CHEM 124

Her tests were a little difficult especially if you didn't pay attention in class very well. She explains whats on the test throughly throughout her lecture. The labs were fun and she explained herself with much enthusiasm. She made chemistry as fun as it could be. I would recommend her to any student taking 124, just be prepared to study for her midterms.

She is a very good teacher that spends a lot of time lecturing about the material. She gives example problems in her lecture which are similar to the test questions. Her tests are only a portion of your grade, and it is still possible to receive a B even if you do poorly on the tests. A lot of in class exercises allow forgiviness on a bad exam. She has extra credit assignments throughtout the year that also help raise your grade. Overall her class requires work, but she is a very good proffessor.

Great professor, she explained things as clearly as possible. She had study sessions before midterms on the weekend where she would answer any questions and give hints as to what would and would not be on the test. Her tests are not easy if you do not pay attention in class, but they are graded fairly and partial credit is given gratuitously. Overall excellent professor.

Dr. Scholefield is an excellent professor. She is passionate about the materials and her teaching. She rambles on (skipping from point A to B all through lectures)even though half of the class is sleeping. It's kind of funny and entertaining. She is helpful and eager to explain difficult principles. I recommend her to anyone. There is a lot of work and studying, but if you are willing to put in the required effort, you will recieve the grade you deserve. She is extremely knowledgable and is always willing to stay late in office hours or after class(if she can) when you need help. SHE IS GREAT!!! I learned a lot of chemistry. It was fun learning because you feel you are not pressured to know everything all at once. She reviews the materials and is very clear in her lectures. ****

Dr. Scholefield ranks up there with some of the best teachers that I have ever had. Chemistry is not an easy subject to teach and she does a really great job. Although the lectures get a little boring, Dr Scholefield is still running around the classroom trying to keep us entertained and awake. This class was taught in the Chemistry studio, which holds about 60 people who all sit in front of computer monitors. The notes during the lectures show up on the monitor and lab data, such as temperature goes directly into the computer where we analyze and graph it. All the labs and directions for the class are on a website which we check regularly. I went into this chemistry class very worried about how I would do because of not learning much in high school Chemistry. I worked very hard and could always get extra help if I needed it during office hours. I put a lot into this class and learned more about Chemistry than I ever thought I would. I ended up getting an A on the very hard final and an A in the class and was pleased that all of that work paid off.

Dr. Scholefield is great. She is enthusiastic about the material and presents it clearly. She will take extra time in class if people are having trouble. During labs she will play music (from her own collection and some CDs that students bring in). She is very helpful during office hours and holds review sessions before tests.

After all of the things I've heard about the chem profs here at Poly, I must say she must be a shining star in the night sky. Dr. Scholefield seems to be extremely dedicated to her teaching and to her students; her office is practically always open (she stays until 10 or 11 at night EVERY DAY) and is more than willing to go the extra mile to ensure that her students understand the material being presented. Her tests are EXTREMELY challenging; she takes the lecture material to the next level by forcing us to think in ways that we weren't taught (which can be good and bad). In lecture, lab or office hours you can say the stupidest things or make a calculuation that is completely wrong and she will never belittle you or say "How STUPID"; rather, she will correct the problem by explain where you made the mistake and how to avoid making it again. Highly recommended.

Ms. Scholefield was an excellent teacher and I would recommend her to anyone. She was willing to put any amount of time and effort to help you with the class. Her tests were hard but her lectures adaquently prepared you for them, but you do need to study your notes and do all the worksheets and suggested problems. Overall I thought she did a great job and I feel confident in chemistry after taking her class.
