She is one of the few professors that actually knew most of the students names in her class, and actually made an effort to get to know her students. She is more than willing to help students who have problems. I believe she is better one on one in office hours or during labs than in her lectues. When you are one on one she will explain the material more in depth (and in a different way if necessary, unlike many professors) and then give you sample problems to work in front of her to help you with any problems. Her lectures are all written out so note taking is easy. Her tests were fair and straightforward. I would recommend taking her.

She's awesome! She lectures very well, easy to follow & understand, moderate tests. Take her! you'll thank me!! BTW, in the class of like 70 people, she actually knew everyone - and not just their name!

DR. K IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She presents material in a straightforward manner. I had the chance to take Poncho for 124, also a great teacher! Take either of them if you get a chance! Her grading policy is fair. Her tests are difficult and I got a D on both midterms, but she gives you the chance to make it up in labs, homework, take home quizes. She is AWESOME in office hours, but you have to make the effort to go to them. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I hope Cal Poly never looses her and I hope I get to take her for another class sometime!

Dr. K is a great teacher. She is really nice, helpful and instructional (in a goofy sort of way). The subject matter is difficult, but she has take home quizes and is nice in her grading. Sometimes she can get a little boring during the lectures--but hey that's chemistry. Overall she's awesome--and you should hear her sing.

Dr. Meisenheimer is so awesome. She is the nicest teacher you will ever meet and she makes sure that everyone understands the material and she will do anything to help you. She truly does know all her students names and makes an effort to get to know all of them. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! she is so helpful, and she will get to know you and like you. Overall a very easy class. Lectures are simple. The tests are easy if you put in any studying. No homework, (except for take home quizzes and homework that comes with the lab). And she does cool demos and blows stuff up in lecture. Such a nice caring lady, and a great teacher, take her. She will make chem so easy.

She is totally awesome. She's super nice and is good at making things clear when things get tough. We went at a pretty slow pace and didnt get to chapter 12 which was nice. Her tests were sometimes tricky, but not too bad. She definitely is worth taking. Awesome lady

I wanted to write a review on Dr. K because I ran into her today on campus. I took chem 127 with her 5 quarters ago, and she recognized me on campus today and remember my name. That is just an example of how amazing she is. She cares so much about her students and truly gets to know them. I only went to her office hours once or twice and she knew my name and really made an effort to help me. She is not only one of the greatest teachers out there, but she is also one of the nicest people I have ever met. Take her for chem!!! yes she is a semi-tough grader but it will be worth it.

I don't like chemistry, and Dr. K really got me into it. She's such a great teacher/lecturer. Her notes are very organized, and she explains everything that you need to know for the test. She is very down-to-earth. In lab, she plays good music and helps you out. Her tests and grading style are fair. She brought her twin boys into class a couple times, and they are the cutest things! I wish I had gotten her for my previous chemistry courses! I very highly recommend Dr. K!

Take her!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough! Having known that o chem is a daunting subject, she makes it seem, very less intimidating. 3 midterms,1 final but you can choose to not take one midterm and your grade on the final replaces it or you take all 3 midterms and the lowest midterm gets replaced by your grade on the final. Her midterms aren't super easy though, it can be quite a challenge sometimes. She explains with models which helps immensly because there's a lot of structures that appear in o chem that you can't just imagine in your head very easily. She's really enthusiastic and strives to learn everyone's name, very approachable, never intimidating.

Honestly Dr. Meisenheimer is one of the best professors I've ever had. She presents the topics clearly in lecture and is always very organized. She has a ton of supplementary material to practice with, and she is very approachable during office hours. You can tell she genuinely cares about all of her students. Chem 217 is very challenging course, but Dr. M gives you all the materials needed to succeed.

Simply put, Meisenheimer kicks ass. She is friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgable, and straightforward. Her tests are straight from lecture, but I would recommend doing the homework nonetheless. I enjoyed chemistry this year because of her.

Dr. K is absolutely wonderful! She is one of the best teachers I have had here at Poly. She made lab fun and laid back. Before each lab she goes over everything you need to know for that days lab, and then if you need help during the lab she is right there to help out and answer your questions. She always plays music during the lab, and she even encourages students to bring in some of their own music to play. The reason she is such a great teacher though is because she is always willing to help, no matter what. I had a different teacher for lecture who I thought was horrible and couldn't explain the material at all. So I would go to Dr. K's office hours and she would help me out and explain everything so well. That really showed me that she cared, she could have just said "Go get help from you lecture teacher" but rather she sat with me a helped me to understand, and that made all the difference. Take Dr. K if you get the chance! She actually made ochem fun. If given the chance I will DEFINATLY take Dr. K again in the future.

Dr. M was an awesome teacher. She's so enthusiastic and helpful. I loved having her for lab. You have to do a little bit of work to keep your lab notebook up to date and ready before class begins each day, but it makes the labs so much easier and it gives you easy points. Lab with Dr. M definately brought my overall grade up in O chem. Take her if you can.

Dr. Meisenheimer was an excellent professor. In lecture she went over the material slowly and even brought in models for everyone to see which was great for clarification on the topics. In lab she explained each of the procedures that we would be performing before she would let us start so that everyone knew what they were doing beforehand. If anyone had questions she was extremely approachable and allowed the students to think for themselves so they would learn the material better instead of just telling them the answers. O Chem is a rigorous course no matter what teacher you have, but Dr. M will ease you into the course and make it much, much less painful than other teachers, guaranteed.

Dr. Meisenheimer is by far one of the most amazing teachers I have ever encountered at Cal Poly. One of my sorority sisters recommended her for O Chem and I can honestly say I am so glad that I took her. She cares so much about her students and is such a fair teacher. I failed the first midterm and she asked me to come to her office hours. She talked to me for an hour and told me never to give up, and told me she would help me every step of the way in order to make sure I had a good understanding of O chem. She never grew tired of me (even though I attended every one of her office hours) and I managed to pull my grade up dramatically, even though I thought I did much worse in the class. If I hadn't taken her for O chem I probably would have failed it to be honest with you. TAKE HER! Se literally changed my life.

Dr. M is an amazing, amazing professor. She does everything she possibly can to make you succeed in the course: organized handouts, extremely clear lecture notes, explanations with models, tricky ways to remember many different aspects of the material and even songs! She provides you with everything to be successful and the rest is up to you! There is no way around making organic easy so studying is essential. There is one midterm and one final; be sure to be very prepared for both. If you do better on the final she will replace your midterm grade with your new one. There are quizzes nine out of ten weeks but she drops the lowest score. Lab makes up the rest of the points (Get Dr. M if you can). Stay on top of your work and use her in office hours! She's so helpful and approachable. Clearly I have nothing but good things to say about her... HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Dr. M is one of the best teachers at CP especially for chemistry. She is so enthusiastic and happy in lecture that her attitude makes you want to love chemistry too. She gave 1 midterm, 6 quizzes, and a final. You have to study for everything to do well. Her final was incredibly difficult but it was Organic chem so I can't blame her for that. I would recommend her but be ready to study alot.

Meisenheimer is the best chem teacher I have ever had. She explains the material very clearly and is always open to questions in lecture. She is very approachable and will gladly help you better understand the material. Also, she is super chill and actually plays lead guitar in her rock band. I highly recommend!

Best OChem professor. Great at presenting challenging material in a way that makes sense. She is thorough and very clear with what she expects students to learn. Her tests are extremely fair. Lab with her is great, she demonstrates all lab technique and explains all necessary techniques very well. Amazing in office hours too.

Dr. Meisenheimer was a chill person to talk to and such and nice but she was one truly rough grader. Most of these reviews just talk about her being cool, but she was a horribly tough task master. She tries to make you figure out a question, but if you can't than your grade will suffer even if you go to office hours. Most people in there got destroyed grade wise on the reports, so beware of her grading.

Dr. Meisenheimer is amazing in lab! Her pre-labs explain everything, and she'll help you with anything you have a problem with. She's super nice and honestly cares about all her students. Take lab with her if you get the chance.

Dr. M is among the best lecturers and lab instructors I've ever had the pleasure to meet; in fact, I've made it a point to take her for every lecture and lab in the Organic Chemistry series! Not only does she know her material to a "t", but she is always willing to work with you when you don't understand a concept - no matter how trivial. Her lecturing style is straightforward and structured, with copious references to the Wade's Organic Chemistry textbook accompanying the course, and she provides practice quizzes, problem sets, and past exams to all students on Polylearn that correspond very well to her tests. That said, this course is hard. There's no way around that, and Dr. M isn't going to let any student down easy, but she'll do everything in her power to make sure any student willing to put in the work comes out of her courses with a superb knowledge of organic chemistry. Outside of the classroom, she's also very personable and an all-around awesome woman (here the word awesome is used in its original sense as well as the more colloquial one).
