Dr.U is awesome. Definitely recommend taking a class with her if you get the chance. She makes complex topics easy to understand, and has a real passion for helping students learn.

even though Dr. U is an awesome person this class was confusing and hard to follow. she lectured to quick and seemed annoyed at certain students who would ask questions but friendly when others would. I think if this class was a semester-long course she would do amazing but she tried to squeeze too much information in a short amount of time. you also have to do a research paper that is due at the end of the quarter but she is unclear about what she wants for it. there's a final test using the program at the end as well but it is confusing because of all the information you have to include and you cannot use any notes. also, when we would turn in analyses or homework she would mark us down on stuff she never told us to include or do which was a little frustrating.

Dr. U is a really knowledgeable professor! Take a class with her if you get the chance. I've taken three of her classes now and I've learned more from her than any other prof at Poly. She uses really interesting videos and readings, but her expectations are high. She usually has a pretty big culminating assignment at the end of the class that you work on throughout the quarter, and in 2/3 of the classes I've had with her, she gave no formal "final."

I took Criminal Justice with Dr. U as an upper division elective and really enjoyed it. As a journalism major, I found this sociology class to be really interesting. The way Dr. U presented the course material was not only interesting but memorable. I learned so much more than I thought I would and I am taking away a lot from this class. That being said, this class wasn't a walk in the park. There were about 10 in-class assignments, a midterm (take home essay), a final (take home multiple choice), a group paper, etc. BUT regardless I would recommend this class to a friend because Dr. U is very pleasant, knowledgable and reasonable. Plus, the group speakers/field trip to the county jail were very *unique* experiences! P.S. If you're a sociology major and this class is required for you then definitely take it with Dr. U, you'll love it.
