She's the sweetest, nicest professor I ever had. She basically became my mom after 5 weeks of knowing her. She will definitely give you artistic critique about your work.

Joann is the best professor I have ever had and if I could I would have her teach every class I ever take. I had so much fun in her class and I learned so much from her assignments and from her teaching method, she always made me feel included and as my voice mattered. Your life isn't complete as an architecture student if you don't take a class with Joann.

JoAnn has a tendency to start class late which I don't mind since studio is 4 hours long. She is a great person in general and that's what you need for a studio professor. She's not very good in the shop but very good with perspective drawings. Take her. She makes going to studio bearable.

Professor Moore isn’t a studio teacher. She’s a studio mom. I loved her. She always made sure students were on track to complete projects on time and gave great advice. It was obvious that she cared about every student in her studio. If there is something going on outside of class, she will work with you. She holds everyone to a high standard, but that doesn’t mean an overload of work. Grading is relatively light and as long as you put your best effort forward, you will succeed in her studio. Highly recommend taking her.

Joann is a super sweet lady and is such a mom in class. Her class is welcoming and she is usually in a super bubbly mood, sometimes she can be sarcastic, but it all comes from love. Her class itself is not graded hard, she provides hard deadlines but will extend those for any reason as long as you communicate clearly with her and tell her what you need. She is super approachable and willing to help on any assignment and will give honest feedback on your designs without making you feel awful about yourself. Sometimes her directions can be quite unclear and she either won't tell you when exactly something is due (because usually it doesn't have an actual hard deadline until the end of the quarter) or she does not provide clear instructions on what exactly you're supposed to be doing (ask for clarification). Sometimes she doesn't provide super detailed prompts which can sometimes lead you down the wrong path so make sure to talk to your studio mates from your studio and others in the same timezone. She is a super understanding lady and always supported our study culture. She fosters a family culture and our studio was one of the closer studios in the 3-6 pm time slot. Joann may sometimes disappear but she is always listening and observing so if you feel as if you're being overlooked or your work is underappreciated or you're trying to slack off, she will take notice (even if she doesn't say anything). She is very high energy so if you are looking for a laid-back professor, she is not the one. She is quite demanding and usually doesn't overwork, but her workload is not "light." Sometimes communication comes very last minute; i.e. she will send an email the day she wants something produced for class, but don't stress if you don't have this before class, usually everything ends up alright, try to keep up with her many emails but she also realizes its sometimes too late of notice. Make sure to print when she says to print and pin up before class. Always have your sketch book with you!
