Alan was awesome. His class was completely laid back, and lacked a lot of structure, but we still managed to squeeze in four speeches and a practice one, and learned a lot of material. The overall atmosphere in the class was always very relaxed, and Alan always made students feel comfortable. If you want a funny, super chill teacher, take Alan.

He doesn't take attendance during speeches, but it will help you very much if you go. Remember to anunciate.

Dr. Razee is one of the best professors I've had at Poly. I've taken him for SPC 125 and 102. His lectures are clear and concise. I always understood the material and what he wanted from us on tests, speeches or assignments. He's super helpful and always ready to answer questions or discuss concerns. I didn't notice a problem with late grading, like others have complained about, and I thought his corny jokes made the classes fun :)

Dr. Razee is awesome. First off, if you are semi-comfortable giving speeches, then you will get an A in the class. He lectures a lot using overheads...but you don't really have to copy anything down cause there are no quizes and the material never pops up anywhere else. Also, he grades very fairly and sometimes cancels class! It is definitely the easiest speech 101/102 class I have heard of.

I DREAD giving speeches. With that out of the way, Dr. Razee is simply awesome. He knew what he was talking about and incorporated it smoothly into his own lectures. It was amazing to just sit back and listen to him; not once did you hear him say an unintentional

Alan isn't the best teacher, but he's not too bad. He's pretty good at explaining what he expects and how to succeed. This class was pretty easy: just go to class, listen to him lecture (pretty boring sometimes), and give four speeches and a debate.

This guy is great. I don't know about everyone, but most times when I get a profesor, I don't expect someone who is your everyday, Jo-Smo kinda guy. Well, Razee is exactly that. He tries to add some life to the class (125 Critical Thinking isn't the most invigorating subject) with jokes, most corny, but he always tried to get laughs. As far as his teaching he was very organized with his lectures as he did them on the overhead projector, and he tried to get the class involved as much as possible. What amazed me was by week 3 he had pretty much everyone's name memorized. His grading is fair, his HW boosts the grade, because HW counts 20 percent, class is some work and reading buy highly reccomended.

Razee was a very good teacher. He took material that was not so interesting and made it interesting. He was always in high spirits and he put a lot of feeling into his work. I would recommend taking him for any Speech class. His grading system was very fair. He always told corny jokes (that i at least thought were funny!) to liven up the class.

Razee definitely includes personality and feeling to his lecture. He is always smiling and joking with his class, which makes things feel comfortable. He was able to convey the material without having to follow a strict outline every single day. He encouraged class participation. Grading was done very fairly and quizzes/tests were quite easy. I enjoyed his class and I know I will try to take him for any future SPC classes.

Razee is a good teacher. This subject was just super boring. It was a pretty easy class. Just hella boring.

This professor absolutely stunk it up. The only thing going for the class was the fact that he cancelled class multiple times during the quarter so he could grade our papers and papers. He was extremely lazy and took over 2 weeks to return one page quizzes. The material to the class was boring, but his jokes were even worse. "You blow your nose with an issue." Try dealing with corny wise cracks like this for a quarter and you'll understand why not to take him. Oh yeah, he also points out that all the assignments are on his web page which is crap. The last time he updated it was over a year ago. My class never even got back two of our written papers for his class. Take Nolan like everyone else says. Don't take Razee!

Possibly the worst professor i've had at poly so far. He was absent for unknown reasons 4 times, took at least two weeks to return ANYTHING, failed to return all of my emails and didn't teach me a thing the whole quarter . . . and yes his jokes suck. We didn't accomplish several of his objectives due to his complete lack of effort. To his credit the class itself is a joke, anyone who's made it to college has been writing argument papers for years. If you have to take this class, at least take it from someone who's interesting and who shows up consistantly.

Everyone who gave Razee a bad review either doesnt have a sense of humor, or should remove the stick from their ass. Yes, he tells corny jokes, but he knows that and even points out their stupidity. His grading is fair, he teaches well, and I would recommend him for this class. As for taking lots of time to return papers, he must have read the above reviews because all quarter he has been prompt with return. Take Razee, you wont regret it.

Easy A... take this class!!

scom 126 is a very matter of fact class. its pretty much common sense rewritten in professor speak. this class was great because there were no lengthy papers, no major tests, and we got out early on a regular basis. the grading consists of 5 quizzes which are simple, 2 short research assignments (less than a page each), and a congress exercise, in which you have to talk for a total of 4 minutes. simple huh? i would highly recommend this class for those of use who don't like the english and are screaming to get the G.E. area A done. this is a painless class to do just that. as for prof. razee, he was really good. he has a very energetic approach and makes the class fairly interesting. he is also very willing to take time out and explain concepts clearly and thoroughly.

I am outraged that the Speech Communications department allows this guy to call himself a Cal Poly professor! He did not show up to class at all almost half the time! I was sooooo excited to take argument and advocacy because I thought we'd get to have lots of interesting debates. Well, I really should have checked polyratings! The one debate he did plan had to be canceled because he ran out of lecture time due to the fact that he often didn't come to class. And he'd never even post a note. I lived on campus, but I can only imagine how outraged the upperclassmen were every week to get all ready for class, drive over, find parking, walk up to the fourth floor of Fisher Science, and then wait for 20 minutes to find out that this looser wasn't going to show up and we should all leave! It's absolutely inexcusable that Cal Poly continues to give him our money!

This teacher has to be the worst teacher in all of Cal Poly. He never went to class, made ridiculos assignments, and then came up with grades off the top of his head for each student. I learned absolutely nothing and had to go to class everyday to find out it was cancelled. On the last day, he brought evaluations, but then forgot to give them out. Surprise, surprise. This guy is awful.

This class is not as easy as everyone says it is. The tests are pretty hard, and everytime I thought I did really good on one of them, I bombed it. So, if you think this class is a cake walk, think again.

Outstanding prof. His TEST ARE HARD, but if you pay attention in class and visit him during office hours a couple of times, you'll do fine. Drops lowest test and quiz scores. There is homework. Unserstands student's needs very well. Get to know him, after doing REALLY bad in his final, but very good during the quarter, he gave me a really good grade.

Overall, I thought Prof. Razee was a very nice person. He is easy to talk to and has a good sense of humor. However, I have some constructive critism regarding his teaching sytle. He processed grades very slowly. Feedback from speeches was often not returned until after the next speech; therefore, we were never given the opportunity to use the criticism to improve on future speeches. He never made it clear exactly what he was looking for in a speech. Actually, there was probably a total of three full days of instruction, the rest was simply spent listening to speeches. He is a very hard grader and expects a lot from first time public speakers.

If you're looking for the world's most hopeless comic, you've found him: Dr. Alan Razee. His jokes are corny enough to fill a granary, to the point that you might actually laugh at them. Aside from that, he has to be the nicest teacher I've met. He's always good-natured, doesn't mind you calling him by his first name, and doesn't forget names. Certainly better than I can say for myself. Aside from that, he's a bit arthritic on the grading, so you'll probably have to ask him if you want to know your current grade in the class. There's not much instruction to be had in the course, but he does a good job of it. He's a tough grader, but only if you're trying to get into the A-range. I know that, personally, I picked up a good chunk of 'unconscious competence' while in his class. If anything, you'll at least learn what that means.

Razee is tight! He cracks some corny ass jokes, but he's cool and friendly. His lectures are easy to follow, and his explanations are precise. He's awesome at identifying weak points in an argument or presentation. Most of our class was spent listening to presentations and peer reviews, unfortunately - only a portion of the quarter was lecture. I've taken some shitty ass professors recently - but profs like Razee remind me that there *are* good professors here.
