Professor stevens is by far the best professor I have had at Cal Poly. He gives no final, but you have to do a group presentation and do a chapter quiz every week. They are very easy, all you have to do is read the chapter. I highly recommend Professor Stevens if you want an easy class with an amazing professor!

There's no final or midterm only quizzes. The quizzes short answer parts are a little difficult, but overall the class was easy. The lectures seemed like the biggest waste of time sometimes but Cal is super nice and fair.

Stevens is one of my favorite Cal Poly professors thus far! He is passionate about HR/management, helpful to students during office hours and during lecture, and provides students with enough background about the subject. When you take Stevens, you won't regret it. Just make sure you participate and study for the frequent quizzes during the quarter.

Cal is one of my favorite professors!! He organizes the class a little differently than other teachers, you have a test every week on the material and this has midterm-quality questions, you do not have an actual midterm or final, and you take it individually and on a group. This is a great method because you do the reading, he gives you some pointers on what to focus on, and then you prep and immediately get to take the test on the material. You are also assigned a consistent group who you not only take the tests with but also work on a quarter long project with. Most of class (besides the tests at the beginning of the week) is just discussion and little activities. You do not really need to take notes becasue you have already taken the test on that material. Only need to take notes if it will help you on the project. Me and my teammates became really good friends and it seemed that way for all of the other groups as well. This is the same structure as 477. Also, after I had him I asked for some advice on a project I had for another class and he went completely out of his way to help me and my group. He tries to make personal connections with students and stay connected with them. IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO TAKE CAL STEVENS, DO IT!!

Professor Stevens has been my favorite Professor so far at Cal Poly. He is extremely interested in helping his students succeed and makes learning fun. His class is set up with weekly quizzes that are about 1-2 chapter(s) of the textbook. He has no midterms or finals, which is really nice. This class is a lot of team building activities and is project-based. The project is interesting and not too time consuming. Overall, I have never had a Professor who is so happy, energetic, and passionate in every class. It's the last day of class and I really don't want this class to end! Highly recommend taking Stevens.

Cal is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is such a genuine person and really cares about each student. He takes time to learn everyone's names, cares about your opinion, and so on. There are no midterms or finals, just 8 chapter quizzes and a group project. Participation is also required, but you'll find yourself actually looking forward to his class. He does things in a very engaging, fun way (one day we spent the entire class building legos.) I would highly recommend Stevens. I just wish he taught more Business classes.

Professor Stevens is a really nice man in a really boring class. The class is set up where you have 8 quizzes over the quarter with no midterm or final which I liked. The quizzes are actually kinda hard. They are based off the reading so you actually have to do it and the reading is extremely boring so that kinda sucks. There is also a group component to the class where you work together on in class stuff and you analyze a company on certain aspects of their culture, not to bad. Ask him how he met his wife the story will not disappoint.

Professor Stevens is extremely friendly, dedicated, and passionate about the subject. I like that there is no midterm or final. You take 8 weekly quizzes based strictly upon a very deep and thorough reading of the book, and your lowest quiz gets dropped. That keeps you on task throughout the quarter instead of cramming for finals, but I wish he'd lecture on the chapter before the quiz, not after. I don't like that arrangement, because once the stakes are over, the lecture becomes a moot point, at least with respect to your final quiz score. In-class discussions can be interesting, but the book is horrendously tedious. I really don’t like that book. If, like me, you're not a fan of learning about dozens (dozens!) of arcane theories that revolve around teamwork on the job, each week's reading is a slog. If that appeals to you, then you're in luck. If you don't read the whole chapter and take good notes, you will do poorly on the quizzes, case closed. He places a lot of emphasis on participation, and he is paying attention to you and your efforts, and awards (or removes) points accordingly. Don't let him catch you on the phone! I find his grading methods on essay questions and papers hard to predict from assignment to assignment, so figuring out exactly what he wants is not always the easiest thing, but you can certainly tell he's not grading on any kind of autopilot. He's fully engaged at all times. The group work and final project are a big part of your grade, so take it seriously. Again, really focus on learning the book's lingo, even though you'll forget 90% of it. A very doable B, but a hard earned A.

He is the embodiment of high-strung HR departments. This is the most important class you will ever take, because you need to learn how to deal with these kinds of people as early as possible. Nice on the outside, judging on the inside. He gives off a very fake vibe. Very specific quizzes on common-sense material, make sure to memorize all the details. Quizzes are %35 of your grade. Final group project comes out to ~4000 words, isn't too bad if you start early.

I loved Cal so much! I have never rated a professor before but he was so amazing that I felt like I should give him the rating he deserves. There are no midterms or finals, just 8 weekly quizzes, 3 papers (2 with a group), and a group presentation on the last day of class. He makes class so entertaining and is literally the cutest thing ever. If you're a business major thinking about going into Management & HR, take Cal! You won't regret it!

Don't let the cheerful demeanor fool you, he is a hard grader. He is really passionate about the class, but the class is boring. He loves his students, but thoroughly looks at participation. Participation is worth as much as the final, so if you don't like talking in class don't take him. He is a really nice man, but he grades a lot harder than expected. It's a boring class, but he definitely loves teaching it. If you are thinking about HR as a concentration definitely take him, but if you are anything else, try to find someone better.

I had this class Fall quarter of this year and I liked Stevens as a professor. The class was arranged so that instead of a midterm and final, you have weekly quizzes which are worth ~35%, and he drops the worst score. As long as you do the reading thoroughly (as in, take notes and actually spend the time reading the chapter in depth because some of the quiz questions are very detailed), you'll be fine. He emails out a weekly "study guide" telling you what material will and won't be on the quizzes each week. Besides the quizzes, the only other work this class requires are 3 writing assignments, one for each section of the class. The first was worth 10%, the second was 15%, and the last was worth 20%. The last two are group projects, and you'll be assigned teams near the beginning of the quarter. The final group project / presentation was annoying, but not too difficult - just try not to procrastinate on it because it will be obvious if you do. Participation is 20%, which means you have to attend every single class, and he grades kind of harshly on participation so you have to be very active in participation and get him to like you right off the bat. Overall though Stevens is super nice and willing to work with you and I'd recommend him as a professor.

Stevens is the nicest professor I've ever met nonetheless the class is not too hard to pass with an A. I didn't like the class setup because it consists of reading the material, taking a quiz on the material you read, and then he lectures on the material after which clarifies some content that you may have been confused on and I would find myself spacing out during the time he lectured on the material because I already knew it. However, he makes participation a good chunk of your grade so make sure to attend class because he claimed to take attendance at random times without letting us know and make sure you introduce yourself, ask questions, and participate in class in order to get a good participation grade. He lets you know through email exactly what to focus on for the weekly quizzes from the reading which is very helpful. Make sure to read the chapters at least twice because his quizzes can be a little hard even if you read and study. He tends to make quiz questions very sentence specific which can get tricky but not too bad. He drops the lowest quiz score as well. You don't have a midterm or final instead you have those weekly quizzes on the reading. You have 3 papers to do: an individual one and 2 group papers. The 1st group paper is really easy and short and the final group paper goes hand in hand with a presentation you do based off analyzing a company and is also not too hard. Overall this was an enjoyable class and very interesting altogether!

Stevens is by far the best professor I have had at Poly. The way his class is set up is so nice compared to other courses. There is no final or midterms, just quizzes every week and he drops the lowest score. There is a group project at the end, but it really isn't that bad. He creates the groups based on personality and types. I really loved this class, highly recommend taking Cal even if you aren't a HR concentration because he makes the material interesting, and he is the sweetest guy ever.

He's nice, sweet, and the way in which he met his wife is cute. But that's where the positives end. The class is well structured, but everything is done in groups which isn't inherently a bad thing - it just sucks when you don't have a good group. But most of all, he is someone who will veil his racism with subtleties that make you question whether or not he just said that. Granted, he (paraphrase) doesn't want to be racist, but he (verbatim) "saw a black man in a hoodie" walk past his house and admits to "feeling uncomfortable." He then proceeded to ask the class to justify to him that he is not a racist. On the flip side, a couple classmates got into a discussion about race during the section on diversity and he immediately stopped class, making everyone feel really awkward. He's a nice guy, but he is not qualified to teach a class on "how to work with people"

Best professor for 387!!! Mainly because there are no midterms and the final is a group essay and presentation. Weekly quizzes on the reading are kind of challenging because the quizzes are so specific, but in the end my average was a B, so not too terrible. He drops your lowest quiz grade and that helped a lot. The information was pretty interesting, but not the most riveting, and he spends all of the class just explaining the reading and adding videos to help you apply the info. The writing assignments include 1 small personal assignment about your "personal charter", the second is a "group charter", and the third is a group essay where you focus on one of the course concept and discuss how a company of your choice uses the concept in their business. Overall, pretty easy A, the only work I ever did for this class was reading for the quizzes and the weekend reading bc there were very short reading checks in the beginning of our Monday classes, super easy A.

Professor Stevens is a great guy who is super passionate about what he teaches, but he kind of sets up the class to seem like its super easy at the beginning and it just gets progressively harder every week. While the whole reading quizzes instead of midterms/final is cool, you have to read the sections with a microscope to get a good grade on them. It is possible, I managed to average about a 90 on them but make sure you've read it at least 2 times and studied the key terms a bunch (the key terms are on quizlet, just search BUS 387 chapter whatever). On quiz days he lectures on the material that you just read meticulously so its pointless to listen to, but attendance is required so you gotta show up. There are 3 papers that you have to do as well. The first one is super easy, just dump key terms on it and you'll get an A. From there, he grades wayyyy harder. The second paper which you do with a group seems easy but make sure your formatting is perfect and you dump course concepts all over it or he'll tear it to shreds. The research paper which serves as your final takes a lot of work too, so don't put that off to the last minute. A lot of what it comes down to is how your group is. If you have a bunch of lazy and/or quiet kids in your group, you're kind of screwed cuz you do everything with your group and it doesn't change for the whole quarter. Class takes a deceptive amount of work but still not too hard.

Personally didn't like this class because of the setup. 8 total quizzes throughout the quarter, no midterms or final exam. You read the chapters, take a quiz, then he lectures on it. Lectures are boring because you already read the material, so lectures don't "really" mean anything, especially since you aren't tested on it again. The quizzes are 35% of your grade, so if you prefer having the professor lecture on the material before taking a quiz/exam then I don't recommend this class. The 1st paper is easy just dump a lot of class material in there. 2nd paper is a team charter which he grades a bit harder. the 3rd project is a final paper and a presentation. Overall nice guy and is willing to help, but I don't think this class is for everyone. Every week is a grind because of the dense reading, so if you think you have a heavy courseload already, I recommend taking another professor or taking this during a quarter you have easier classes.

Cal is the BOY. He is the cutest nicest most wholesome professor I have ever had. He literally welcomed students over for thanksgiving if they didn't have a family or plans. Such a great prof, he knows his shit. There is a quiz every week that's only like ten multiple choice questions and then a short response. He will email yall with what exactly to study and there is no midterm or final. The quiz scores make up the midterm grade and then there is one final group paper. TAKE HIM FOR BUS 391 IF YOU CAN.

Stevens is great professor - TAKE HIS CLASS! He is genuinely interested in what he teaches and in the teaching alone. This class is super interesting, and I learned a lot. Its weekly quizzes on the reading material that are pretty detailed but manageable. No final. Group project + group presentation, two short individual refection papers, some case discussions. Generally not a very demanding class. Stevens is a really good discussion facilitator so the lectures are always interesting, interactive and fun! He is super friendly and nice in every way possible, and he really wants his students to learn and develop. Cant wait to take another class with him!
