Pena is the closest thing I've ever gotten to a high school substitute teacher here at Cal Poly. She genuinely cares about the class and what everyone learns, but she just is not a super effective professor. Here's an average day of class: You'll find yourself sitting through short actual lectures about textbook material, followed by pictures of her on vacations in any place mentioned beforehand. I swear to God this lady has been EVERYWHERE. The only place mentioned during lecture that she didn't have pictures of was Antarctica, but who knows, that might change soon. After these PowerPoints (all from which she reads directly off the slide, but whatever, I din't want to be there either), you'll be watching an early 2000's Nat-Geo kind of movie. Bizarre Foods, Parts Unknown, or God forbid Globe Trekker, which played out like a snuff film made by a 10 year old. Once you're done with the videos, you'll have to fill in some maps with country names. You're going to write down the name of EVERY country. Even those weird islands with other countries inside them and beneath them or whatever weird politics they have. TL;DR: The class is pretty shitty, but Pena is aight.
