Dr. Watts is a great teacher. She thoroughly goes over all the material with a lot of examples and does not rush through concepts you may or may not have learned in previous chem classes. You learn everything you need to know through her powerpoints and I never felt that I needed to do the suggested homework. Her exams and quizzes could be challenging but there were no trick questions and all the concepts are directly from the notes. If you pay attention in class and know the material, the tests are very doable and you should have no problem. She also posts midterm practice questions with a labpal to check answers which I found extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend Dr. Watts if you want a professor that knows what she's talking about and actually knows how to teach.

This was Dr. Watt's first time teaching the chem series, and I happened to choose her from the time offered (2-4 during the day), her previous polyratings, and the fact that a workshop was offered for the course. She did her absolute best to promote a learning environment conducive to the success of the students, despite never having taught a class of mostly freshmen. She had to dumb alot of concepts down, and most of us could tell she was holding much of her knowledge back. If you are a prospective student of gen chem 2, know this: all of the gen chem professors will be hard, and chem will suck at times - if you are instate, take a workshop! (its totally free if you are above 8 and under 20 units!) The workshop easily made the difference of my grade and sanity in this class. With all that said, Dr. Watts provides sometimes challenging, but completely fair (and doable!) tests and quizzes. I am not anywhere close to a chem major, and I still don't know what a derivative was, but I managed to scrape right under the A- after her curve. If it's a tossup between two teachers, I would take Dr. Watts again.

Dr. Watts is amazing! One of the best chemistry professors I've ever had. Her lectures are organized and coherent which is so helpful in making sense of material. Her tests and quizzes (and grading) are very fair. There is homework and in class assignments but nothing is due, they're to help with understanding and applying material better. She teaches an appropriate amount of material and understands that this is a survey class so we don't need to know absolutely everything in depth. She is super helpful and approachable with questions too. Definitely take her for Biochem if you can!

Dr. Watts is a great professor she gives 4 quizzes(drops lowest) two midterms and a final. In lab she doesn't give a midterm and the quizzes are open notebook. She's young and genuinely nice and is very approachable. I love her lecture style which is very organized and clear!

Dr. Watts is an amazing teacher. Not only is she an enthusiastic and energetic lecturer, but her lectures are really well organized and super approachable. Her quizzes and midterms are very fair. She doesn't expect you to memorize much, and instead wants you to understand what is happening. 10/10 doctors recommend Dr. Watts.

Do not take Watts, she does not want to help students. Her class basically works so that you memorize her notes, if you have questions on applications on the material or anything more than what she is going over she usually can't answer it. Three times I went into office hours to ask her questions that I was confused on and ended up getting half credit when that question showed up on the exam. If you take her, don't study, memorize your amino acids and know general concepts because she gives you exams where your out into a new scenario for the first time and have to figure it out in the middle of a timed exam. Oh she's also incredibly monotone and will shut the door on you if her office hour is about to end. Don't take her

She's so smart but will just bullet out surface-level notes during lecture. Very dry and so hard to stay interested in anything she's saying!!! Her exams go WAY deeper than what we learned in lecture...also in office hours whenever I'd ask a question she'd look at me like I was an idiot and talk to me like I was dumb so not a huge fan

I think this was her first time teaching CHEM 475 lab (can't remember well) and I think she's great. She's always there to help students with troubleshooting certain experiments and helping to interpret results. Have to thank her big time for helping me interpret so many results that I got confused on interpreting. Very clear in expressing changes in protocol or explaining the protocol of each new experiment. The one time she guest lectured for the very short 1 hour lecture time for this class, she was very clear with her lecture, so I'd assume she's a great and organized lecturer too. Don't be afraid to ask questions!!! She is always willing to help! Would recommend taking her if she teaches 475 lab again.
