Miller, Caleb  

Oh, Caleb Miller. What else can I say? He is awful. He puts things and asks questions on tests that you did not even touch on in class, he's rude and he doesn't actually teach, just writes things on the board and expects you to know them. If you do have the chance not to take him, definitely don't. And if you're stuck, good luck.

I had Caleb Miller his first year at Cal Poly, and immediately regretted it. Since I was a first quarter freshman I was blocked into his class, and I must say, he is too lazy to teach. He just puts the book problems and definitions on the board verbatim and expects us to understand. He shows as little work as possible, and tends to skip a lot of steps, even though that is a crucial part to math. He had set office hours, and would constantly show up late to them, or forget to announce he canceled them, so I would just leave. In the rare chance you do catch him in his office hours, he does having a couple redeeming qualities, as he will try his best to help, and ACTUALLY show his work... as if that's too much to ask for in a math class. Overall, please do not take him. It was a constant rollercoaster ride every week, after the first midterm, the class average was a 57%, yet he still didn't change his teaching styles.

Ma boy caleb is the coolest professor I've ever had. I was pretty nervous seeing these other polyratings, but after sitting through a few classes I've realized the other polyratings just weren't accurate. Being that Caleb is a grad student here, he is actually a lot more understanding of students than other professors. Caleb has a good set of notes that he hands out. He doesn't assign busy work, the problems are actually there to help you understand. His tests are fair and his expectations for the class are reasonable. Cool dude too with a good sense of humor.
