Dr. Staniec is an awesome professor who teaches a super fun class. The material is easy as long as you have general knowledge of animal anatomy and basic understanding of diseases. This was one of my favorite classes all of freshman year as it was very hands on, pretty easy, and I learned a lot of basic knowledge to build a foundation of off. Take this class if you're considering doing anything with small animals in the future.

Dr. Staniec is the best. She's a wonderful teacher and the material is so fun to learn. You won't have a hard time with this class due to her expertise and understanding in the field. She's a great teacher and doctor! Her class is really easy and even though it was at 7:40 in the morning, it was still really awesome to go. I didn't go to class like twice once and she emailed me because she wanted to know if I was okay. She's really caring and understanding of her students! You can basically talk to her about anything especially if you have concerns over your dog or cat. Love her! Take her, you won't regret it!!

Very hands on class. You help her out at the vet clinic with appointments and she lets students do majority of the work. 3 quizzes and 2 midterms. I studied for each quiz/midterm/final the day of, and still received an A on all of them. Each test and quiz she gives extra credit questions. She really helps students understand what we're learning and is a nice, easy going, fun spirited teacher.

Dr. Staniec is overall a very nice professor. The class material is very interesting and not difficult to understand. Dr. Staniec is very willing to help you after class or during office hour. The quizzes and tests require a lot of memorization, but don't worry. She has a couple of extra credit questions at the end, and I think She may curve sometimes. The class assignments are easy to get full credits as long as you finish them. I would recommend to take Dr. Staniec if you can not just for 227 but also other courses.

So friendly and experienced, the information was interesting, and overall it was just a good experience with a great professor. She was so caring and had a sense of humor and I would definitely take a class with her again.

I took this teacher and was super excited. She presented the material and her tests were all pretty straight forward. She does two midterms and a cumulative final. Her quizzes are a little long because they are 35 question, but they are 35 questions that you should easily get if you review the material. She was always kind and eager to help. If you can take her, do it. She makes the class fun and interesting and gives a lot of opportunities to get extra credit or bump up your grade. Definitely go to office hours if you have questions because she's super smart and always willing to help.

This class is what any small animal pre-vet Animal Science major dreams to learn about. Covers behavior modification techniques (where you even do a project surrounded around training an animal, due at the end of the quarter), evolution of companion animals, history of the pet industry, anatomy/physiology, breeds, zoonoses, diseases and treatments. Its a broad class, and so I will say the anatomy portion of the class was too short for all the material there. I recommend taking Anatomy/Physiology of Farm Animals first, because then for sure this class will be a complete breeze for you then. (Also-- Staniec is, of course, fun and awesome).
