Super down to earth guy. Very passionate about statistics and seemed to genuinely care that we understood 'why' and not just 'how' It was definitely a hectic quarter, something bad was going on in his personal life but he was nice and very helpful, especially in office hours. Exams were take home that were long and not too difficult, just pay attention about how to use jmp since you need to use that a lot. Overall, definitely recommend Lossing.

Had lossin fall quarter and i just finished stat 324 with an A. TBH, it was easy after surviving this class. Not an easy class but informative and ask not boring as stats can be. He even helped me with my R code from my bio class

Very very chill guy, walked into lecture the first day with a shirt ready, "Only chill vibes" or something like that which I found to be reassuring. I respect and admire his outlook of the world and he was never afraid to speak his opinion about global issues. Aside from that, maybe it was because it was his first time teaching STAT 218 (for COSAM majors) he was without a doubt the most unorganized prof I've ever had requiring we print a 200 page course guideline he didn't even write, scrapping that by week 3 along with the textbook that was originally required. His homework assignments were rather lengthy, but definitely informative with lots of great practice, but failed to return or input any assignments prior to exams blaming his student graders instead of recognizing his fault in the situation. I received a great grade in this class but it is because I took the time to teach myself 80% of the material to myself because he was so unorganized. Overall, I would say he was far too laid back, canceling classes, shuffling homework due dates and exam dates all over the calendar. I would never take him again after how stressful this course was and I think any educator who sat in just once on his class would very quickly see a wide range of changes needed for this class. Lossing, Jesus Christ, pull it together. This class was ridiculous, expected maybe in junior high but absolutely unacceptable at a polytechnic university.

I LOVE Lossing. He is one of the most passionate instructors I have had, and it really reflects in his teaching. He does his best to present material clearly and he gives out plenty of notes. You can tell he really cares and wants to improve because each week he sends out a survey and has the students evaluate how well the week has gone and what he can do to improve and help us understand the material. His office hours are very helpful as well and I would recommend going to them even if you have one question, because for Stats each new concept builds on the last, and it is easy to get behind. Logan gives weekly quizzes and a lot of them are group or take home quizzes, but it's really helpful because he makes sure you stay caught up. Overall, I would recommend Lossing! My biggest tip is to start homework early and ask questions throughout the week so you are prepared for the quizzes.

TAKE LOSSING!! If you do the homework and pay attention in class you will be very prepared for the quizzes/midterms. You have quizzes once a week but about half the time they are either group or take home. If you do your homework you will be 100% prepared for the in class quizzes. His midterm is very fair, if you can successfully do your homework and packets he gives in class you will succeed on it, he does not try to trick you. Overall a funny great guy who can and will answer any question you have on the material!

Lossing is a really chill person and you can tell that he truly cares about his students and that he is passionate about statistics. However, this class can be very challenging for students who have never taken statistics before. He often rushes through his lectures and writes things on the board without making sure his students are following the note guide. He also uses a software called JMP that he doesn't provide clear instructions for that makes the class unnecessarily more difficult. Lossing is incredibly intelligent and is definitely overqualified to teach 251. In order to do exceedingly well in his class, you must consistently ask questions and make sure you keep up with the rigor of the class as it does get intense pretty quickly. Overall, Logan is awesome and willing to support any struggling students as long as they reach out to him.

Most amazing teacher I've had so far! He does SO MUCH to help his students understand and prepares you so well for the tests. Just show up to class, take notes exactly as he puts on the board, and you will get an A on every quiz/test. If you do not understand the notes, his office hours are extremely helpful. He made stats easy to understand and fun to go to class (but he also cancels class a lot).

Lossing is one of the best professors I've had at poly. The way he sets up lecture is interesting and easy to follow and he really cares about receiving feedback from students on what he should be doing more/less of. His tests are hard but fair and the homework and take home quizzes are super easy and manageable (not time consuming). Definitely should take him if you have the chance!

Professor Lossing was truly one of the coolest instructors I have ever had. Super chill guy who really knows his stuff and is very good at explaining things if you have a question. I must warn you: the midterm/final are difficult in the sense that you do not have a lot of time to complete them and check your work, however, he does let you have a page of notes for the midterm and final. He is also very fair with his grading policies and isn't trying to screw you over. The best way to prepare for exams is to go through old quizzes and tests. Also, all his quizzes are take home. He's super chill but if you're disrespectful (ex. talking during lectures), he won't be afraid to call you out for it. Just show him respect and he will respect you. Totally recommend him, great guy.

Lossing is a really cool dude and I enjoyed having him as a professor. The class was pretty tough so I was in his office hours a lot and he was always more than happy to help me out. This class moves very quickly (thanks to the quarter system) and Lossing does his best to cram everything into the short time allotted - he speaks and lectures really quickly so pay attention. He's went to Cal Poly which is cool and he tries his best to keep lectures interesting and relevant. There were a few take home quizzes and homework assignments, one major midterm, and the final. I didn't love this layout and I wish there were two smaller midterms that covered less material, but it was manageable nonetheless. I've heard there are a lot of crappy STAT 251 professors out there, and Lossing is a good guy that I would definitely recommend.

Professor Lossing is a great guy who really cares about all of his students! This is his second quarter at Cal Poly and sometimes he gets a little jumbled up trying to explain things. But, he really wants each student to succeed and if you ever ask for help/clarification he will keep trying to get you to understand until you do!

LOSSING IS AMAZEBALLS.. first day i thought he was just a super old college kid. He has an electric skateboard and he's super chill. He understands how students need to be taught and gives very helpful notes. His tests are very reasonable and even if you dont want to he makes you an expert on JMP. His tests are very fair and he gives a basically identical practice test and he curves. Pay attention during lectures because he goes super fast and he's attractive so why not pay attention?

Professor Lossing is a great guy. He genuinely cares about his students and is passionate about connecting with us and ensuring that we learn all of the material. Since he is a relatively new teacher, he puts in a lot of effort to make sure we are learning and adhering to his teaching style. He is completely open to feedback and sends out a survey at the end of each week to see what we are struggling with and how he can improve lectures, labs, and assignments. His tests and homework are both extremely fair. He has a great sense of humor and makes class really enjoyable. Overall, I have really enjoyed taking Lossing's class and I would recommend him for Stat 252.

If you have to take business stats, take it from Lossing! He's a really awesome guy who wants his students to succeed and totally recognizes when people are struggling. He's really approachable and will help you one on one in class with problems and other assigned work you don't totally understand. JMP is annoying to try to figure out, but he does step by step work with it and class and includes instructions for it on his notes. For taking his class the first time he taught, he did an amazing job. Clear instruction, helpful notes, super relatable, and a great teacher all around. Take him!!!!

Logan is such a cool professor. I honestly look forward to going to his class everyday and am thinking about adding a stats minor because of this class. He is able to connect with his students well and get his ideas across efficiently. He never wastes a single minute of class and always has notes prepared for us that take up exactly 50 minutes. Stat 252 is a difficult class, but Logan makes it fun, interactive, and funny. He has dad jokes and college kid vibe. Hands down would take this class again. I urge you and all your friends to take this class for 252. HE IS THE BOMB.COM

Logan Lossing is a total chiller. His class is very laidback, yet focused at the same time. He keeps his lectures exciting but doesn't go too far off topic. He is very helpful when you ask him one-on-one questions and is very knowledgeable about statistics. His midterm was also reasonable, and he said the final would be fairly easy, although I have not taken it yet. I currently have an A in the class and haven't had to study much because his lectures contain everything I need. Also he's a young guy so he's very easy to get along with. I would definitely recommend this guy to anyone.

Logan is a very nice person. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. However, he is not a very organized person. The lectures and pretty hard to follow if you're not a math person. I often had to teach myself the concepts outside of the class just to keep up with what was going on. His tests were fair and he has grades that can help make up for any bad test grades, but I often felt unprepared for exams, no matter how much I studied.

I entered Cal Poly as a stats major, however shortly after I realized I was in the wrong major and put myself on an ICMA to switch into business. Being a required class for both majors (252 is interchangeable with 301) I decided to take this stats class. Logan has caused me to rethink my decision of changing majors. His passion for statistics is inspiring and he is a great example of someone that can be "nerdy" but "cool" simultaneously. I honestly enjoy going to his class and appreciate his take on not just statistics, but life in general. I feel like I have learned beyond just statistics and practical uses of statistics in his class. He does move at a quick pace, however, I think it is justified due to his willingness to reach out to his students on what they don't understand. He is on campus all day and responds to emails nearly immediately if you need help with understanding a concept. If your question is not able to be answered by email he is more than happy to set up a time, that day, to have you come in and answer your questions. I would strongly suggest you take his class and allow yourself to be inspired as I have.

LOGAN LOSSING IS THE COOLEST TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE. On the first class of the quarter, he comes in and I'm thinking "this transfer student looks like pretty old", and funny enough, he was the teacher. The class itself is pretty tough but Lossing is the type of teacher that wants the best for his students and wants each and every one of them to succeed. Not only does he give notes for every lecture, he gives you polylearn quizzes that you could do twice AND he curves the midterms. When you take the final, if you get a good grade, you could use that grade to replace one of your midterm grades. Lossing is a cool dude, easy to approach and is funny. He's very hyper during class and goes a bit fast so you better pay attention and stay awake. He always wants students to be engaged because that will ultimately help you in the class, trust me. Like I said, the class is pretty hard, but getting an A is very possible, especially if you genuinely want a good grade. Go to his study hours, ask a lot of questions because he definitely clarified all my questions. COOLEST DUDE EVER!!!

Logan is so chill. I highly recommend this class and I am leaving feeling very inspired. He is extremely prepared for each class period and expects his students to be too. He is very invested in our education and he has hella cool stories. He's young and chill and the class is very laidback. Of course it was tough material, but he does his best to teach it well and test well. Would give him a 10/10 and I would take this class again if I had to! You won't want to miss class!

He is super nice and cares about his students. However, his lectures are hard to follow. Most students seemed to just sit there because they didn't know where on the handout we were supposed to be writing stuff. His exams are fair as he just reuses homework questions because he's too lazy to write his own. He's pretty helpful if you ask him questions which is often needed since he's so scatterbrained. I should get an A in the class but I had to put in a decent effort to teach myself the concepts.

Lossing is the best. Enough said. His final is hard af...but easy to get an A on literally everything else...overall, you even if you get a 70 on the final you should be able to get an A in the class since he curves very well. He's just a good teacher and you wont have a reason to ever want to miss class.

Professor Lossing is the best! If you do all the homework and pay attention in class, it will be a pretty easy A or B. He answers questions well and is very helpful in office hours. His midterms and quizzes are literally exactly what you do in class, so to study just review your lecture handouts. Overall, I would definitely recommend him for STAT 252!

This professors lectures are the most unorganized lectures I have ever had to endure. He does not seem like he knows where he is going to go and is constantly rewording and rephrasing all of the information he gives which is confusing for students because he lectures extremely fast and in an unorganized manner. The note packets are not helpful considering no one knows where we are in the note packet. No one in my class seems to understand the material and he gives a lot of take home quizzes that are extremely difficult. He does not give a lot of information on how to use JMP which we use to get most of the information for the class. This class is beyond frustrating as someone who has even taken stats before.

I wrote that I got an A, but final grades haven't come out yet, however I for sure will be in the A-B range. Lossing is the fucking man. Honestly one of the most legendary professors I've ever had in my life. Would literally want to hang out with him every weekend if I could. He's super super super chill. The guy literally hikes the "P" and brings a lawn chair up there to grade tests. I was so comfortable with him that I called him "dude" once and he addressed me as "man" back. The guy knows his shit and legit cares about us learning the material. Go to office hours and if you're bad at Stats, like me, take a workshop. I got a C in 251, but excelled in this class. He realizes that most people are taking the class as a support class or a GE, so he doesn't try to rail you with pointless and difficult material. One of may favorite activities that we did was learning how to predict NFL Quarterback's salaries based on their age, touchdowns thrown, and completion percentages. It's activities like these that make the class enjoyable. One of the most reasonable teachers who is very much in touch with the needs of students. Grading is fair. Tests are fair. The whole class is fair if you put the work in. I would always stick around after class just to talk to him. He's a great guy. Some people think he's a bit scatter-brained, but I think it's that energy and excitement that keeps classes engaged. I never dreaded having to go to his class even though 252 is 5 days a week. Take Lossing, I don't think you'll regret it.

Logan Lossing is one of the best professors (and one of the coolest people) at Cal Poly. He is an incredible teacher, and cares deeply about the success of every student. He teaches valuable organizational skills on top of the material, which is presented clearly. He prints notes out for the class everyday with clear instructions on how to use the JMP software as well as clear example problems that are very similar to those presented on exams. Tests are very fair and he is the bomb, do anything you can to take him.
