I took IME 144 with Kris in the spring quarter of my freshman year. IME 144 with Kris was such a great class and I had an amazing experience! This was Kris' first quarter teaching, replacing Rod Hoadley who retired just two weeks before classes started. Kris also took this class like twenty years ago when he was a student at Poly, so he's real experienced and helps out so much in this class. Kris has a proper job at a manufacturing company in Slo and only teaches this class in his spare time, so he's also real experienced in industry. Overall, Kris is an AMAZING professor. Take him if you can.

Kris was the best! He works full time in industry during the day and then teaches later in the day here, so sometimes he's kind of tired. He tries really hard to stay engaging and keep you actually machining instead of doing a bunch of busy work. He was really knowledgeable in 144 and was very good at explaining things in Solidworks. He's super chill. 10/10 would recommend.

Mr Hamann clearly has a whole lot of industry experience and is a really good operator. Also, his air motor is fast, but not super fast..

Hamann is AWESOME. He is a very kind, knowledgeable man who LOVES teaching. Kris has a full time job, owns a manufacturing shop on the side, and teaches at Poly at night. Kris is dedicated to his teaching and really loves manufacturing. His love for teaching clearly rubs off onto his students. He makes IME 144 a very enjoyable class that is fun and educational. I learned a lot during this class and I have gained a love for milling and turning. This class is easy, do the 20min homework assignments twice a week and study for the midterm and final and you will do well. The midterm is two parts, one hand drafting and one solidworks part to model. The class is scheduled so that the majority of coursework is in the beginning of the quarter and the homework dies off towards the end of the quarter. This is SO nice when finals start to come around. Kris was my favorite professor last quarter, HIGHLY recommend.

Kris is a great teacher with years of experience in both industry and at Cal Poly. He demos every machining operation and readily helps students who need additional help. He presents the drafting and CAD material rather quickly, but will repeat everything if you ask. Overall a great professor and a friendly guy!
