D'elia is extremely knowledgable about matlab and made sure that we understood the practical uses of the program. He was definitely preparing the Mechanical Engineers for Intermediate Dynamics because he also teaches the lab part of that class and knows what we need to know for it. The only problem is that a lot of the examples and homework problems that he gave us had to do with linear analysis and dynamics which are not prereqs for the class and the majority of us didn't know yet. So the homework was nearly impossible but he is extremely helpful in office hours. I was really nervous for the midterm and final but he lays the tests out for you so you don't need to know any of the calculations, just how to use matlab to solve it. He's really the only teacher i've ever had that has inspired me to work on the material even after the final, I really enjoy using matlab now. I did spend quite a bit of time working on this class but i think it will definitely come in handy for intermediate dynamics. If you don't have to take intermediate, or won't or don't have any use for matlab in the future, I would probably recommend taking someone else, but if you actually want to learn the program, i highly recommend d'elia.

Chris is a relatively young but incredible smart, funny, and personable guy. Not only does he love MATLAB and know how to use it well, but he inspired me and all the other students to want to learn it more. I found this class one of the most enjoyable and relevant classes that I have taken so far. Chris makes sure that all the homework assignments pertain to engineering examples so you really get a sense of how to use MATLAB for real applications. This class is quite a bit of work, but it ensure you will definitely be ready for intermediate dynamics. 10/10 would take again! Highly recommend this guy if you want to learn MATLAB well and enjoy it.

Had one of his last classes but just in case he can't make it outside the university bubble... Super nice guy and bloody brilliant. Understands the material better than anyone I've ever known. You won't get much of it though. Poor communication to say the least. Get help from other students if debugging but Chris was great for holistic technique questions. Good luck and be ready to invest 8-10 hours per assignment. I made the mistake of taking Design at the same time so I was unable to invest enough time to be successful.

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.
