Hi, I was hoping someone might have a review on this professor since I'm signed up for this class next quarter! Thanks!

Zach is better than most 118 instructors at Poly, but that's not saying much. For the most part, he doesn't lecture. He has course notes that you can print out online or just bring your laptop to class. This makes it difficult if you have never learned the material, but he walks around class answering questions and sometimes will do demonstrations. I did well in the class because I had previously taken precalc and I had a workshop as well, but without that I would have done significantly poorer. Highly recommend a workshop in addition to this class. Overall, Zach is a good instructor and you will get out what you put in.

Zach is really awesome...this is a relatively easy class and he explains concepts very clearly and slowly. Most days we get out early and he is very understanding. Some may find him boring, but compared to other profs I've had, he gets the job done. All the examples he covers in class and the homework questions mirror the midterms and quizzes so there are no surprises. He is very helpful during office hours and is also very patient and dedicated to helping his students. I've heard horror stories about other professors who teach this class so if you are stuck picking between teachers, def take Straus!
