If this professor asks you to work for him for an internship DO NOT DO IT. He promised me a large sum of cash for an internship. After completing the internship (and not being paid) did he tell me that I was not getting the amount I wanted. I was promised good compensation for eight months following termination of the internship. Finally, after threating legal action I was offered a humiliating amount of money for my work. His justification was "I will help you out elsewhere" The time came for his help and his reply was "what do you want me to do about it?" This professor cannot be trusted and will take advantage of any and all students. Stay away from him.

Be carefull of this teacher. Dr. Mehdizadeh read directly out of the text book in his lectures, made no sense, and consistently put half of the class to sleep. He also must have given the grader the wrong answer key to the homework because we constantly were marked off for correct answers. The second test in the class included a problem that had no answer. My recomendation is to avoid this teacher like the plague!! I wish I would have known about this guy before I signed up for the class.

I could not beleve it. He put Wilsons' entire book on overheads. Then all he would do is highlight bold equations. He would reply to a question with "You know..." but it was apperent that he did not know. Office hour is worthless, and questions were answered with "You Know the solutions are out side.." For lab his incompetance was almost a plus, with a choice of him or Mary Cooper, take him. He is so lazy he gives out good grades. I once say two roomates totally copy eachother one had cooper the other Mehdizadeh. Medizahed gave a 20/20 cooper Handed down a 64%...

Most of the comments below actually belong under Medizade, Mason. This professor has been gone from poly for awhile now. Though I hear he was as about as shitty Mason Medizade. Something about the name perhaps?

The ME department did not coincidentally hire two professors with practically identical names and equally marginal teaching skills and then tenure both of them. The guy changed his name. I'm an ME alumnus who had Mehdizadeh for 236 in 2001 (and he was worthless). It's the same guy.

I had the second thermo class of the day. He would put the transparencys from the first class on the overhead, say three words about it, then go look out the window while we copied the notes. Some times he would comment on stuff going on out side. "Hey, looks like they're having fun out there, they must not be engineers." "Wow, and ambulance, just like rescure 911."

I totally disagree with the first three evaluators. First of all there is no ME 259 that I am aware of. Professor has high enerrgy level and did a very good job in Thermodynamics. He is an asset to Cal Poly and the ME department!

The professor uses overhead notes from 5 years ago (I checked with the notes of some graduates, just for laughs), that may not be so bad if the notes were typed, organized or even ledgible. Unfortuatly if there is a mistake on the overhead, he will cross it off and write it over. If there is a mistake on that correction, it will be crossed off and written over again. He did not prepare his students for the exams. There was a problem worth a third of our midterm grade that was not covered in homework, lecture, nor was there an example of how to solve the problem in the book, only a short paragraph. He states his lectures rather than explaining the material, for example," This is the formula for entropy. This is very important because you can find entropy with it. Now this is the formula for..." At the time, the class and I had no clue what entropy was. This instructor also does not give partial credit. He has told the class that because you are given a cheat sheet that your entire grade lies in the correct final answer.

For Thermodynamics, he was abysmal. He did a very poor job of explaining the material. He gives no partial credit. I failed every exam in his class, yet somehow came through with a "B" (meaning that the curve was bigger than Mt. Olympous). He was a very disappointing teacher for a very hard class.

I thought Meh was a great professor. He covered all the information we needed and provided examples. Grading was based off of daily HW, weekly quizzes, 2 midterms and a final. A lot of work in the class, but it seemed to be an appropriate amount. I ended up with a C+ when I was expecting at least a B; so his curve is not as strong as he makes it out to be. Hard grader, good professor.

The worst professor I have ever had, fittingly for the worst class I have ever had. All quarter he failed to explain anything. His class notes were a ridiculously jumbled garble on unintelligable information. He was not approachable in the slightest, and even refused to help me on several occasions in office hours. When I inquired about learning some of the theory behind the material, I was informed that only the equations are important. I am telling you, DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY.

Don't take him. He got around to making PDFs of his handwritten transparencies that total over 15MB. His accent is unfortunately too thick to be clear; it took a few weeks to realise that "Fehr's Law of Thermodynamics" was actually the "First Law of Thermodynamics." Homework is on tomorrow's lecture subject and the lectures are abstract in nature anyway. See http://www.meei.net/me302/ .

This guy takes lazy to a whole new level. Before I begin let me break it down: HW 10%, Quizzes:20%, Midterm 30% final 40%. First of all, during lectures this guy present slides that were created before the bible. The overhead slides that he uses are available on his website and barely legible. His quizzes are not that bad. They are very similair to the homework problems. His only midterm was tricky. Hence, many people failed the midterm. Final was comprehensive and included about 9 problems. Quizzes, Midterm and Final were open book. Do not expect to get very much help from him during office hours only if you want him to show you the solution to the problem and not explain how the answer was arrived. In other words, hes even worse in office hours. However, professor grades on a healthy curve. I expected to get a D- with his grading scale but ended up with a B. My suggestion is take this class with him only if you want to swing by with a minimal grasp of thermo. As for people who actually need this class(ie. M.E.'s) , I definitely recommend taking this course with another professor. Highly recommend Maddren.

i took this course over a year ago, but i just remembered him recently. i'm so damn pissed off that i wanted to let everyone know how much of a dipshit this guy is. dont even think of going to office hours unless you want to be told how stupid he thinks you are. i put in about 10 hours/week, i have never studied so hard for a fucking C-. FUCK YOU mehdiiza!!!!!!!! EAT SHIT! the only good thing about the class is the weekly quiz....it keeps you on your feet. that is all.

DO NOT take this asshole. Wait a quarter if thats what it takes. I went into his office hours and he told me to read the chapter 3 or 4 times and I would figure it out and not have to go to his office hours. Our class average was an F on the midterm and he blamed it on us. Then he promised an easy final because of the shitty class average. I studyed my ass off and he put shit on the final he said he wouldnt and things I had not seen in the book or in his class examples. I would pay good money to be able to fight this guy.

For some reason this guy has an alias on polyratings. Check out Medizade, Mason but dont expect anything different. he rating there was even lower that for Medizahdeh, Allmowhatever. Why did his first name change and his last name become phonectically correct? Who knows. However all I can say is the same crap youve heard before because I found out the hard way: DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. HE IS A TERRIBLE TEACHER. REPEAT: AVOID THIS PROFESSOR FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR ACADEMIC CAREER! Im not going to go on a rant on why because there are 50 or so others saying the same damned thing. I hope he is reading this because its the least I can do after he screwed up my GPA and wasted my time. Thanks a******!

Wow. This is probably the worst teacher I've had at Cal Poly yet (and that bar has been raised quite a few times). I honestyl thought I had an F in the class, being that I failed every test like the rest of the class. Miraculously though, this guy just gave Cs across the board (I think) to keep his job. Take Pascual if you can, he's awesome

This guy must be tenored! He just sat in front of the lab, at his desk reading the newspaper, and when asked to explain the lab set up, he would sigh, put the paper down, and act all "put out". Never have I seen a professor so uninterested in what he was supposed to be teaching. I hear he is much better for petroleum classes, but man, I can't believe I PAID for that! Other than insufficient instruction, he grades easy.(i dont think he read a single lab-just puts the "check" on the front)

He is very well prepared. We had a guest speaker from industry and it was evident that the professor knows more than the guy with 20 years of experience. I am sure one day he will be stolen from Cal Poly. Take him because you learn a lot.

HOly crap! This proffesor is so damn lazy! He ranks second in the LAZINESS award right under Kamalu. These two guys probably made a bet against each other on who can do the least amount of work and still get paid. Seriously, this guy walks into class and asks if he can borrow someone's book. Then he copies example problems straight out of the text book onto the blackboard?? Whats worse is that he stops half way through the problem and says, "Its in the book guys" No shit! We have the book right in front of us. For the review for the midterm or final, he again says. "Does anybody have the book". THen, he proceeds to read the subtitles from the chapters like thats going to help us? When someones asks a question he says, "That a good question, a good question... humm... does anybody have an answer to that"? Dont even think about asking help in office hours. He will point out that the solutions are posted outside. IF you ask a question on homework thats not posted, he will find the solution manual and give it to you. Simply, he doesnt teach he just reads shit off the book/slides to you as if you were illiterate. By the end of the quarter you will stop asking questions because its pointless. You would be better off not paying attention to his lecture and reading the book for that time. For the test, copy down all your homework problems onto your sheet because all he does is change one number in a problem. So basically, if its a support course dont take him if you want to learn but for tech electives courses, these will be the easiest upper division courses you will ever take at Poly.

Dr. Mehdizadeh was my graduate advisor. He got me funding and was available on short notice. He also helped me finding the job that I was looking for. He is very smart and knows what he is doing. He made my graduate studies possible. Take him for a thesis and enjoy.
