he took me from not knowing anything to a full-fledged 101 programmer. he knows how to explain the abstract ideas that so many other teachers hope you learn on your own. i'd reccomend him to anyone taking 101.

Dude This Guy Is AWESOME. You can have no clue how to do anything in computer science like me and get a B+ if you do the programs. And he doesn't care if you get help like some of the other CSC teachers. He's cool.

Don (as he has students call him) is a very good guy and pretty funny. His humor helps long classes not seem quite as long. His programs are very good exaples of the material being learned. There is a lot of classwork, but just shut up and do it and you'll leran the stuff. He is pretty helpful in person. I think his workload is the right amount for a begginning C++ class. He posts the program description on the web which is very nice. He sometimes gets caught up in his own lectures and kinda rambles at times. To someone with no programming experience, it is often hard to keep up because his lectures are like a little bit here and a little bit there. Perhaps lacking some structure. He may not be the best computer science teacher but he is pretty ok and the class in general is not too bad.

Don's lectures were hard to follow. It was hard to prepare for his tests because of this. However, I was able to make up for my bad test grades through the programs. He was very helpful during office hours. He's not out there to try to flunk people. I learned a lot. If you want a challenging class take this one. Then again I knew absolutely nothing about programming when I started.

He was an awesome teacher. He explained the material clearly and has a good sense of humor. The program assignments really put what you learned to work. He didn't throw anything weird at you. I would definately recommend him.

This guy is so cool... He makes class a little more interesting with his little jokes and with the 1 point random questions on his quizzes and tests that he always gives partial credit for, and then rounds up. =) He's really good at teaching the material even though the class does move along pretty fast. Granted, I got a D in his class, but that's only because my brain lacks the ability to think in a language other than English...(which includes computer languages). I would recommend taking this professor if you have the opportunity.

Don Lockwood was a pleasure to have as a professor. I had a fun time in his class and learned quite a bit. His grading policies were more than fair -- one example, he apparently realized that nobody turned in all the exercises from the book and only graded them as 10 out of 5 possible points. ;p His tests are straightforward (he doesn't try to trick you and will gladly answer questions about specific problems), open-book/open-note (including the final), and mainly require you to write snippets of code, be able to understand what a given piece of code is doing, etc. As long as you attend the lectures and take good notes, you shouldn't have any major problems. I didn't go to office hours too much, but he was helpful when I did. Also, he doesn't take roll in lab, so if you don't need his help you can go work on projects at home. I'd take him again.

Don is a cool teacher, he's funny and all, but he spends too much time explaining those "nerdy" student's question, especially there are two in my class, and forgets that most of the students still have no clue about the material. He assumes that you have some computer programming background already, so it is hard to follow. so... you can take your chance and take his class, but just hope that those "nerdy" students dont ask lots of unnecessary questions in that class...

Proffessor Lockwood needs to improve on his lectures. He does however reinforce the areas that you don't understand so chances are that you'll get it the second time around. He gives roughly two programs a week. He expects you to read the book, though i doubt few people did. Going to his office hours are a necessity because you will definitely need help with the programs. This class requires a lot of time for first time programers. He gives more work than most of the other teachers. The tests are also difficult but he helps the grades at the end of the quarter so that most people get by with decent grades.

This guy was funny and helpful with respect to student difficulties. He was so helpful in fact, that he often took up most of the class time answering stupid questions about material that he had already covered. The class is hard if you have no prior experience in programming, like me, but you can still pull off a respectable grade. You can pass any of his tests if you just go to the review sessions. He basically tells you everything that will be on the test. Expect nights lasting until 4:00 am finishing programming assignments.

Professor Lockwood is an excellent teacher. His lectures are entertaing and funny. He has no problem answering any questions clearly and responds to emails quickly. His office hours are helpful since they're usually right after class in the computer lab so he can help you with your programs. Definitly go to those if you're having any trouble. I really enjoyed taking his class.

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.
