I dreaded going to this class every single day. She's nice and really wants to help you but the class sucks. It based of 3 main essays and her feedback on them isn't helpful. She allows you rewrite them, which is nice but not to helpful. She gets mad about not participating and gives pointless readings every night for a ge. She takes the class too seriously and is WAY too much work for a ge. Don't recommend

Prochello is a very fair professor. She knows the material well and is usually good at explaining. The class is very group-oriented which can be extremely annoying at times. Her feedback on essays was helpful and I think I've become a better writer from her class.

Here's another english professor who is going to block up your time with endless busy work and propaganda-filled essays only to reward you at the end with a B. She doesn't seem to know anything about writing and instead clings to the textbook, Fresh Voices, to show you how essays should be written and which opinions should be written. I'm glad I took in my first quarter of Freshman year, because I was too naive back then to realize how absurd the workload was. I don't believe that this course made me any more competent at writing, and may have actually decreased my ability. Writing and rhetoric should be crafting well-formed arguments and demanding evidence, not about mindlessly agreeing with pop cultural nonsense. I regret that I didn't take the AP English class in high school to test out of this course.
