Dr. Huzzey is pretty good about presenting the material in a helpful and understanding way, however, you do need to pay close attention to the lectures. She is also posts supplemental videos and holds review sessions, which are very helpful when it comes to studying for her tests. It's possible to do well in the class, but you will need to put some work into it.

This was a very fun class to start my time off at CalPoly. Dr. Huzzey is extremely nice and easy to get along with. The course is not very difficult as its an entry level course.During the lectures you have to listen closely or it will like seem she is only reading from the slides when in fact she adds extra in her speech. The test are difficult if you don't put a little extra time studding in. In this class you are placed in to groups of 4 or 5. You will do projects with your groups. these projects are fun and easy as long as you don't save them for the night before they are due.

I love Professor Huzzey! She went a bit fast with the lectures at first but she eventually slowed down. The material at the begging of the quarter is easy, and then just gets harder from there. This is her first year teaching, and we weren't able to get though all the topics we were supposed to. We ended about 2 weeks behind her schedule. Her tests are not hard at all as long as you study. She gave up to 40 points of extra credit which will boost your grade by 6%. Even without the extra credit I would have gotten an A. She is very helpful if you go to her and she even set up study sessions before the tests to help students out.

She's amazing. Her lectures are so helpful and she teaches you everything in class. Take notes, go to her office hours! She really does everything she can to help you. Group projects are fun and easy and you just learn a lot. But her two midterms and final are hard. Study! A lot. A lot, a lot. It'll be worth it though.

Dr. Huzzey is a wonderful professor and a joy to learn from. Her presentation of material is clear and concise. In a course that contains a lot of information, Dr. Huzzey did a phenomenal job keeping different topics organized. Her worksheets and study guides were detailed and prepared me well for her exams, which are not terribly hard. I went to her office hours a few times, and she was really sweet and helpful. She is great at explaining things and is always happy to help if a student has a question. Dr. Huzzey is most definitely one of the best professors at Cal Poly.

Good professor, but do NOT take this class as a GE. Unless you're some kind of science major, there is just way too much information presented that you are supposed to learn within such a short period of time that you're probably never going to use again.

Dr. Huzzey is a very nice proffesor. She presents the material very clearly and makes sure that everyone can understand what she is talking about. I am an Animal Science major, but IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY GE CLASS, I DO NOT RECOMMEND (unless you are good at Bio or are interested in Animal Science) There is no homework for this class, however she assigns a lot of group projects that take a lot of time. The first miderm wasn't that bad, but I felt that the the second midterm we took contained way too much information that could have easily been split into 2 separate tests. Also, I felt like some of the questions on the midterm were not straightforward and were meant to trick us. This is understandable sometimes, but overall, the midterms were pretty hard and I know people who studied for hours and hours and got D's on the second midterm. I don't mind how hard the class is too much since it is for my major, but it is a lot of work for someone who is just taking this as a GE class. Also, there are a lot of group projects, and she always seemed to assign them right before a midterm or final, when all I really wanted to do was study for the tests. Overall, I still gave Dr. Huzzey a good rating because the class was very interesting, she is a nice lady, and I learned a lot of new things.

Huzzey is a great person, and I've heard that other classes that she teaches are fairly easy. But this class was really hard for me. I didn't take AP Bio, but those that did said it helped a lot. Her tests are HARD, part multiple choice and part short answer. The short answer part is graded by her TA's that don't all grade in the same way, so be sure to review your midterms and fight for your points. It's a tough class and Huzzey does a decent job at explaining everything. It's really obvious that she cares about her students grades. The biggest downfall is how hard the midterms are. Missing class isn't a good idea, ever

Has no idea how to be concise with her material. She will spend 30 minutes on one subject just to confuse the whole class when what you really needed to know was in the first 30 seconds of her speaking. She is terrible with understanding the needs of her students and seems to believe that her class is the only one everyone is taking. While her workload is moderate during the quarter, as soon as exams come around she will screw you over entirely with tests that misrepresent entirely the information presented during lecture. Very disappointed with this professor, would not recommend anyone take her unless you absolutely love teaching yourself an entire quarter's worth of knowledge due to the incompetency of a professor.

Dr. Huzzey is a nice professor, and is very knowledgeable about the information she presents, however this class moves very very quickly, and she often goes on a lot of tangents (especially about cows)! I had to take this class since I'm an ASCI major, but definitely wouldn't recommend taking this class as a GE unless you have a good background knowledge of bio/basic chem, or really like science. Her exams are difficult, but not terrible if you study. She does two group projects, so it's important that you have a good group, and don't miss class! She often adds supplemental info in addition to her powerpoints so it's important to pay close attention to her speaking. Tips: Go to TA office hours. Get the clicker questions right because they're free points. She also puts various images in her powerpoints, and while you may think they're not important, a lot of them end up on the test! I studied everything and that is probably how I managed to get an A-.

As an animal science major, I LOVED this class. I personally found the class to be totally manageable as long as I went to class and studied hard for the exams. The exams are, however, HARD. These exams require extremely detailed knowledge of all of the concepts, so if you are going into this class hoping to "BS" your way through it, DON'T. If you have a background in AP Bio this class is probably a lot easier, but since I hadn't taken that class in high school I had to fight really hard for an A. The class also involved multiple group projects that all happened to be due right around the time of each of the exams. All in all, this is a very interesting and information-packed class. I think that if you are really interested in animal science and determined you will do well, but if you don't give it your all you will have a difficult time. In my opinion, Huzzey is a GREAT professor and does a great job at keeping students engaged. All in all, be prepared to work hard, but it is so so so worth it!

Huzzey is an amazing teacher! She's really knowledgeable about all the material and if she doesn't know something she'll be honest and say she doesn't know rather than trying to make something up. Her office hours are great to go to if you have any questions about tests or even just want to discuss something else she's super helpful! I really enjoyed this class and the teacher! The tests weren't that bad if you study and review the charts/graphs she has on her slides. I would definitely recommend Huzzey! She's an understanding professor and her class very straightforward!

This class was difficult. I am a not an animal science major and she really doesn't really realize that a lot of the class were not going to be in the animal science field. The amount of studying that I had to put into the class was not worth it and I don't recommend taking the class due to the depth of the material and the amount of time you will have to study.

Dr. Huzzey was GREAT! I loved her class. She is very knowledgable about the subject and if you study, her tests are SUPER easy. I can see for a non major how this class would be really difficult because it is A LOT of biology. If you like biology, though, and spend a little time studying for her exams this class is super easy.

This class ended up being more similar to a super generic biology course than Animal Science, but is a nice introduction to what you're getting yourself into if you are and ASCI major. Dr. Huzzey is very intelligent and handles questions well, so if you're confused, ASK; if she doesn't know it then someone else in the class will. There are clicker questions in class, so you will need the iClicker or buy the app on your phone to take the class and note that the points add up (and are relevant to the tests). The tests are more difficult than you think that they'd be, so be prepared and study hard for them! There are 3 exams (including the final) and a couple of group projects during the quarter, but there is little to no everyday assignments for the course.

Huzzey is a very bright and energetic professor. This class is definitely difficult, so if you're planning on taking it as a GE, don't. The material is clearly presented and if you ever need clarification on a concept she will gladly explain and go into further detail. My biggest tips are to go TO OFFICE HOURS!! Whether it be with her or her TAs, this helped me so much. The exams are very specific so you basically need to know everything she's ever put on a powerpoint/on her PolyLearn. Yes, its a lot of information but if you take the time to study it shouldn't be hard. Overall, Huzzey is very good at teaching and I enjoyed this class. P.S attendance is key!! Those clicker questions will drop your grade fast if you don't attend

This class is definitely not an easy A like it should be. Constant flow of pointless "busy" work all the way up to the final. She did not curve the midterm grades even after the class average on the second midterm was a 71%. Keep in mind there was 100+ people in the class. Delivery of content was extremely dry and she graded harshly on the group projects.

Huzzey is pretty chill. This class is definitely not an easy GE. It goes in depth and you have to know a lot for each test. The biggest complaint I have is she never posted anything on time. She would say she's posting our grades one day and they wouldn't be up until like 10 days later. Kinda annoying when you're trying to see your current standing. Anyways, not a bad class, but don't think its an easy A or B. You have to study and learn the material to get a good grade.

Her quizzes and tests are well beyond what should be required for 100 level class. If you do not have interest in animals do not take this class as it sucks. Her lectures are very dry and boring and she is a weird teacher. She expects way too much of her students and her obsession with cows is a little weird...

She is a really good teacher for ASCI students but wouldn't take this class if you aren't an ASCI student. All her tests are based off her lectures which is easy. It is an easy A if you put work into it but if you just want to take an easy GE I would recommend something else. She is super nice and has a quirky sense of humor. Her lectures are very straightforward and she is very approachable.

If you have taken AP Bio and did well in it this class will be very easy for you. If not, it will require more studying. She posts practice test questions on PolyLearn a few days before the 2 midterms and final which were really helpful. If you know everything on the practice test questions, you will do fine on the tests. I got high A's on all of the tests. All of the tests are worth the same amount of points, including the final. There are weekly quizzes on the material learned that week. You get three attempts on each quiz and only your highest grade gets recorded. There is one group project/ essay near the end of the class which was pretty easy and required observing animals on the animal units. I thought she was amazing and would definitely take a class with her again.

Dr. Huzzey is freaking amazing. Her lectures are super helpful, and she teaches in a very clear way. Her study guides and practice questions are amazing resources. USE THEM WHILE STUDYING. Not gonna lie, her midterms and final are difficult, but extremely fair. Her office hours are also really helpful. She's so sweet and is more than happy to help if a student needs it. My biggest recommendation would be to go to class.

Dr. Huzzey was very clear in her teachings and was willing to offer several alternative explanations in class if a large portion of students seemed confused. The exams are extremely fair and if you don't understand concepts then you're in luck. She is willing to meet during office hours and she holds review sessions. Also just going over notes, supplemental videos, and paying attention in class are really all you need.

Class is the biggest joke. Class = 2 hours of the driest lecture in your life. midterm and final and participation are worth 33% each. If you want to memorize 500 terms for the midterm and 500 more terms for the final you can get an A. Had the class with about 10 friends and thats how we did so well. But honestly I got NOTHING out of this class

Huzzey is a well liked teacher on campus but she really does not do much. During lecture, she is really hard to follow along with and makes it harder to understand than it needs to be. When you ask her questions she does not actually answer the question and seems annoyed that you are taking her time. The slides are posted online so you don't even have to pay attention in class because you can just go and look at it later. She does post videos which is helpful and she makes a study guide which is also super nice of her but she waits until a few days before the exam so you cant rely on it.

DO NOT TAKE UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. This is not a knock on Huzzey, but rather the curriculum as a whole. I managed a B because I did well on the group project (equal to one test grade) and got 100s on the participation and quizzes. Overall, it was a lot of work and the lectures can be dry but I put a lot of work into studying and managed to average a c+ on my exams. Also, Huzzey isnt the best at following deadlines (she moved a exam and project back) so stay ahead in your other classes. Still, Huzzey is a nice lady who is passionate about her subject.

Dr. Huzzey was great in the beginning but eventually as the material became more difficult she was unable to explain a lot of it clearly which was confusing. Often times students would ask questions that she would answer in a confusing way and make certain concepts more complicated than they needed to be. She also came off as unapproachable to me. I had to take this class as an ASCI major but I would not recommend taking it as a GE because if you want to do well it requires a lot of extra studying. The positive things about this class were that Dr. Huzzey didn't give much homework and only one project. Also, at the end of the quarter she gave us some extra credit opportunities which allowed me to get an A in this class.

Dr. Huzzey is an amazing professor who cares about the success of her students. ASCI 363 is not a difficult class, but Dr. Huzzey makes it fun and interesting. She takes the time and effort to meet students' needs and is always happy to be lecturing. While this class only met once a week, I've learned so much from Dr. Huzzey. I've learned how to write resumes, present scientific information, and interviewing skills. When I mentioned I was interested in the masters program at Cal Poly, Dr. Huzzey introduced me to the director. Definitely take 363 with her!

Just beware that Huzzey is very bias when it comes to student success. Especially with this class, she assigns you into groups randomly, and every assignment/presentation is only given a group grade. If you have issues with your group at all and there is an uneven balance of work being done, she is completely not understanding or willing to listen and tells you to wait until the peer evaluation to talk about it, which you write while sitting next to your group... So basically, congrats if you get an awesome group, but if you don't you are completely screwed for this class with her.

This class was both very laid back but interesting. You basically have a series of short lectures that you use to do projects with a group. These projects are basically your whole grade, and Huzzey expects effort put into them. This really helps you prepare for real world discussions about animal science debates and its an easy A.

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.
