Dr. Yep was a great teacher! She had a few quizzes and her lab practicals were difficult, but fair. (I got high B's on both). She gives you all of the items you need for success and will help you out with any questions you have. With her as a teacher I was really forced to understand the material, and when it came to the Lab final I was able to do well because I felt prepared. Other students in other classes took the same Lab final and they thought it was "impossible", but that's because they didn't have a teacher like Dr. Yep to prepare them. You also get free points for just keeping good lab manners and for keeping up with your notebook. I recommend keeping up with your notebook because some students waited last minute and lost easy points because they didn't take the time to fill it out as we went. Overall, I recommend taking her as a teacher. I strongly dislike Microbiology, but I loved taking it with Dr. Yep!

I had Yep for Lab and Fidopiastes for Lecture. Lecture was a breeze. 50 MC questions for each of the two exams. 50 MC on the final, NONcumulative. The lecture itself is pretty basic as it is an intro course. Lab with Yep was frustrating. It's my first C in any class at Cal Poly (I got an A in lecture). Keep in mind I'm taking this as a third year. Yep is really nice and I see why she gets good reviews, but I wish I had a more realistic idea of what the exams would be like. I really don't know how people knew what to study as I always walked into the exams thinking, oh what a SURPRISE. I didn't take Fido for lab so I can't compare, but if I could go back I think he would've been the more clear professor. Just because a professor is nice, or a student got lucky with studying the right material is not evidence that you should sign up to take this professor. She's not horrible, but she isn't outstanding either.
