Ms. Lambertz was great. Compared to the horror stories of all the other instructors, I lucked out crashing her class. She's pretty new and still getting her degree so she's pretty relatable. If you want to enjoy your coms, I'd definitely look for her

Professor Lambertz-Berndt overall was good, and I am glad I ended up taking her for COMS 101. She talks slowly and clearly, making note taking fairly easy. She is very neutral and objective while interacting with the kids in class. (This translates to a fair grading system.) She is one of those professors that tells you to "look at the syllabus" whenever you have a question about the class despite the syllabus not being incredibly clear, but she is fairly new and still seems to be figuring things out. She responds to emails promptly, and wants to help students in any way she can. The layout of the class: 3 speeches, written assignment, and the final. Not bad at all. The speeches take a lot of time to prepare but professor is clear about what she wants, so formulating the speeches isn't difficult in itself.

Don't take Ms. Lambertz-Berndt. She does not seem to understand that this is a GE. The speeches took hours to prepare and included a prep outline and speaking outline. My friends that took Coms with other teachers got to speak about fun topics while we had to discuss problems in the US, more problems in the US and how to solve it, and an American value "under attack." They require a lot of research and are not interesting to listen to for 2 hours. Her grading is terrible too. As far as I know, the same 3 or so people got A's while everyone else got a B or lower. She said my last speech was "very good" and yet I only got an 85. It would be hard to fail her class, (the written assignment is basically 100 free points if you do it), but don't expect an A in what should be an easy class.

Dr. Lambertz is a very understanding, clear, and relatable teacher. She's a pretty tough grader though and it's easy to lose points here and there on speeches-- which will result in a pretty drastic grade drop if not careful. However she's incredibly understanding and will acknowledge your hard work. Definitely go to her office hours.

This class wasn't too hard, but she did take it very seriously. On days there weren't speeches, you were there the full 2 hours covering chapters in the book. She was very encouraging and had a positive attitude that made you feel comfortable giving a speech but she took off a lot of little points that added up. She did give good feedback after speeches on what could be improved and was very helpful with speech topics. Overall, this class probably has more work than other Coms classes but it's an easy B.

I would definitely recommend taking Professor Lambertz-Berndt. She does take the class seriously, but I feel the workload wasn't ridiculous. The speeches are all outlined in the syllabus and she gives adequate time to prepare. There's only three speeches and a final, with a fairly easy written assignment due at the end of the quarter. Aside from the speeches and written assignment, there is no homework aside from reading, but she does spend days without speeches lecturing on the chapters. Overall I loved having her as a professor, she's new and young but keeps the class interesting.

Megan is a great coms 101 professor. She's clear, direct, and understanding. One of the things about Megan is that she's a practical teacher, so her grading is based entirely off the rubric which I don't think anyone realizes. I based my three speeches on her rubric and averaged an A throughout. She's also a fair grader and will tell you what to work on. Overall, she's an outstanding professor

Professor Lambertz is a cool person and good teacher but I highly do not recommend this class. She is much harder than other coms professors. You will have to study more and work on yours speeches for a long time in order to get an A. She grades right from her rubric. You can give an incredibly speech and get a C on in just cause it wasn't the way she wanted it. Her rubric also isn't complete it will say outline format /10 and you won't know what outline format is. She will only go over how she wants it once at the end of class, never repeat it and never post it online. It is possible to get an A but you'd have to put in way more work than its worth. She is a cool person but she makes the class purposely harder.

I have mixed feelings about this class. Dr. L-B is a great person and you can tell she cares about the class and wants students to do well. Her enthusiasm also makes it much easier to give the 3 graded speeches in this class, each of which is 20% of your grade. She is also very helpful in OH and will help you find ways to improve your speeches (which usually just means following the extensive comments she writes for your speech grades). That being said, the lecture component of this class was useless because it's all common sense stuff and the final asked more about what the textbook said than what was covered in lecture. Also, since Dr. L-B cares so much about the class, she adheres strictly to her rubric and will hold students to a high standard. I was kind of surprised at my grade for the first speech, but I looked at her extensive comments and improved for the subsequent 2 speeches. Overall not a bad coms teacher, but if you don't really care about coms then look for another professor.

Dr. L-B is super helpful if you take advantage of her office hours. You can tell she really cares about her students and appreciates when they care about her class, too. She is a picky grader, but not as bad as the other ratings made her out to be. It's an enjoyable class and I got a LOT better at speaking in front of a class.

I loved Dr. L-B! She is very kind and informative and does a very good job relating the lectures back to us. I took her class during quarter plus, so I had 3 graded speeches and a final within a 4 week period, but i still managed to get an A and didn't feel over burdened, so it is definitely doable to get an A, especially when you have more time to write each graded speech. She does grade her speeches directly on the rubric, but gives excellent and extensive feedback so I was able to improve on each speech. Her final exam is very based on the textbook, and while she does go over it in class, if you don't read the textbook, you my struggle on the exam, so if you don't want to read the textbook, I don't recommend taking her class. I'm not a huge fan of writing so I thought I would hate this class, but in the end I would recommend this class and Dr. L-B!

I got blocked into Lambertz-Berndt's class my first quarter at Cal Poly and I am so thankful! She did an excellent job presenting the course material and was always willing to help during office hours or via email. Grading-wise, she was tough but fair. Do not make the mistake that this is another easy GE class. You will have to work for your grade but Lambertz-Berndt is a very understanding, relatable professor and will help you as best as she can. She is a new professor and I think she does such a great job!

Prof. LB was a rad instructor. She was clearly passionate about class topics and was knowledgeable. This class isn't easy. One must study hard and be engaged in order to do well; yes, buy the book and read it. The class didn't have a midterm but a cumulative final that was very difficult. There was a final group project that was time consuming but you could pick your group and topic. I would recommend this instructor to anyone!

Love this professor! She is so nice and her class is simple to follow. Do not be alarmed with the large training program presentation because all the assignments lead up to them. The exams are not hard if you pay attention in class.

MLB is such an understanding, kind, and amazing professor. She explains topics really well, while keeping her lectures entertaining by incorporating "hot topics", videos, etc in them. She understands we are very busy as students at Cal Poly, and offers extra credit at times to help with our grades. If you pay attention and take good notes especially on what she says not just what's on the slides, you will do well on her exams. MLB is such a great person and everyone seems to enjoy her classes! Would recommend.

I really appreciate how Dr. Lambertz involves us a lot in lecture by asking questions and for examples/stories--that helped me stay engaged and interested for all of class. The reading and writing amount was reasonable. Enough to be adequate for a college course but not so much that I burned out by the end of the quarter. She is so enthusiastic and encouraging that it made me look forward to going to class. The writing assignments compelled me to be insightful and learn more about myself and my world, so I would say this class had a permanent effect on how I view society. The class required work but it was not hard--easy self reflective, personal writing assignments, and an easy to read book and articles. (Note: I am about to finish the class so I don't actually know if I got a A or a B)

Dr. L-B is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. Her classes are challenging, enlightening, and fun to attend. I have taken both her Advanced Organizational Communications class and her Intercultural Communications course. Her Advanced Organizational Communications class was super informative and I even added one of the large projects we did to my resume. Dr. L-B's Intercultural Coms course was not only a great learning experience, but it's also changed my perspective on day-to-day life ever since. If you get the chance to take one of Dr. L-B's classes, you should: she is fair, energetic, loves her job and students, commits a ton of time to meet with you and help you, and is overall an awesome instructor.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS!!!! I took it during the second 5 week summer session and had low expectations for this class to be honest. However, professor L-B is easily the best professor I've had, even though the class was fully online. I'm not a communications major and frankly have hated all coms classes I've had to take, but this was great. Not much busy work just weekly discussions and quizzes, and a final presentation/paper that is all group work during the final 2 weeks. Assignments are straight forward and brief, and the project was a breeze if you base it on a topic you are interested in and find group members who are willing to put in equal amounts of work. She responds to emails very fast and really cares about each student learning/succeeding as much possible. I emailed her often and she always was accommodating and prompt, which neeeeever happens at Poly. I wish I could've taken this class in person because I think L-B is probably freakin amazing
