she talks like a lady on NPR--totally drones on. HATES to be wrong and figures that unless you stay after class and ask for help, it's all your fault if you don't understand the material. doesn't seem to understand that if the highest grade in the class on a quiz is a B-, then it's too hard of a quiz. loves biology, but doesn't know how to interact with students in order to get them interested too.

DO NOT TAKE PERRYMAN! I was in her lab for a total of 2 weeks and by some fluke accident got a sub the 2nd week and through a miracle of God was able to transfer into the sub's lab class. Perryman talks down to you as if you were in 1st grade but doesn't explain a single thing. She sits at the front of the room for the entire time (pretending like she's doing something productive) and doesn't clearly answer any of your questions. I asked her the same question three times in one class and still never got a clear answer! She some how manages to dodge the point. My friends that weren't as lucky as I was and got stuck with her for the entire quarter say that she still sucks and has never gotten better. On my first lab midterm (with the other teacher) I got an A- and my friend in her lab got a C. What does that tell you?

Worst teacher I've ever had. She cannot explain a single thing to save her life. DO NOT TAKE HER AND STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM HER AS POSSIBLE

This lady is the worst excuse for a professor I have ever encountered. She is incompetent and is totally removed from her job. She cannot explain anything, and answers questions with golden nuggets of wisdom like

I never comment on teachers, but I thought that Perryman was by far the WORST teacher I have ever had. She doesn't know anything, she is rude, incompetent, and lazy. If you ask her a question she ignores you and makes you feel like you are the dumbest person in the world for not knowing it, when really she is the one who is clueless. Dont let her decieve you, she seems nice but really she is evil. She made someone in the class cry for one mistake. DONT TAKE THIS EVIL LADY!

perryman-snow is the WORST person and teacher. She may seem nice but, sooner or later you will learn that she is atually very rude. Dont bother asking a question because she will make you feel stupid. She talks down to her students and is EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL AND UNPROFESSIONAL.

Ok, while all the other Bio115 lab professors gave outlines or hints or even actually taught something, Dr. Perryman did nothing. The only thing she tells you is to study the bold words. Yeah, that's fine, except that there's so freaking many. She's not good at answering questions, and going into the test, you have no idea what to focus on. The only thing she does in class is show some slides, and she skips through half of them. It's like she never prepares for class. I think she's been teaching way too long. My advice: get a grad student. Perryman is not a good choice whatsoever.

Doctor Perryman was one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is confusing in her lectures and unwilling and unable to clarify any questions the students might have. She shows little interest in the class or material and is misleading about tests. For example, on one particular test she specifically told us not to study meiosis, because it was not going to be on the exam. There ended up being 2 questions on meiosis on the exam, which is not a huge deal, but she had just made a point to tell us that is wasnt going to be on the test. My advice would be to swith ot of this class and get another teacher. No one deserves to have to take this class.

Perryman may be a very smart woman, but she is terrible at relaying information to her students. Other lab teachers gave hand outs and lectured while she basically told us which lab we were doing and then told us to go look at models for three hours. Make sure you never disagree with her, even when she is wrong, she will get very irrational and say something like, "well I was trying to help you but I guess you don't want my help" and turn around and walk away. She constantly talked to our class as if we were ten and treated us like we were younger. I'm not sure if she just didn't like teaching that class or she hates people, but I have NEVER had a more condescending and rude teacher who is so unwilling to help her students. She taught me absolutely nothing and her only advice was "study the bold print words". If I didn't have two years of biology before taking this class I definitely would have failed it. She is by far THE WORST and most irrational teacher I have ever had. Please try and switch to a different teacher if you get her. No one deserves to be talked down to and treated like and imbecile.

Dr. Perryman is smart, but she does not know how to present the material to her students. She talks to you like you are in kindergarden yet expects college level work out of you. Try to get another professor for her lab.

All the above is true. Shes a nice woman but just can't get the information across to the students. Shes an old grandmothery looking lady I kept expecting her to walk in with a tray of cookies not try and teach bio lab.

Let's see, where to start? 1. Dr. (she doesn't deserve that title) Perryman is incompetent and unhelpful. She should have retired years ago. Goodness only knows why she's still a professor at a school like Cal Poly. 2. Do not, under any circumstances, take this old hag for any class whatsoever. She is a horrible teacher, mentor and role model. I tried to go into her office hours for help on an in-class essay prompt, and she had stepped out. I spent 20 minutes tracking her down, and then she told me that she couldn't help me and that I should go to my lecture teacher. Again, do not take her. 3. Horror story of the quarter: We were supposed to be examining fruit flies, but our group's were dead. When we showed Perryman, she just looked at us and said, "Well I guess that's not going to work out for you then, is it?".....and walked away! So much for paying for an "education." 4. By far, the worst teacher I have ever had, from Pre-school through the present. Do not take her. You will regret it! 5. The class couldn't figure out how to work an equation, and neither could she. She just looked at the problem for about 2 minutes, excused herself, walked next door to DeJong's class, and then returned 5 minutes later, magically knowing how to work the equation. Completely incompetent. 6. I hear Dr. Black curves all the lab midterm grades from the kids in her class, they do so bad. Even then, it's still not enough to do well in the class. For our first midterm, the highest score was an 87%, and she never curves them. DeJong may be boring, but his kids do well on the test because he actually spends time teaching and outlining what will be covered on each midterm. Do anything you can to get out of her class, change teachers or avoid her all together.

A good professor. The class is very intense and time demanding. Be prepared to have to learn at least 10-20 slides of tissue per session. Test are 30% pictoral recognition and identification, 30% microscope slides, and 30% mult choice from text (be sure to know your material well since these are the hardest ones). Grading scheme is fair and prof is very approachable.

I had SO much fun in this class, I thi8nk anyone would. There is a whole lot of information to be learned - but none of it is way too tough, so all you have to do is put in the time. You get your own set of 200 slides and everything, take this course if you can!

Granted, Zoo 422 was an awesome class where I learned a ton. The bummer was the tests weren't on what I learned. It was also up to me to learn the stuff, since she DID NOT TEACH! I barley got a B, and I'm a good student, if you value your GPA, or any of your free time, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! If you are forced to take it, prepare to learn EVERYTHING from the book/lab book.

Perryman is a nice person, very smart, and well edjucated, but she has great difficulty in teaching effiecently. She is ambigous about what she wants you to know and the text book she selected for this class requires a PH.D and a medical dictionary to understand. If you don't mind teaching youself its not a bad class. At least she is a fair grader. P.S.- The way she weighs value of her assignments makes no sense at all.
