This guy is awesome, he totally helps everyone in class and is open to students questions and opinions. His classes can get a little monotonous at times, but overall he is a great teacher and knows the shit he's teaching. I definately recomend taking his class if your that good at math, he really helps you grasp the material.

Mike McJilton is the best math teacher I have had so far at Cal Poly. He explains things very clearly and if you didn't get the course material in class he is more then happy to help you at his office hours. I think that he is a perfect example of what every math teacher should aspire to be.

Mike is a very helpful math teacher. He really knows his information. I have learned so much in just one quarter that it is unbelievable. However, he is a no "bullshit" teacher. He expects all of your work to be turned in even if you are dying in your room. He also expects you to be there for every exam; no makeups. Overall, I would highly recommend Mike, but enter with caution!

Prof. McJilton really knows what he's talking about. He makes math so understandable. He's also very fair when it comes to grading. He looks at progress and won't hold that one bad grade against you. There are three midterms and one cumulative final. I found them really really challenging, but Mike is always available and helpful during his office hour. He likes students who put in the time and the effort. Show him that you are sincerely trying to understand the material and he'll take care of you! Overall, a very good professor doing a great job at teaching such an unpopular subject.

McJilton is a great professor in that he explains information very well and is very clear. The class is structured well: a homework assaignment is given at the end of every class period. It will be due in one week. Tests are not too difficult or tricky. Highly recommended!

This class was extremely difficult. I will admit that he really knows his stuff well and can teach it well, but he also assigns at least 2 hours of homework per class. If you expect to pass, you ALWAYS have to show up for class, always turn in your homework, and go to his office hours because you'll need it. Sometimes you'll do your homework, and he'll through a homework quiz instead(which really sucks!). And if you aren't there that day, you get a 0. One time on halloween at 6pm at night, he made everyone come to class by throwing a pop quiz. If math isn't your strongest subject, I wouldn't take his class because it is very fast pace and he is very difficult. Plus, I worked my ass off every night and only got a C!

Mike is a cool guy altogether. He knows how to teach the material without it being too confusing. He does give homework everynight which isn't the best but he usually let us out early from class. Overall I would recommend him because he relates to the students well and he explains all teh confusing math stuff well.

Mike was a very good professor. His lectures were always very clear and understandable, and he was more than willing to give you help if you needed it. He collected homework, but he allowed time in class to go over any problems, and then collected the homework the next day. There were 4 midterms and a final, all which were very reasonable. He even allowed a 3x5 index card for notes on each midterm and one side of an 8x11 sheet of paper for the final. I really enjoyed taking this class from him.

Mike is a really good math teacher. The final is not bad at all. Homework counts so do it.

Great teacher. The best math teacher I have had yet. Gives a good amount of homework which helped me stay on top of this. Recommend him to all that have the chance to take him.

Excellent teacher all around. He gives concise and clear lectures which help make the material much easier to understand. He gives a fair amount of, but doesn't go overboard with, homework which directly relates to the material (he doesn't randomly pick problems out of the book). Very highly recommended!

I would recommend this teacher for anyone who takes math 221. He is very helpful and is very good at explaining math at a good level. He will always answer student questions and never makes students feel stupid when they don't understand. He does not require attendance, but it does help if you attend class every day. A very good teacher.

Mike is super great. He presents the material pretty fast, but he is really efficient, and so you get it. at the beginning of class he goes over homework problems that students don't get, and he explains it really well. his midterms are just like the homework, so as long as you understand that, you should do well. he doesn't put anything super tricky on the tests, and if he does, there's always a curve to help you out. he's a great teacher and i would recommend him to anyone!

This guy is really smart. He definately knows his material. You must go to all classes if you plan to stay along. Its a fast moving class, but if you take notes then you should be able to review it later and be fine. This is my first time with calculus and mcjilton made it a lot easier then I thought it'd be.

Do all of your homework and you will be fine. His tests are pretty straight forward. Do not do your homework at the last minute if you can avoid it... it gets you in a really sticky situation and getting good grades on your homework helps in the end. It makes your overall grade much higher if you do it. Mr. McJilton is a pretty cool guy... kind of punchy sometimes. But i would recomend taking him.

This guy is the perfect professor. Hes a young guy and relates well to the students. The grade in the class is made up of 2 midterms, a cumalitive final, and homework. Each worth 25% of your grade. His lectures are short and clear. Hes always there at his office hours to help students and his tests are very fair. He makes a tough subject very easy to learn and apply. I really recommend this teacher because he is great.

This guy is awesome! Calculus can be a tough subject for many people, but Mike reviewed the material very well and with sufficient depth to understand the subject clearly. The homework can be harder than the tests, so if you actually do your own work, and you ask questions if you have a problem, then the tests should be easy. All I have to say is that he is the best teacher I've had and everyone should try to take him.

Mike was a great teacher and very helpful in office hours. He presents a lot of examples in class and his tests were fair. We were allowed note cards on both midterms and two for the final, there was also 30% a take home part that he gave us a week to complete. There is homework due everyday and he grades all of the problems so make sure you make good use of the solutions manual at the library so you can make sure to get all of the answers correct. Anyway, he's a great teacher, we got out early every day by about 30 minutes, and I highly reccommend him.

This is a good teacher for a class you have to take. His tests are extremally fair, all you have to do is keep up with the homework (which you get graded on, so it only helps your grade). He isn't the most approachable guy, but he isn't mean. He is straighforward about what he expects and what you should expect. There are 2 midterms and a final. All worth a big chunk of your grade, but whats new. You can easily pull of a B, no question. And for anyone who has taken calculus before its a breeze (like me)!!!!! So strongly recommend this straighforward, nothing special, but nothing bad teacher.

Mike is an amazingly good professor. This guy knows exactly what he's talking about and teaches it to students with great ease. He helps you through anything, doesnt assume you already know stuff, and grades and tests fairly. The guy is honest and straightforward, sometimes a little harsh, but extremely fair. He is always available during office hours, easy to get a hold of, understands if you need to be absent, and is easy to talk to. There is homework assigned every class meeting, but you always have at least 3 or 4 days to do it. The tests are easy and fair if you keep up with the homework and basically know what you're doing. I would take any class I could with Mike McJilton. Awesome teacher.

This class was really easy. He presents the material very well, so as long as you go to class and do the homework you'll do fine. Hes a pretty nice guy and easy to talk to if you need help. He has homework packets due every week and about 3 midterms and a final. The final is comprehensive but not too bad. I honestly didnt do much for the class and I got a B.

He was an easy teacher, but not to be confused with a good teacher. He doesn't give any examples that are not in the book. Also do not ever say a word in the class or he will bite your head off. I even got in trouble for apologizing for kicking someone under the table. Homework is given nightly but only collected about every two weeks which was nice.
