This guy does not understand what you ask of him. He should go back to whatever butt-fuck place he came from. He is completely worthless. The lab setting is very important as it gives us students a hands on feeling for the material, and this professor was unable to teach.

Unless water is your game, this is a very boring class. Dr. Mallareddy does the best he can to pass on the information but, this class is too easy to be 4 units. It seemed like he was wasting a lot of time on very simple concepts just to fill in the 2 hr lectures. He does not use the book. He has his own text for the class from 2nd Edition. He has a bad habit of assigning homework from the book that he has not covered so don't beat yourself up trying to answer all of them. Just make sure to do them all before the exams since he follows the homework his tests exactly

Dr. Mallareddy is very nice. No doubt about it. As a proffesor, he's becoming a little bad as he gets older. He does not use the book so don't buy it. You might use it as a reference during the lab, but only buy one book for five of your friends. His lecture notes are full of mistakes but don't try to point them out to him, he won't understand. My advice for getting through this class is to read his lecture notes, go to his office hours for anything you don't understand (like I said...he is nice and tries really hard), but skip his lectures, because they are straight from the lecture notes. (his ability to lecture straight from the notes without looking at the notes will astound you). But he is the better choice for water professors....

Homework questions are incomplete and unclear. He is so old that he cannot actually answer your question: instead, he repeats the part of the lecture relevant to your question hoping that this will make the subject click for you. I spent hours and hours on homeworks working out what the question was asking, and accounting for all things that the question could mean. For example, my solutions would look like: "If the question statement indicates x, then this is my solution... If the question statement indicates y, then this is my solution... . . ." It will piss you off a lot. Also, he will never admit that he made a mistake in the manual or the question or anything - it's really frustrating.

2 Midterms (25% Each) 1 Final (40%) Homework due DAILY (10%) The fact that homework is due daily makes you come to every class merely to turn it in. After you turn it in, go home. It's not worth staying.

Definitely one of the nicest teachers out there. Even though he speaks relatively softly and his accent is sometimes hard to follow, he is extremely nice and honest and sincerely wants you to understand the material and get an A. Go to his office hours. He is a very nice teacher. No complaints at all except that he is getting up there in age and it may be more difficult to understand him in the coming years. Great and humble professor.

CE 337 with Dr. Mallereddy is an extremely boring class, although you do get to do some cool labs. He lectures for the first hour of class at least (sometimes more) and it is terribly hard to understand what he is saying no matter how hard you pay attention. He also requires lab reports for every lab that are huge. The lab reports require at least a couple hours of work. All of this was a lot of work for a 1 unit class. The nice thing, however, is that you get to do a lot of fun labs and Dr. Mallereddy is always willing to show you what you should be doing. Expect to be in lab all 3 hours.

Mallaredy kicks ass! He's a really good prof, helpful, patient, and slightly funny. Youll learn a lot in his class. The lab write ups are long, but he a fair/easy grader.

Loves to go off on tangents about whats wrong with today's engineers in training and the degredation of society in general, other than that, he's a nice guy and a decent teachers. Labs drag on a bit long at times, but that's hydraulics lab for ya, don't think it has anything to do with the professor.

Mallareddy is dope. He teaches in a manner that shows his knowledge and love for water resources... He is WAYYYYYYYYYY better than Lo. Malareddy does not use the book at all, so don't buy one. Keep crankin on all the HW and you will be fine...

He is one of the best teachers out there. He is always, i mean ALWAYS available for help in his office. My suggestion to everyone who takes him, read the notes carefully and you'll unerstand. If you don't use his office hour. He has been one of my favorite instructors at Cal Poly and I would highly recommend him for classes.

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
