Vagnoni is a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. There is no textbook, no homework, and no assignments. There are iClicker "quizzes" but you get 100% just for doing them. His midterms are extremely simple and he practically tells you what is going to be on them before you take them. He really tries to make sure that everyone understands things before moving on to the next section. He is super open to criticism and really tries to make his class better in any way he can. Do I feel prepared for upper division nutrition classes after this class? No not really, but hopefully his foundation was good enough.

I was in Dr. V's class the first quarter he came to Poly. The class was a bit disorganized at first, and it took him a while to see where the class was at with nutrition. That being said, throughout the class he was constantly trying to go at our pace. He has shown more effort and genuine care for our understanding of the material than any other professor I have had. I am positive his future classes will be much more structured once he gets into the rhythm here. I highly recommend taking any class he teaches. You will learn something!

Let me start off by saying that Dr. Vagnoni is an awesome guy that really wants his students to succeed. His grade consisted of some homework but mostly 3 tests, final included, and were entirely short answer. I REALLY suck at short answer tests but Vagnoni helped me a lot in class and office hours so I was able to pass the course. There is no book which is great but your only reference material is the slides he goes over in class which are good/bad. If you take super detailed notes you'll be fine otherwise I would start. The math problems are somewhat tricky but the easiest way I found to remember how to do them was just to do them over and over until you have the processed memorized. I believe Vagnoni is still a newer teacher who has a lot to learn but something great about him is that he is WILLING to learn, you just have to help him out sometimes and tell him the ways he can improve. I would take him if you can, you'll learn a lot!

One of the most boring classes I have ever taken. The whole class bombed the first midterm, and then after that all the midterms and even the final became take-home. I stopped going to lecture probably mid quarter, and if I did go I was not mentally present. It is mind numbingly boring, especially if you've had nutrition before (which is a pre-req I think anyway). Labs were chill, lots of petting cows and playing with feed. I actually really enjoyed the math parts of this class (lots of conversions). Overall I put in very minimal effort and ended with a B

Dr. Vagnoni is a great professor, he is incredibly approachable and seriously takes his time presenting the material so that everyone has opportunity to understand what he is presenting. He is funny and makes sure the class is enjoyable, dairy science may not be your favorite subject but he does his best to make it as painless as possible!

Dr. Vagnoni is one of the kindest, most enthusiastic teachers in the department. He really wants to make sure that a student understands the material, and won't move on until everyone gets it. This can make lecture a bit boring if you already understand the material, but it is something that I personally appreciate. Even though I didn't find the lecture material the most interesting, Dr. Vagnoni totally makes it doable. My one critique would be his grading system. I get that this is an upper division course, but 4 midterms (one of which is during dead week) and a cumulative final was a lot. On top of that, we had a lab midterm and a final project in lab. I think 3 midterms would have been better.
