Walking into this class on the first day I could tell this class wasn't going to be fun... but boy was I wrong about the magnitude of suffering I would have to endure. Avoid at all costs. He doesn't know how to convey the material, loads of homework and busy work in a short amount of time, and writes EVERYTHING on the board in the smallest handwriting possible (sometimes even incorrect info). I would have asked questions but I wouldn't know where to start since he tends to be confusing. You're better off staying home and teaching yourself for the time the lecture meets. The only reason I took this class was to be a full-time student. Again, try not to take a class with this professor. If you can't avoid it... God's speed...

So what happens when a professor reuses tests all the time and the students catch on and actually do well on one... you throw out the test they just took and give them a new one the class period immediately following... enough to make any college student bitter...

This guy sucks. He doesnt know how to teach, forcing you to learn it yourself. He confuses his students AND himself during lectures. He stalks student athletes. He has no patience. His grading scheme sucks (the final is 50% of your grade). He is the type of professor that says one thing and does something completely different. He is a nice guy, but to sum it up, he is basically an annoying, pudgy little smurf that I wanted to slap upside the head everytime. And to top it off, he gave me my first C in my IME undergraduate career. Your grade is pretty much up in the air until you actually receive it. Im so pissed.

I CANT BELIEVE THIS GUY IS ALLOWED TO TEACH. THE WORST TEACHER IN ALL OF MY LIFE. HE DOESN'T PREPARE AT ALL, HE KNOWS HE SUCKS AND STILL DOESN'T CARE AT ALL. WHY? BECAUSE HE'S ANOTHER PHD'er THAT MILKS CAL POLY FOR A LARGE SALARY WHILE PROVIDING NOTHING IN RETURN TO THE STUDENTS OR THE SCHOOL. A WAIST OF TIME, MONEY AND EFFORT. HE TRULY SUCKS, HE CANNOT PRESENT MATERIAL, HE IS VERY UNORGANIZED, AND HE DOESN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS ALL USED FOR. WORST OF ALL, DESPITE STUDENTS PLEAING AND BEGGING TO HIM, HE DOESN'T TRY TO ADJUST HIS TEACHING. THIS DOESN'T PRODUCE GOOD ENGNIEERS, IT ONLY BREEDS STUDENTS WHO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET AROUND VERY LOUSY TEAHCERS. BUT AFTER A TEACHER LIKE SEIFODDINI ARE WE GOOD ENGINEERS OR JUST GOOD AT GETTING PAST OBSTACLES?

Seifoddini has got to be the worst professor I've had at Poly so far. Take him, and be prepared to home school yourself. He will not teach you anything. Ten minutes into his lectures, most of the class is not paying attention anymore. He rarely does example problems. Homework is "sometimes" collected, and never quite clear about when it is actually due. Good part is that you have until 5pm to turn it in (if it is due). One midterm, worth a big chunck of your grade. Midterm was cake compared to the final. But don't worry too much, because somehow I managed to get a C and bombed the final. So bring something to do for lecture, like homework, or else the two hours seem like an eternity. Try to avoid taking Seif if you actually want to learn about OR.

Worst teacher that I have ever had at Cal Poly. He is an embarrassment to the IME department. He doesn't know how to present the material. The final is worth 40% and is impossiable. He assigns homework and doesn't collect it and then decides all of it is due right then. His formulas are different notation than the book, so class notes and book notes don't coincide. In addition, the problems in the book are much different than the problems he presents in class and on the tests.

Just flat out awful pretty much sums up Seifodini. He does not teach you a darned thing and pretty much you have to do most of the learning on your own. Even if he makes a pretty obvious mistake in his lectures which he frequently does, he will single you out and yell for trying to correct him. He pretty much will leave you defend on your own since he just refuses to answer any questions you might have. Thanks to his inept ability to teach, most of the class flunked his nearly impossible final. I do not understand why he and not Freed is teaching this class. By all means try to avoid this guy like a plague and take someone else if you can. From what I heard, the he is wearing out his welcome with the IME dept and could be sent packing soon.

Dr. Seifoddini is one of the worst lecturers I have had. He cannot explain the subject well and is very boring. The book for the class is not good either. He assigns a lot of homework problems, although he does not collect all of them. The tests were fair. The main complaint is the lectures: it's like doing penance.

This is one of those teachers who can't convey the material that he is supposed to be teaching to his students. It is almost impossible to take good notes in his class because he uses transparencies and doesn't allow you enough time to copy them down. He wasn't always clear on what he wanted for homework, and the homework that he assigned wasn't a good representation of the material that was on the test. The basic ideas were the same, but the difficulty level of the tests were much greater than the difficulty of the homework. I do have to say that he tried his best to help you understand things when you went to his office hours though. But if you have the option, take someone else.

This has been one of the most miserable experiences I've had at Cal Poly. In Seifodinni's defense, IME 314 happens to be a tremendous waste of time. It did not help the matter that the exams were not at all reflective of the homework assignments, and that Prof. Seifodinni was not even remotely approachable. His lecturing style was atrocious, and he did not allow time for material to sink in. In addition, he seemed to have a severe opposition to numerical examples which were at all understandable. Do not take Seifoddini. Also, I would try and avoid a course with Engineering Economics (Theusen and Fabryky) as a text...it is convoluded and impossible to follow. The book is stictly theoretical, and gives little if any numerical examples to follow.

Seifoddini is probably the nicest professor you will meet on campus. He smiles alot and really cares about what you have to say. Unfortunately, the accent and monotonous voice make staying awake in class virtually impossible. I think I stayed awake through 3 of his lectures this quarter. 2 were in the first week and the third was the last day of class. He is great in office hours. He will stay however long past the scheduled time is in order to make sure you understand what is going on. Again, unfortunately it is tough to clarify what you are asking, and what he is saying. He is very knowledgeable on the subject but has a rough time conveying the material. Take him only if you are self-taught and enjoy office hours.

Man, i don't know how i passed this class. I didn't do 1 homework, which is 10% of the grade. I don't even know what i got on my midterm, which is 40% of the grade. The final, which is 50% of the grade, I just started making up equations and putting in made up numbers. I didn't go to class the last 5 weeks because i was just going to take an F. I didn't learn one single thing from this guy. He's a nice guy, but wow, does not know how to teach anything for a lick. Well, that's what i noticed when i was there. My friend went to class everyday, turned in all the homework and only got a B. For the amount of work i did (about an hour of studying for the whole quarter) i'll take a C-

Absolutely terrible. If you are looking for a chance to get really annoyed during every class, this is it. This guy really sucks and should be avoided at all costs. Doesn't explain things well, doesn't answer questions directly, doesn't prepare you for the exams (though they aren't very difficult). Good luck.

the class is actually not particularly difficult, and can be completed easily with a brief look at the book and homework. the difficulty was in sitting through class, trying not to gnaw my own arm off to stop the pain. bring something else to do in class, and look over the material on your own - listening to lectures really only serve to create confusion.

Well... I've been here for 4 years now and never written anything for this site. Suffice it to say Ahmad is so bad, that I have finally gotten up the stamina to write to this site proclaiming his unparalleled terribleness. If you have any option in the matter whatsoever, I implore you to take a different professor for this class. If you end up taking Ahmad, be sure to buy the book, beacause ALL of your learning will take place from the text. The ONLY reason to go to class WHATSOEVER, is to find out when the homework is due, and to turn it in, of which there are ridiculous amounts to complete in a relatively short period of time. Let's just say I have more out-of-class work in this class than in senior design, structural design, solid waste management, and surveying COMBINED. I think of this man and I shudder.

I found this professor hard to understand. I didn't find the homework load to be that bad (and I hate homework), though I did turn in the portfolio late repeatedly. Perhaps I'm just an econ wiz, but I had no trouble and would (will) take him again. You won't learn much from him, but I can't imagine it will be that hard.

Seifoddini stinks. He is probably the worst teacher I\'ve had a Cal Poly. First of all, he is difficult to understand. Also, he doesn\'t present the material very well. He then criticizes you if you try to ask him a question. Currently, its week 5 of Winter quarter and nobody in the class knows whats going on. Seifoddini should retire. Overall, find another teacher for Engineering Econ.

This teacher is definitely the worst professor I have ever taken in my life. He can\'t teach, won\'t answer questions, and assigns way too much homework. For a chapter that doing 5 problems would give you a good grasp on the concepts, he assigns 25 problems. I am currently taking dynamics with this class and while its easy concepts he assigns so much homework that I spend as much time on his assignments as my dynamics class. Basically don\'t take this professor.

Without a doubt the WORST professor on the face of the Earth. I feel like a liar even assigning the title of professor to this assbag- hes more like a thief the way he wastes his students time. Seriously though, it\'s amazing that he even graduated kindergarten let alone a PHD program. Prime example of the Seifs greatness: Our first test was multiple choice with only half of questions actually having choices. Some problems were two parts with 2 sets of MC answers. Tell me, how the hell are you supposed to fill out the scantron? Literally every single problem had an error of some sort. I thought for sure someone in the class was going to call him over only to paper cut him to death with their scantron. Avoid at all costs.

Seifoddini. Don't get me started. I swear he learned how to lecture at Guantanamo bay itself, torturing terrorists with painful, heart stopping, bone breaking lectures. I feared every Tuesday and Thursday morning more than I feared death. Countless nights I woke in a sweat screaming, imagining Seifoddini at the foot of my bed. Hide your kids hide your wife, this guy should locked in an insane asylum. This asshole invented cancer, gave Hitler tips, and single handedly kills 8 million African children a year. Test were written in morse code, and I swear he spoke in Mandarin. Albert Einstein, Sherlock Holmes, and Stephen Hawking couldn't solve one problem in 3 years time. This class made me cry. No not muffled my dog is going to be put down tears, but full on 4 year old little boy I-broke-my-arm Niagara falls tears. By week 7 I became an alcoholic, my family disowned me, and I woke up in prison. 5 years later I am still in relapse, get yourself out while you can.

Okay kids, remember one thing: You're not in high school anymore. The folks at the front of the room are not "teachers" - they are *not* there to teach you. They are professors and are there to guide and evaluate your ability to learn the course material. Yes, Seiffodinni sucks at presenting material. But you're at a university now, and you are responsible for learning the material. I've learned more in his classes than from others in the IME department. If you want to be a puss and depend on others to "teach" you (like what you did in 1st grade), join the IT department and don't call yourself an engineering student.

Why have a guy teach a programming class that is unable to use or teach the program? And by unable to use the program i literally mean he would assign us problems but be unable to do them himself. I went into his office hours for help on the program and he breaks out a pen and paper and starts writing down Sigmas and doing it by hand. Needless to say it was not helpful. Neither was the ridiculous amount of busy work HW we had to do for the portfolio. Dont take 407 if you have the choice and DO NOT take Seifoddini. This guy is what retirement was designed for...

He's the reason why so many students give up in their early years of college, at least in the IME dept. he doesn't know how to explain the material and is very oblivious to the students needs. The reason why I was able to get a decent grade in the class was because I never went to lecture, and taught myself the material. Every time I would go to class he would just make the material more confusing and complecated than it really was. I WISH THE IME DEPT WOULD GET RID OF HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Seifoddini is a teacher that cares alot about his students. This was not as hard of a course as every makes it sounds, just everyone was so inconsiderate during his lectures that they had no idea what was going on. I felt like I was in high school all over again. The students in the IME department need to start showing a little respect to the faculty. Due to the students we had to always go back and learn stuff from the first week of class. They blame the teacher, I say, everyone should just put in a little more effort. Dr Seifoddini does have trouble conveying the material clearly, but with a little time in office hours, or even a quick question during our hourly break, everything can become very clear. There is no way to avoid this teacher in the IME department, so do the work, pay attention, and everything will be fine.

"If you know what I am talking about, you know what I mean" is one of his more infamous quotes. Most people do not khow what he is talking about so guess what comes next. His random behaviors with scheduling and collecting are horrible and to top it off he can choose to add to the burden by making group summaries due at least once a week. If you get this teacher remember to take vasoline with you to class.
