweat spot, TO BE BLUNT, under his right boob.

Prof Snetsinger is a nice guy who wants you to learn rather than just pass the class. From what i have seen, if you do the reading you should get at least a C, if you dont, well sucks for you, the quizes and midterms are half based on the reading. He does repeat things over and over, sometimes 3 classes in a row, but it just builds it in your head. He presents completely, but can be a little bit scattered in his thoughts. Go to class with the mentality of listening to the history channel, cuz thats what you are getting, just not many videos.

I thought he was a great teacher who was REALLY enthusiastic about teaching...he knows so many random facts i was in awe....he loves history and he wants his students to too....it gets sad though when he tries to get people to answer questions and no one voices their opinions, but anyway...take this class if you can...fair grading...interesting articles (Like ones ones on the Beatles and smoking)...easy essay question quizes weekly....and three fairly easy midterms...he seems really into helping students and office hours, but i never went bc i didnt need to...TAKE THIS CLASS, good tymes yall, well as good as history can get

THis guy loves history, and he knows some really cool facts. His excitement almost makes me like history....almost. But the quizzes and tests are easy as long as you take notes on the lectures and read.

Snetsinger is a great history teacher. He really knows his shit well and it is obvious during the lectures. The lecture on WW1 and 2 were very good and actually made me want to show up. The rest of the class during the 50s and 60s was just about hippies and crap so it got pretty boring, but obviously that is not his fault. He really likes when students ask questions because almost every day the class just goes 50 minutes with him talking straight through with no interruptions. His quizzes are based on lectures and the book, so you need to read the essays if you want to do well. As for the people talking about the sweat stain on his shirt below, so what? I don't know about you but I don't go to a history class to stare at a guy's shirt, I go there to listen.

Snetsinger is a great guy. You can tell that he is very passionate about what he teaches and is genuinely interested in history. Although the class seems long because no one ever asks a question, on the rare day that someone does, his whole faces lights up and you can tell how much he loves teaching. The material is interesting because though we all took a US history course in high school, the assigned reading presents a new twist to the material and a whole new slant on the subject that you may never have considered before. MAKE SURE YOU READ, because although there is a lot of it, every article, no matter how pointless they sometimes seem, helps you on the tests and quizzes. Good luck! You'll love him.

This was a fair class and most people found it pretty easy. If you miss an occasional lecture and understand the readings, it should be no problem to get a B or C. However, I was not a freshman taking all GEs, so I didn't take the reading assignments seriously. You really do have to do all the reading (and remember it) since half the test is reading material not covered in class. If you pay attention to all the lectures, have a decent understanding of the readings, I would highly recommend taking the essay exam option. It takes more time, but I think there's a better chance of getting a higher grade. But all in all, Snetsinger really knows his material, is helpful in office hours, and doesn't give boring lectures.

pretty easy class. Snetsinger is a really nice guy and didnt make the exams too hard. basically you just have to have a basic understanding of the lecture material and read the assignments to get a good grade. the readings can be kinda long, but not too horrible, but they will help you on the quizzes and midterms, so they aren't pointless. overall, a pretty easy class, not too much stress or studying involved, just some time-consuming reading assignments.

This class was awesome! If your a history buff you should definitly take this class. I took AP US Hist in high school and i learned a lot in this class. His lectures some are interesting adn some are really boring and the reading isn't that bad but just long sometimes. His tests are pretty easy and he lets you either take a multiple choice test or an essay one. It's a pretty laid back class and actually interesting. He is a really nice guy who knows his stuff. I definitly recommnend taking him!

I loved Dr. Snetsinger's lectures. He presents the material in a very interesting way and he knows his stuff. His quizzes and tests are easy as long as you read the articles and review your notes. He tends to repeat himself a lot but it just makes the material get stuck in your head better. He also loves it when people ask him questions in class. Time goes by extremely fast. I definitely recommend that you take him!

Professor Snetsinger made history interesting and relevant to someone who usually dislikes it. Very helpful when you ask questions. Class is structured with 3 seperate (non-cumulative) exams and 5 quizzes that are about 50/50 on lectures and reading. The texts are collections of historical essays, not a discription of the lectures. Overall, great guy!

Professor Snetsinger is epic~! This class was very good. I learned a lot from it. Prof. Snet. delivers the information very well. Don\'t get behind on the reading material. Print out his outlines and take good notes under each outline as he talks about it. Do these two things and you\'ll ace this class. If you don\'t understand something, don\'t forget office hours. He is extremely helpful and will really give you the answer to all your question.

He loves his job. His lectures are not boring because he makes them really interesting. Just make sure you are always on top of the readings assigned for homework and take good notes in class. The only thing that can be hard is he makes the lectures up himself, so if you don\'t pay attention, you won\'t do well on the midterms & finals.

Professor Snetsinger is by far the best history teacher I have ever had! I started his class with a negative attitude, because I\'ve always dreaded history, but now at the end of the year, I can honestly say that it was my favorite class of the quarter! Snetsinger is very organized and aware of students\' needs. He always sends out emails that remind students to read passages or prepare for upcoming quizzes. Snetsinger was consistent with this and it truly helped me to succeed in his class. In his History 207 class, students are required to read short stories about significant figures throughout American history. The stories are unlike anything I\'ve ever had to read for history and are EXTREMELY interesting and easy to follow! I would highly recommend signing up for Snetsinger\'s History 207 if you\'re a \"history-dreader\"...because this class truly made me love the subject!

This instructor gives extremly easy quizes that set you up perfectly fot the tests. If you are naturally smart you do not even have to study to get an A. He is really enthusiastic about what he teaches, and although it didnt make me enthusiastic about it, it was easy to listen to. Overall, this is a perfect class if your looking to fulfill a GE

Oh Snetsinger, I just loved him from day one. He's just your typical sweet old guy who is super passionate about American History. He's no wacko righty patriot though, he stays pretty fair throughout the class I have my assumptions about his political views but it was never very clear. American History is not my favorite, it can get pretty dull since it's been drilled into us our whole lives, but he presented lots of new and interesting information that I didn't know about. I loved his class structure, there were like 5 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. They were all multi choice with short essays at the end. No papers or outside work, very manageable reading compared to most history classes and the books were pretty cheap. Every day he starts by doing a short recap of the last class lecture and then continues on with the new stuff. It makes it very easy if you miss a class or if you simply forgot what was being lectured. If you like to just sit back and be lectured at while you take notes as the story unfolds, this class is for you. There's not really any discussion, he doesn't try to ask the class questions, which I personally feel waists time. I'd definietly like to take another class of his in the future!

History has never been my subject, but I read pretty good reviews about Snetsinger so I didn't dread it too much. Once the class began, I didn't mind it at all! Snetsinger is so enthusiastic about the material, which helps for learning it and is pretty cute. His grading and assignments are straightforward and fair. I must admit I nearly fell asleep several times during lecture, because history simply can get boring to me, and also because it was in the middle of the day--usually nap time. But he wasn't monotone or anything like that. I highly suggest Snetsinger for history!

I really liked Professor Snetsinger's class. History is not my subject, but Snetsinger made the class interesting. He teaches more than just 'what happened' but also 'why' and 'what people's views were on events at the time'. He makes his class very organized and easy to follow along, and is very helpful at office hours. Take him if you get the chance!

Dr. Snetsinger has professed his extensive knowledge of American History in a straight forward yet thought provoking manner(in History 410 which I took last quarter and History 387). Both quarters I had plenty of questions to ask and he was always available to answer them and chat about other related topics too. Dr. Snetsinger is one of my favorite professors at Calpoly. If you are a serious student, I suggest you look into taking a class of his in the winter quarter of next year.

First off, Dr. Snetsinger is an awesome professor. He is hard, the midterm and final cover a lot of material in detail, and you have to write a 7-10 page paper, but you will learn probably more in his class than any other class you have taken. The material is very interesting and you can tell he is passionate about teaching. He is very good with students and anyone who has a chance to take him should do so.

This professor is pro-Reagan and I think Ronnie was one of our worst Presidents. So even though I did excellent according to nearly every student in the class he was jaded and gave me only a B. His pet wrote on Reagan horridly with many inaccuracies and was essentially a revisionist propagandist for the ultra right wing cabal that has taken America to its knees. I would recommend Snetsinger only if you admire the Goose Step. Otherwise go for an actual academic. At one point after class when we were walking with a few students he told me james Madison was not one of his favorite Presidents at all, and that he essentially disliked the author or the Bill of Rights. he is entitled to his opinion, but it was clearly an offensive remark given the fact he knew I was distantly related to this President. In the end an academic like this is an embarrassment to any history program. My paper on the 1953 Coup on Iran was well received by the class. Many called it the best paper. Cal Poly is diminished by the lack of quality and picking profs that do not truly believe in academic freedom like this one.
