Unfortunately he is the only professor who teaches this course. He is very boring. The tests, at least the quarter I took it, were nothing like the homework or what we had done in class. I've heard that isn't the same for every quarter. Also he does not go over tests or homework in class. He doesn't answer his phone if you try to call him, and he doesn't have an E-mail address, so he is hard to get a hold of. Can be a crank sometimes! He has thrown people out of class because they cough too much!

Just talking to himself in the lecture. No going over the homework. Unclear hand writing. You'll get confused by him! So wait until the department change another teacher for this class before taking this class.

He's somewhat of a dry and slow lecturer, however if you pay attentions he adds a little humor off and on. His lectures are only somewhat clear because he writes very small and somewhat slopy. He does not post HW solns after they are do and he doesn't do examples in class so it's hard to know what he wants on a test. His tests are hard, but he has a huge curve at the end.

Is this guy still alive? He missed a week of class, and then we were all cramped to make up for it. Don't take his class early or late, you'll fall asleep. Sit up front and make the most of it, he's the only one who teaches it. Don't go to his office hours except to laugh at his organizational skills. He gets the material across ok though. Don't get up to piss during his tests, he'll fail you, instead wear a incontinent diaper like he does.

He is a very good teacher. Much better than any Fluids 1 teacher. His lectures relate very well to the HW. So just take good notes

I was extremely disappointed with this instructor, for many reasons. I felt his tests were unfair, his lectures uninteresting (and unclear), plus he was intimidating and lacked the mental and social competance to teach a class with students. His tests were *mostly* fair, but there was always at least one 'grade killer' problem that was simply impossible to do (3-page derivation from homework was one of them...how is anyone supposed to remember that?!). Since he only has four problems on his test, missing that one problem hits your grade from an A, to a C- (which is why no one does good in his class). He threw two people out of my class for coughing. Several lectures he explained to us his 'conspiracy theories'. Quite literally, this man is insane, even if only mildly so. He is a blessed lunatic...very smart, but also an obsessive-compulsive (don't believe me...see his office!), with many irritating and intimidating personality quirks. He never posted homework solutions. He never helped in his office hour. He never did example problems in class, either. What kind of teacher is this guy? The tenured kind. The kind that can't be fired. This man needs to be retired, badly. If at all possible, take it from someone else. I know a few professors that teach it on rare occasions. Look for them, but be warned: do not take Malombourg. You will regret it.

Anyone who thinks Malmborg is a good teacher is just as insane as him. When I say insane, I mean it quite literally. He carries his stuff to class in a garbage bag. He rambles on about conspiracies and brainwashing on campus. His office is filled to the ceiling with stacks of old papers. He sits in a little slot cut in between stacks. In lecture he faces the chalkboard and blocks his writing so there is no way you can copy it down. His first test is okay, second is really hard, and final is moderate. Don't smile or cough or sneeze in his class, or he will ask to see your i.d. Don't show it to him or he will grade you unfairly. Don't let him know who you are if you get on his bad side. If you ask a legitimate question he can't answer he will make you feel like an idiot. The word on the street is that other teachers will soon be teaching this class. Take anyone besides him.

Overall, Malmborg is a good professor. Yeah... yeah, he might be strange but he explains physical phenomena in a way that helps clarify theory related to the class. Take as an example supersonic flow, is difficult to visualize phisical phenomena that explains molecular interactions in a gas traveling at supersonic velocity, but profesor Malmborg explains it in a way that makes perfect sence both matematically and physically. I really believe that previus students that graded Malmborg were just bitter of how strict he is, their narrow vision did not allow them to see the qualities of this instructor.

Malmborg is a TRIP! Yes, the rumors are true. On the other hand he knows his material, has had practice with every lecture dozens and dozens of times, and will occasionally throw humor into the lecture. If you can laugh at his nuances you

This teacher is like your average teacher. His notes are pretty organized and so are his lectures. He sometimes relates his material to what happens in real life situations. His tests appear to be fair and based off of the book and his notes. Although most of the homework was not very difficult, he did not post any solutions to them and you would have to see him in his office hours for the solutions (which is why I gave him an average rating). Office hours are also somewhat helpful, just don't get intimidated by him.

He's... well... he's Malmborg. Pretty much everything you've heard is true. I was actually hoping for a bit more craziness, but no such luck. His grading scheme is a mystery, and he doesn't give a syllabus. Both of my test scores were less than stellar, yet I still managed to get an A. Basically, if you get Malmborg consider yourself lucky, because unless you totally slack off, you should pass easily. Furthermore, he really knows his stuff, so if you're really motivated to learn fluids, that opportunity's open as well. Given a choice, I would still recommend taking the fluids II/fluids lab combination course I hear they're going to start offering (possibly with Pascual as prof. since he did the experimental course), but if you do end up having to take Malmborg (which is probable), you can relax about it.

Malmborg rules! Anybody that says Malmborg is not an awesome professor is nothing but an obstinate fool because they aren't doing well and think it will be easy to blame the "crazy" professor rather stop being lazy and do some work. He is freakin' hilarious and a really nice guy, not to mention incredibly bright. And for those of you who don't like (or do) any reading of your textbooks, this is your professor. His lectures are so clear and complete (a perfected multi-colored chalk system) that you can do all of the homework problems no sweat. Grading is simple and straight forward, two exams and a final w/ homework (which is generously graded) being a huge chunk. Everyone should take him, whether for 342 or one his tech electives.

WOW, is this guy a character or what. I've never had a teacher that I liked and disliked so much. Took a little while for me to get used to him but he's not as bad as some might say. He knows the material very well and can answer any question you throw at him. I might take him again if given the opportunity.
