McPeak, Joseph J.  

McPeak was an okay professor... I think he's like all other accounting professors, but slightly below average when presenting material clearly. His voice is also pretty annoying. When I had him, only half of the class came to class and everyone would only show up during tests days and picking up the test. THE ONE THING I LOVE ABOUT HIM THOUGH IS THAT YOU CAN TALK TO HIM. I had a hard time taking this class because I only had to take this to change majors for my ICMA. I was failing and he told me that if I did significantly better in the final, he would give me a grade bump. So I killed the final this spring quarter and he helped me pass the class as well. My evaluation, TAKE HIM if you know how to study by yourself. Because to be honest, most of the accounting work is self taught from the readings and practice

This class is all based off the textbook. If you read and understand the material you will do fine. He takes all of his questions from the textbook. The class is composed of 2 midterms a final and participation (using connect gets you 100% in this category). Not a bad intro class.

Joe is a very cool guy and i felt like he taught the material pretty well. A lot of students never go to class and then complain about how poor of a teacher he is. If you actually go to class you'll learn everything you need to know for the test which aren't that hard. The first half of the class is going over the hw he assigned the class before. You don't actually have to do the hw beforehand, but it helps a lot to pay attention when he goes over the problems. The second half is lecturing for the next subject, which, i'll admit, got fairly boring at times.

Professor McPeak can be rather boring, but his classes are definitely worth going to. He is a very fair grader and it shouldnt be too difficult to get a good grade in the class. If you prefer, the material can be completely self-taught by reading the textbook. I would recommend taking professor mcpeak's class

McPeak couldn't teach. He's a great guy who's smart, successful, and knows his shit. But the difference between a business professor and a businessman is the ability to TEACH information. Sadly McPeak can't do that. In lectures, he presents material quickly without context and can't answer student questions directly. I loved the guy and he's incredibly understanding of student difficulties (even allowing me to not buy the online Connect course). But he's shit at teaching.

He was super easy and generously allowed us to replace our second midterm with our first midterm if it was higher than the first midterm. It had extra credit too so it was extremely easy. He even gave free participation points which automatically boosts your grade. Don't listen to the guy on the bottom because he clearly doesn't know how to do anything.
