This professor is a joke. He brings students down in order to boost his ego. He does teach clearly and when confronted with a question, he doesn't answer it directly. If you need to take IT 341, do not take it with this professor.

Class is fairly dull. The professor lectures straight off of slides every class. However, tests are taken straight from the slides. Easy to get a good grade if you study the slides and manage to stay awake in class. Also no book!

Super super boring class, especially at 7:40 am. Didn't prepare at all for the first test, but still did decent and did well on the other 2 tests. As long as you go over and memorize the powerpoints and know the structures you can easily get an A in the class.

I took this class because the polyratings made it seem like it would be a relatively easy class, but that was not the case. I think a lot of the people who wrote reviews for IT341 happen to be IT majors so the class wasn't that hard for them, but if you are not concentrating in IT I would not take this class. This is not an easy GE and requires a good amount of work, you get tested on a lot of material and the tests are not that easy. As someone who has no background in IT/is not interested in this material this class was pretty difficult and required a lot of work that I did not want to put in for a GE. I would have much rather met my GE F and technology requirements separately. Professor Kathuria also just isn't that great of a teacher in general so it made learning the material pretty difficult.

Memorize the slides of his presentations and you'll do well on the exam. You're lab grade should be an A as long as you follow the format correctly and arent an idiot during labs. Speaking as an IT major, there are much easier classes to take for an area F. If you want to learn more about plastics/polymers/material sciences, Dr. Kathuria is extremely knowledgeable in that space.

Very smart and super nice. Tough class and expects a lot out of you but I actually learned a lot in his class. Lab reports suck though

This class was okay. It's pretty straightforward for tests and the very few quizzes you get because all you have to do is remember the slides. I did well on the first midterm because I kept studying but after that I only went to class to take notes and then waited till a day or two before to study and didn't do the best so if you're not an IT major try to keep up with the studying. There's no homework so even spending a short amount of time every day trying to get those slides would probably help you get that A. The class also has a group project where you design a product which was really cool and not having IT background can make it a little difficult but you're split into groups to have a broad range of majors (I had 3 other IT majors in my group so it was fine). It can be hard to find some of it interesting if you're not into IT but you definitely learn some stuff about plastics you didn't now before so I would say overall it's an alright class.

Kathuria is a very sweet little man. Put in effort, ask questions and he'll get to know you. His lab grading is annoying at times because his TAs will nitpick tiny things. Tests are pretty straightforward off his slides and things he mentions in class. I had it at 7:40 which was incredibly painful but put some effort in.

If you come to the class, study the slides, memorize the polymer structures, and do the labs, then you're golden. The only physical work outside of the class was the group project and group lab reports (I guess if your group sucks then it'll be harder) (groups are also picked by Ajay).

Interesting class, not too difficult, just study the slides. Ajay is very knowledgeable and super willing to help if you ask for it!
