Take her. Great lady. Great teacher. I got a C because I missed a one of her quizzes so I couldn't drop one of my others. All my fault. She gave 6 total quizzes that represented your whole grade and dropped the lowest. The final was just one of her quizzes. No homework assigned or collected. Take her.

Sue McClure was really cool for Lab CHEM 110. She has easy and fun labs. You get to work in groups and her tests are pretty easy. I heard she is easier than Dr. Torres, who usually teaches the lecture part and some of the labs of CHEM 110.

Sue mcClure is one of the best professors I have had in college. She made Chemistry easy to understand and made it fun, which is not easy to do. She loves teaching and she makes it very apparant to all her students. She always made the time to help whenever she could. Her teaching style is excellent and her tests are very fair. She is by far one of the greatest teachers at Cal Poly.

Ms. McClure rocks! I feel bad not going to class everyday but come on!...9 in the morning?! Anyway, I've taken a chem class, a bio class, and a human physiology class in high school...so general chemistry was just going to be review. What pissed me off was that I'm sure I would have gotten an A if I went everyday. McClure explains her stuff well and sometimes if you're lucky she'll talk about how all her friends do drugs and that she likes wine. The tests are easy... I slept in 45 min. into the final and she still let me take it...she's by far the most sensible teacher I have ever met. TAKE HER!!!!!

She is a cool teacher. The only thing is if you havn't had chem in high school, it is a pretty tough course. But Mclure as a teacher is awsome. Sometimes during a lecture she'll suddenly go off on how to make cool chem experiements. Its awsome.

McClure is awesome! First of all, she is down to Earth. She can definitely relate to the students well, just wait 'til you get to the chapter on drugs! But really, her ability to make the material simple, understandable, and not utterly boring makes her the best science teacher I've ever had in college. And I've had a few! She has a crazy lil' obssession with hampsters (dunno?!?) but....hey....have you ever met a science professor who wasn't a little weird?! Parting words of wisdom: put in the adequate effort, show up to class most of the time, trust her with your grade and you won't be dissappointed. Good Luck!

Sue McClure is a great professor. Why? First of all, she can turn a boring chemistry class into an interesting and sometimes funny experience. She presents the material very straight foward, and keeps the lectures interesting by adding personal stories or just making the problems interesting (for example, is beer a homologous mixture?). Her tests are very fair. She also gives you a study sheet so you know everything that's going to be on the tests, as well as having a review section the last day before a test (DO go to this, she reviews EVERYTHING and sometimes gives you example questions). She also makes you do 3 short article responses on anything of your liking that involves chemistry. One very cool thing about her is that she gives out her home phone number, so if you ever had a question, you can just give her a ring-a-ding-ding and she'll try to help you out. Overall she's a great professor that you should try to take if you can.

McClure is awesome!! I hated chemistry in high school, and was actually dreading taking it in college, but McClure made it a lot better than I had expected. She is very clear and straight forward on her lectures and tests. If you go over the study guide and go to class, it is an easy A. There are three midterms(she drops the lowest) and a cummulative final (which is pretty easy). I also had her for lab, and she was AWESOME and FUN! I definately recommend her for chem 110 and if you can for lab. GREAT TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!

TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!! Sue McClure is the best!! I hated chemistry till I took her. She presented the material so clearly and made passing the class easy. She teaches in a way that you can't help but learn and from that the tests are really easy. There three tests and the final but she drops the lowest. And the three homework assignments are so easy and take very little time. You must take this class!!!!!

She explains the material wonderfully. It is only too bad that she isn't teaching the class next quarter. Her gerbal analysis are quite amusing also. I would highly recommend taking her, either at Poly or at Cuesta.

I'd say this course is pretty challenging if you hadn't taken Chemistry at all in the past; it's equivalent to a whole year of chem in high school crammed in one quarter - pretty damn fast-paced. I had the toughest teacher of all in high school for chem, so this class was a totall blast. McClure is a nice lady, and she places humorous jokes and analogies here and there, so class is never boring. She is concerned that her students are learning in class, so she's really good about having office hours, especially around big tests or exams. Also, it would be a good combination to have her for the lab portion of this class, but I had Lowell- an awesome teacher as well. One warning is that this IS a 5-unit class, so I suggest taking 106 if you never had chem before. Also, it really helps to take SI - get to know ppl who are on top of the subject, get together with them and have them help you out, and you should be good to go.

McClure scared the heck out of me the first day of class because she was full of herself and intimidated me! However, I learned to love that class. I HATED high school chemistry with a passion, and almost picked a different major when I found out that nutrition had a requirement of chemistry! However, I now catch myself saying that I love college chemistry!!! McClure honestly has a reason to be full of herself because she is the best teacher I've ever had for a science class. Her lectures are veeeeeeeeeeery clear and she doesn't mind repeating herself or answering questions. There are three midterms and a final in Chem 111. Each one is worth 90 points, and she does not curve, but she will give partial credit. There are also 5 quizzes that are each worth 10 points. McClure will let you drop your lowest midterm and your lowest quiz grade. However, you will have to know it all for the final anyway, and the final is worth 30% of your grade! (The lab is only worth 25%, so one test is worth more than an entire quarter of labs!!!) I attended the SI for this class because I was fearful of not doing well, but I still recommend taking an SI. The most important thing is not to skip class! She will pretty much tell you what will be on every quiz, midterm, and even the final if you're there! SHe doesn't try to trick you but she does give challenging tests! If you have to take chemistry do everything you can to get McClure! Not only is it an easy class if you go to class and read the chapters, but you also really know the information and realize that chemistry is NOTHING to be afraid of! :)

Professor McClure is a great teacher. She has a pretty hard subject matter and does a great job of explaining it. You will love her hamster stories and the funny stuff she says about her kid. There are three midterms (but the lowest one is dropped!) and a cumulative final. She goes over everything that will be on the tests, just pay attention and know your stuff. This is the class I dreaded the most in college and I actually almost enjoye it.

If you stuggle in chemistry -take Mcclure. She is truly the best teacher I have ever had. If you come to lecture and take the S.I. course that is offered you will get a good grade. I was expecting chemistry to be a huge miserable stuggle. Her lectures are so straight forward and understandable it will make you enjoy chemistry. Her lectures are funny and interesting. She is also very willing to help anyone who asks for help. Go to office hours and take advantage of it. If you put in the effort you can get a good grade.

McClure really helped me to understand Chem. I had a horrible high school course, and so I told her I wanted to take 106 first, but she told me to wait a week. I am so glad I did. She really makes sense in her teaching and lets you know the material that is most important to learn. There were about 5 quizzes, three midterms and a final. All are pretty easy if you study what she tells you. And the textbook will really help you learn if you do the practice problems it gives you right when you get to them, not later. Go to her class. She does such a great job that missing will give you so much more work. Quizzes are only like 5-10 problems and exams are like 20-30. Lab is worth 30%, Final exam 30%, and the quizzes total 10%. She is a bit hippy-ish, but is a great teacher.

Here's the deal with McClure: if you are looking for an extremely slow, easy chem class, this is the class to take. My chemistry class my Junior year in high school was way more difficult than hers. I was practically bored to tears through her lectures because they were SO repetative. Don't get me wrong, she's a really nice lady and very approachable. She is available to her students and was always willing to help out and answer questions. If chem is not your strong point, and you don't need the class as a base to move on in a series of harder chems, then this is the class for you, otherwise, do not take her for this class.

McClure is a very exntertaining professor. She has a lot of funny stories that she relates to what is being tought in lecture which makes it easier to remember the material. Her exams are simple if you just go over the notes in class and pay attention. If you already have a general understanding of chemistry from high school, then this class will be a breeze.

Be careful when you ask McClure a question because she will most often times give a very arrogant response. She makes it seem like you should already know the material and this makes it difficult to approach her with questions. I had her for lab too and every time I asked a question she would get really irritated and sometimes I could hear mumbling when I walked away...who does that? She also claims that she is allergic to skunk??

Professor McClure is a pretty easy teacher. She gives you a study sheet at the beginning of each unit that lays out exactly what will be on the test. It's also helpful if you have her as your lab instructor also because it's much easier to follow along. I found that I didn't really need the book. The majority of the questions on the tests are similar to problems discussed in the lecture. The quarter is about halfway over and so far I am receiving an A. As long as you take notes during class and make sure you understand the material on the review sheet, you should earn at least a B if not an A. And by the way, don't be surprised if you hear analogies to hamsters or hamster stories throughout the quarter. I don't know why, but McClure always talks about hamsters.

Of all the Chem 111 teachers, she's probably the easiest so try to get her. Her lectures were easy to understand but also try to get the SI class in addition to her class because it really helps and I think you're pretty much guaranteed an A if you take the SI class too.

okay, i would recommend mcclure. she is very easy to understand and actually not too difficult. most of the things on her test are from lecture and she gives you study guides so you know what to study. the only reason why i got a c in her class is because i had a high b, so i didnt study much for the last test, but i should've because i didnt understand the last concept she taught. so i ended up with a c.

i failed chem in high school, and i got a 93% in this class. mcClure is a great teacher. she explained everything clearly, and was open to all questions. no hw, just 3 midterms, 1 final, and a few quizzes. as long as you stay on top of it, the class is cake. take her for lecture FOR SURE, and if you can take her for lab--the other lab teachers are kind of anal about things, while mcClure walks you through everything, and youll get out early every lab, guarnteed.

She has a very humorous and relaxed approach to her lab. She walks you through each lab at the beginning, so even if you haven't read the pre-lab, you will be able to do the lab. She is very helpful when you have a question and will help you re-work problems to solve them. 2 quizzes, the second one had some obscure info on it...study the labs and the calculations you have to do for each one.

McClure's class was pretty challenging, but for a chemistry class that I was forced to take... it wasn't too bad. She was presented topics clearly, especially with the help of many hampster analogies.... maybe too many. I hear she's the best chem 111 teacher out there... I wouldn't be surprised... I suggest taking her if you have to take chem 111. But don't take this class if you don't have to.

McClure is freakin awesome. Chemistry 125 was so easy and care free having McClure. She has 3 midterms, and a diagnostic quiz worth 50 percent. She gives you review sheets of what you need to know for each of these tests which proved to be a big help. She also gives out sample problem packets before each exam which helps even more. Her lectures are pretty clear and concise- and they weren't AS boring as Tanikella. She's got a crazy sense of humor and really likes chemistry in general. I had Tanikella for the lab and this was painful. The labs are about as lame and boring as they come. If you take Mcclure for the labs, you should do fine in the lab portion(worth a quarter of your grade). To sum it up....TAKE MCCLURE

My advice is to take McClure only if you're not expected to take another chemistry course again nor will be required to remember any of it. I did very well with McClure but really really struggled with the following chem classes. She simply does not teach at a high enough level, probably just a notch above high school. I sincerly think that she doesn't really understand chemistry all that well, so she aims for a low level so that she doesn't get any hard questions. If you do ask questions of substance, watch out for the flying bullshit. I didn't know how bad the class was until the quarter afterwards. I'm angry at myself for taking an "easy" teacher and ultimately mad at Poly for giving me that option.

I would say Dr. McClure is probably one of the easiest chem teachers I have taken. It seems that she does teach it at a fairly low level, which is probably fine since only engineers are taking this class, and it shouldn't really be to important to any of their majors. There are 3 midterms and a final exam. For each midterm she gives a not sheet that tells you the concepts you should know and a list of problems she recommends doing from the book. If you look at this sheet and understand what is on it you should have ABSOLUTELY no problem getting an A. There is not one surprise on any of these exams. On the other hand she seems a little lost when she is answering questions, but considering people ask questions about some of the most random stuff that is understandable. I would take McClure if you want to finish up your engineering chem with a pretty decent grade. Depending on if you are going on to a higher level of chem, I would perhaps take another look at the other teachers but you should be fine with her anyways.

McClure was an awesome lecturer. She made a dry subject like Chemistry extremely enterntaining. She is hilarious and I looked forward to going to her classes. She writes fair, easy miterms and finals and she does an excellent job of parying the book in her lectures. She'll refer you to pages in the book where you can find what you need to know for the tests and instead of being different, she's one teacher that actually coincides with the text. She responds quickly and clearly to questions over email and she takes time out of class to explain things. I would definitely recommend her for Chem 125 or any other class she teaches.

Yes, this "professor" is a complete joke. Her stories about why she didn't finish her PhD (some nonsense about not wanting to work on a male contraceptive) is appalling. She tries to mask her lack of knowledge of chemistry with humorous stories but compared to real chem professors like Schoonover or Gragson, she is seriously underqualified.

Sue McClure is quite possibly one of the best professors at Cal Poly. Like all "lecturers" she is far more intelligent than those other professors who hold their PhD's out there. I mean, come on, Gragson is a dick and Schoonover is a crotch stuffer, and at least Professor McClure won't belittle you when you walk into her office. Yes, chemistry is a boring subject and yes I regretted this class, but Professor McClure drops in jokes from time to time to ease the Chemistry pain. I would recommend McClure for this class because I think even she realizes that this class is a waste of time. So if you are going to sit here a bash her on this site, then you deserve an F.

What a stinking load of crap the easily intimidated little mouse below me has written and I really question whether he has any ability to judge a teachers's worth, let alone if "he" is even a student at all. I am a materials engineering graduate but my major required me to take alot of chemistry while at poly, including one very unbearable quarter with Ms McClure. She was by far the worst, making an important and potentially important subject utterly meaningless and irrelevant. Dude, if McClure has you convinced that a course she is teaching is a waste of time, SHE has failed YOU. I didn't think I would use any chem after graduation but believe me it comes up all the time. Take her if all you want is a quarter of jokes (she's somewhat funny), but if you went to college to get an education, avoid her and let the stupid kids take her.

I had her for lab and she was always there to help. I'd go in early just to chat about chemistry. She knew a lot. But the one thing that really really bugged me about her was she was so pessimistic. And no not in a whiny funny way... she was literally depressing. We'd be talking and she'd just mumble, but they won't hire me, or no one bothered to inform me of this lab, or they really overpay the proffesors, or my son is working hard... ok those don't sound too depressing but you should have seen her face and heard her voice. She really was out of it. And she wouldn't explain stuff unless you asked stuff kuz she expected we knew all this stuff we never learned. But besides that she was really smart.
