I hated Chemistry before having Poncho. He teaches it with such enthusiam and love for the subject I had to smile sometimes. He really relates to the students and makes the class fun. He would play music while we worked on labs which helped the class alot. He still expects a lot from you. You have to work hard and study alot but he is in office hours to help you everyday. Go, it really helps alot. His tests are challenging, but fair. He doesn't collect homework, but you should still do it. You will have a quiz once a week and an exam once every three weeks. He is my favorite teacher so far. I could go on and on about how great he is. So if you have to take Chemistry try your hardest to get Poncho (Lester).

Dr. "Poncho" Meisenheimer is a great teacher. He cares about his students and is easy to approach and ask for help. He understands difficulties and actually tries to help out. This isn't too say he is incredibly easy, his tests are difficult and require you to have read the book and taken notes in lecture. Thankfully, he teaches with such energy that lecture is not bad. (He also loves blowing things up, such as balloons filled with hydrogen, gummi bears, plastic bottles, etc) I would recommend him if you are willing to work.

He is an awsome professor. He knows how to get the material across and the stuff actually makes sense when he teaches it. But the tests are hard. But nothing is new on the tests, it has all been covered before in the lectures or the labs.

this man was perhaps the greatest teacher that i have ever had. he was very helpful and always willing to meet out of class to assist with hw and tests. as an a student, i was very pleased to receive a b. i feel that i learned a lot and all the material was covered. definatly a teacher to get. "but what about the game?"

Poncho has been the best professor so far that I've had at Cal Poly. Not because he's a push over or an easy A, but because he's a great teacher that genuinely cares about his students. He holds such a passion in teaching chemistry that you can't help but pay attention during his lectures. In addition to that he can also portray the information in a way that the students can understand it. If a student doesn't understand, he will take the time after class to help them until they do. Don't take him lightly though. He expects a lot out of you and his tests prove it. They aren't too hard, they are actually quite fair, but he doesn't curve his tests at all. All in all, he is the best I've had so far.

heh.. I called him P dog all year.. He has one of the greatest attitudes when it comes to teaching. He expects a lot from the labs, but everything can be easily done with your partner. He's so relaxed and makes class fun. I would definitely take another one of his classes.

This guy is great! He is seriously the best teacher i have ever had. His quizes and tests are fairly challenging, but none of the questions are unexpected. His tests and quizes also come right from the lecture and notes, so be sure to study those. He teaches the material so well and his lectures are extremely organized. I never once had to go home and teach myself what was going on, as long as i payed atention in class. And thats not hard to do because he makes the lectures so easy to undertand and actually interesting. He also takes every oppurtunity he can to blow stuff up! He gives mininal handouts; they're just enough to help clarify your understanding, but enough to be an easy grade. His class is anything but boring, and he loves answering questions. On top of all of this he is a great person just to talk to. He knows chemistry inside and out and his outstanding inteligence is evident. Thanks for a great quarter Pancho!

Chem 124 was my most difficult course in my first quarter of my first year here at Poly. To top it off, my Chem background is not very strong. Okay, I'll admit it--I didn't like Chem. Until I took Chem 124 from Poncho Meisenheimer. Poncho is a total surfer dude...totally awesome. He's relaxed and easy to talk to during office hours. He also loves to blow up stuff during class (lots of hydrogen balloons, etc). He runs a tough Chem class (not a single student in my section got an A, but on the other hand the class average was very, very high), but he really tries to help each individual student. During quizzes he walks around looking at each student's paper to make sure he/she is solving the problems correctly. Beware--his final is very tough. Simply because he is a good professor doesn't mean you don't have to study. If you fail this class, it's your own fault! I would _highly_ recommend Poncho for Chem 124 & 125.

The first day he walks in with a ballon. Shortly after that Poncho (Don't call him Lester) blows it up. It's safe to say that I liked him from the start. Poncho is the man! And yes, I'm talking about him as a Chem teacher too. It's not just that he knows the material like the back of his hand, but he knows how to teach it at ane one persons level. He teaches at a fast pace, but never to fast that you wont understand. He will also take time out of the lecture to tell of personal stories. My personal favorite was when he told us about taking his kids out for Halloween and he had to help them eat all of their candy, "I mean, come on. They could get sick." He's a great guy. I have had one really good teacher every year that I have been in school. Poncho is taking up that spot for this year.

Professor Meisenheimer is a very good teacher. He really likes and understands Chemistry and is also excellent at teaching it. He does a lot of cool experiments and the labs are pretty fun. It is very important to do well on the labs. They are like free points and also help you on the tests and quizes because he expects you to be responsible for the material in the labs. There are three tests, six quizes, a diagnostics quiz, which is ridiculous because veryone fails it, and the final. I average a B on the quizes, a C- on the tests, and did the labs and was a ble to pull out a B. If possible I very very strongly recommend the SI class that can sometimes be taken. I swear I never read and went to every SI class and had a pretty good understtanding. Andrew is an awesome teacher. If you can, definately take Pancho.

He is a great teacher. He makes the material interesting and presents it very clearly. His tests are hard, and the material is hard, but he will answer any questions if you just talk to him after or before class.

Awesome teacher as well as a person. Lester rocks! He is a really good teacher that explains chemistry amazingly well. His grading is fair and the test are definately do-able. I didn't read a word out of the book and pulled of an A. Just pay attention in the lectures and you'll be fine, if the lectures don't make sence then resort to the book but most of the time it just confuses people and makes it more complictated than it needs to be. Take Lester for sure.

Poncho is a great chemistry teacher and loves what he does. The class was fun and even though it was really long, the hours went by faster in that class than any of my others. I love chemistry, but this class is very difficult. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking the SI course. I was lucky and my SI instructor was awesome and it helped so much I dont know how people get by without it. But Poncho is an awesome teacher too and explains stuff well and is always willing to help you. GREAT GUY!

Poncho is by far, hands-down, absolutely, positively THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!! He knows what he is talking about, and is excited about the material... this is contagious. He is a difficult grader, as a straight A student, I was praying for a C! He makes you prove what you know on the tests. He once said, "I write my tests so that most will get a C." He was not kidding! He is not the instructor to take if you are going to slack off or don't want to read and do homework. He is AWESOME but EXPECTS you to do your share of the work. If you have a problem, HE WILL HELP YOU. He breaks chemistry down to life examples that you can visually see (comparing cars to types of energy or waves to the pitch and loudness of a voice if he needs to...) He will bend over backwards if you need help and you go to his office hours, but again you have to be willing to put the work in and go see him to get the help you need. If you are willing to put the work in, you will come out of this class with an understanding of chemistry that you thought you could never have (I certainly did!). I hope that I can have him as an instructor again!

Estrada is a decent teacher but when this class is taught in a big lecture format it's just boring.. The textbook is boring as hell and you need to do the reading to do well. Class is pretty much just slides from the book. However, the material itself is interesting and the class isn't too hard. I'm sure as a smaller class Estrada would do a much better job.
