Really guys? "sick, awesome, cool dude, funny, hecka decka nor cal? are these really words to discribe a finance teacher. No they are not and especially not this one. If you are a child who is awestruck at mild intermitant profanity take this course, i am sure you will giggle to the max. with class average abassmally low though, I would not be quick to applaud being "streatched like a band", "going 110%", "being put to the test" or whatever other sport analogy you as a finance student have not been exposed to in life. Curves make sure the class passes and this should not be taken as a sign of a fantastic task master. Tell you what, if you are a decent magic excel user take this class the curve and the homework will help you the most, other wise bury your head in sand and latch on to a different teacher for this cource. Polite man though, and he does dispense a village elder like arua around him making sure to physically hurt his students.

Thank you Dr Ramexani for coercing me to sign up for a course that is not what you told me it would be. Why do you continue to mislead the Finance students so much? Y went to Dr Carr and he explained that I would have to pay money to finish the course? I just finished paying money to my Accouning professor and now learned that he may be cheating me and the other students. You clearly do not have the students in best thought

The class is very difficult. He didn't make you turn in any homework which was awesome. But 10% of your grade depended on your attendance. You couldn't miss one day of class. There were 3 tests that were 30% a piece. His jokes were horrible. He cussed A LOT for no reason. He seemed to be very unorganized all the time. He would teach you one thing in class and test you on a completely different problem on the tests. Maybe he's better in the upper division courses but for 342 if you take him you better plan on having no life for that quarter. Seriously, DONT TAKE HIM!!!

Ramezani was funny and entertaining, however not a good teacher. He changed chapters to be covered, midterm dates and weight of the exams continuously. I had a good knowledge of time value of money and how to use a financial calculator before I started this class, and this is what made it possible for me to get an A. His lectures were fairly useless and I really had to figure out the course by myself. His office hours were also useless, as he was always late and would see you at most for just 10 minutes. What is worst is that his exams were just about impossible, with some stuff we had not done before. Each midterm was split in half: 50% consisting of multiple choice, 50% consisting of 2 problems. In one midterm, the class average (not the lowest grade) was a 26. Three class sections before the final he decided to "cover" 3 chapters and to have the final be worth 50% of your grade. We were able to make him change his mind, but I received a good grade because of my own personal knowledge and because I worked really hard. I really do not recommend him for BUS 342

Taking this class online was a poor decision. Taking this class with Ramezani was an even worse decision. He was terrible. The average on the first test was a 52%... I didn't get that. I had the highest participation all throughout the quarter, and yet somehow I got a 32% for participation. I have no idea how that was calculated; he completely made it up. He posted lectures online, but he never gave us answers for anything. I am a good student. I do my homework. I took the quizzes. I watched the lectures. Then I failed the test. Then he came at us and tried to say we needed to work harder. I was already working my butt off. That class was completely unrealistic. He might be the worst professor I've ever had- definitely top three. Do NOT take him.

Ramezani genuinely cares about his students. Even if you don't take a class with him, go to his office hours and get advice about resumes, careers, internships, etc.

Ramezani is a great teacher. He teaches concepts as difficult as Gorman, but does it in a much more easy going, and sometimes more effective, way. In his 431 and 442 classes you will learn a hell of a lot more than anywhere else, and it will be useful information to know. If you are a finance major, you will be ahead of the game if you take him, just be prepared to work hard, and have your brain stretched. If your a marketing or management major, and are just looking to get an A or a B and continue on, take an easier professor because average test and homework grades are about 60% and are more often lower than not.

Cyrus is a great professor that makes you think about the topics and really cares about the students. His tests are challenging but you really feel like you learn something. Also, his homeworks take a considerable amount of time. His lectures are entertaining, as entertaining as you can get teaching investment topics. He is also always available to meet with students.

Ramezani will sometimes drive you crazy but is one of the most helpful professors around. He will answer e-mails almost immediately and is always available to help. His test start out someone clear and straightforward but get pretty tough. You really need to review your lecture notes and read the book to make it through the class. The homework he assigns is VERY tough but you will learn so much that it is very worth the 25-35 hrs you will spend working on it. Definitly a class where you wonder why you ever took it but now that its over I am relived but glad because I learned a great deal.

This was the hardest class ever!!!! No kidding. Ramazini will work your ass off in this class. Tests are hard. I'd recommend studying vocab a lot because they are half the test. Then go for partial credit on the problems. Try to complete the Homework before the test because it will help you a lot. There are two homwork sets and they will take a lot of time. You will need to work with a couple of partners to complete it. Ramazini will find a tutor for the class to help students with homework. I would highly recommend you work on the homework in the computer lab during the tutor's hours so he can help you. Homework is 40% of the grade so spend the time on them. Ramazini is a good guy and you'll get a lot out of this class if you work hard but to tell you the truth I hated him so much last quarter. Now that i'm done though I like him and am glad I took his class. PS. Did I mention how hard this class was?

Ramezani is a great teacher. Yeah the class is super hard, but if you put in a little extra time you will do fine. I mean, im pretty much an idiot and im still getting an A. All in all, take ramezani, he knows his stuff and he will help you anytime you need it.

Dr. Ramezani is by far the best professor finance professor I have had at Cal Poly. He is excited about finance and is able to pass that along to his students. He makes himself very available, grades fairly and understands his students. Unlike a lot of professors he teaches because he wants to, and he enjoys working with students. Bus 431 is a difficult class and you will have to spend a tremendous amount of time studying and working on the two homework sets he assigns. Ramezani is an awesome teacher, if you have the chance to take him and you are serious about finance, takes this class!

Ramazani is seriously the man! you learn so much from him, and he is an great teacher! it would be hard not to pay attention, because cyrus is always making jokes and entertaining the class. You can tell he loves his job, becasue he you will never see him without his huge simle across his face, in class or on campus. and he really does learn everybodys name in class, even if you dont say a word the whole quarter! i strongly suggest you go to his office hours, he is always more than willing to give you extra help, and he explains things very well. Take cyrus if you want to learn, it'll be hard, but he's worth it!

I really enjoyed Ramezani's class. He makes kind of lame jokes and swears a little, but you get used to it. He gives you a lot of information to learn but is very fair and has a huge curve in his grading scale. It's a lot of work, but it's not busy work.

Class consists of 2 homework assignments, 2 midterms and a final. Ramezani gives the first midterm in the third class meeting. Tests consist of 5 Definitions and 5 problems (the problems are not like the ones he assigns for homework). If you ask him a question he will not give an answer that is straight forward, he will beat around the bush and turn the question right back at you. His homeworks are very hard, when you ask for guidance he will distract you with stupid jokes...he was never helpful to me. For his class don't rely on the book because he goes by his lecture notes which differ from the text.

BUS 439 with Ramezani is a hard class. Involves a lot of work for the two homework sets he gives you (40% of your final grade). But on the plus side if you do well on these homeworks, the two tests he has are really easy. Ramezani is also a great lecturer and paying attention in class and going every single time is critical. Most of the stuff on homeworks and tests is covered in lecture and he is always willing to help you with problems in his office hours. The guy has a lot of real world experience and has a lot to offer. On the minus side though, he does not explain how to do problems on spreadsheets much (Make good use of the tutors he has for the course for this). Overall, great class. You learn a ton and is well worth the effort!

Ramazani is sick. He really cares about his students doing well and makes jokes during class. Some may say he is not that funny, those are the wanna be cool fag students. He makes dumb jokes to lighten up the mood considering some of the material gets a little dry at times and keeps people enjoying the time spent there. He's a great guy and I would highly recommend him. By the way, it's no walk in the park. Forty percent of your grade are two big ass homework assignments that take a LOT of time but you learn a lot of good stuff.

Unfortunately, taking this class hurt my opinion of Ramezani. He is a very friendly, affable person, and maybe he was just overwhelmed with his new position as department chair for finance, but I don't feel he showed much sympathy, nor gave much help, when I was having difficulties. Also I don't think he gave final grades fairly and it was very difficult to talk to him about it. The homeworks were intense and I, along with many others, were mystified as to what the correct answers should be, and how expects us to know how to do the problems, since he didn't really teach it in class. In fact, I was confused on a portion of the first homework, but it wasn't until we had turned that homework in that he finally gave the lecture on the material. So he didn't teach material relevant to the homework until after it was due. Doesn't seem logical to me. I'm not sure if there are any real alternative teachers to take this class with, wouldn't suggest Andre or Weatherford, but I feel that there were unrealistic expectations for the material and that Ramezani didn't accurately show his grading scheme. Maybe between his 4 kids and being department chair he just didn't have the time to be the teacher he used to be.

Cyrus is a great finance professor. He will make you work incredibly hard, but as a result you will learn a ton and be way ahead of students in the other finance classes. He is much like Gorman in this regard, minus the head stuck up his ass.

Dr. Ramezani's effervescent personality and tremendous knowledge base in the subject of derivatives really facilitate the learning of these complex financial instruments. He draws upon a large reservoir of industry and teaching experience through his journeys as a overseas proprietary derivatives trader and having been a professor at one of the most prestigious graduate business schools in the US

Ramezani is one of the best teachers I have had at Cal Poly. He explains everything very clearly and is straightforward about tests and homework, which are very challenging. Each of the two homework assignments will take a very long time, start weeks early and do the problems as he teaches you the subjects they are on. It helps to work with others and spend some time in his office. He is a great guy, ya he's got bad jokes but they usually get a laugh... Overall he really does care about his students and you will learn a lot in any of his classes as you work your butt off. I really suggest taking him for any courses you can, especially if you want to learn finance.

Took him for senior project which was just getting Bloomberg Certified which is pretty easy. If you're lazy or didn't figure out you COULDN'T take the senior portfolio because you had to do it for a whole frekain year and he didn't let you know ahead of time (like me) take this class. It's a breeze and you just go into the terminal on your own time to watch the videos and take the tests. Then you have a simple overview "final" which will boost your grade to an A

one of the very few that knows what he's doing around here and more importantly, one of the very few to care about his student's learning. he genuinely tries to make it a good learning environment (and I've taken multiple subject matters with him including my senior project). take him if you want to LEARN about FINANCE!!!!!
